  1. 'Mai jehaa na akirtghan...' There is no-one as ungrateful as me, neither in the past , present or future. There is no other as corrupt as me and no-one as vicious. There is no greater blasphemer than me, for my slander of the Guru weighs heavily upon my mind. There is no-one else as perverse as me or a killer of my calibre. There is none as dishonest as me to those who are good. There is no-one more deceitful as me, like the holy-looking white crane that violently catches fishes. Men who eat unlawfully suffer from the incurable disease of greed; I suffer from this. There is no other selfish person like me, who ignoring the Guru's instructions, is so attached to worldy things. I am a Sikh of the Guru only in name, for I do not reflect on nor understand the Guru's hymns'... By: Bhai Gurdas Jee
  2. Not necessarily veerjeeo, sure amrit is a step to becoming gurmukh but its not necessary, a hindu can even become a gurmukh. I agree with this part of your post "being Gurmukh is when the GurSikh gets the insight from God or from Guru" That is satguru, one who is enlightened himself. For a gursikh one of the fundamental steps on the journey to becoming gurmukh is to take amrit, keep rehat and keep a solid gursikhee jeevan. But for someone who is not a "sikh" per say, doesn't have to follow the same steps. The following article will shed some light on the topic: I was incorrectly taught at Sikh camps that when you became initiated as a Sikh you were now a Gurmukh- meaning that I had my face (mukh) towards the Guru (Gur). And everyone who was not initiated was still a Manmukh - had their face (mukh) towards their own mind (man). So then when I read or heard the Gurbani, words of the Guru, and they praised the Gurmukh as the verses below do, I felt very satisfied. And when the verses criticised Manmukhs, I ignored that because that obviously applied to the rest of the unitiated congregation! Who is Gurmukh? Actually, Dassan Das Ji put us straight. Gurmukh is the state of an enlightened soul. When there is no difference between what the Guru's Words teach and what you say, think and do. Gur - Mukh means you are the living , breathing walking talking word (mukh) of the Highest Guru i.e. God (Gur). And to be Gurmukh has nothing to do with the religion you follow or the initiations you have taken. The verses below show that the saints like the child Prehlad Ji, the King Janak Ji and Vashisht Ji were all Gurmukh. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ guramukh prehilaadh jap har gath paaee || As Gurmukh, Prahlaad meditated on the Lord, and was saved. "As Gurmukh, Prahlaad meditated on the Lord, and was saved." ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ guramukh prehilaadh jap har gath paaee || As Gurmukh, Prahlaad meditated on the Lord, and was saved. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਸਿਸਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥ Gurmukẖ basist har upḏės suṇāī. As Gurmukh, Vashisht taught the Teachings of the Lord. Even Bhai Gurdas Ji in his verses writes the founder of Yoga, Patanjali was Gurmukh. In another verse also writes that Gurmukh Nanak Pargat hoi - meaning that Nanak was also Gurmukh who became manifest in this world. So really Gurmukh is nothing less that being the same as the Guru. Gurbani describes this as when the Sikh and the Guru become one, like the wave and the ocean, like the ray and the sun are one. Dassan Das Ji explained to us that basically until we become Gurmukh by defeating the 5 thieves, we are Manmukh - we are following the words of our own mind, and are not following the words of our Guru 100%. So when listening to the divine lovable words of Gurbani, remember the verses about Manmukh apply to most of us, and the Guru is telling us to defeat our worldy mind. 3. Translation of Gurmatta: QUOTE Today, date 23 Jeth Nanakshahi 540 (6th June 2008), the Five Singh Sahibaan have gathered at Sri Akaal Takht Sahib and passed GURMATTA - 1 The 300th anniversary of the Gurgaddi diwas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is an opportunity to highlight the concept and authority of "Guru Granth-Guru Panth". The last order of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was "Sabh Sikhan Ko Hukam Hai, Guru Maaniyo Granth" and that the Panth accept Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as his Living Light and stand strong on this. To overcome all challenges, the Sikh Panth has sought guidance from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Debates presented in relation to Sri Dasam Granth are totally needless. No one has the right to present a questionable debate on the writings from Dasam Granth which the Panth has accepted and uses for the Sikh Rehit Maryada, Nitnem and Amrit Sanchaar. The whole Panth should be reminded that Sri Dasam Granth is an inseparable part of Sikh history, but Guru Gobind Singh Ji did not give it equal status to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and for this reason no other Granth can be Prakaash equal to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 4. We can reset the password for Sikherofthenaam and e-mail it to the e-mail on file for that user, why do you have two accounts?
  5. I'm not saying I know the answer, but you got a long way to go brother. One doesn't have to follow a set of guidelines or rules to become a gurmukh all the answers on how to become gurmukh is in gurbani you just have to study bani. Rehat maryada is a code of conduct to keep us in displine. You don't have to be amritdhari to become gurmukh. You should read up some sakhia. That won't make you a gurmukh.
  6. garab n keejai raen hoveejai thaa gath jeearae thaeree || O soul, don't be so arrogant - become the dust of all, and you shall be saved.
  7. veerjee, guru sahib called it sarohi to relate it to a region, he didn't relate it to a "group" like we do. And the rajput dress codes, etc. are irrelevant to the topic at hand. You're calling it "nihung" bana but you have not provided any source for this, that only nihungs wore this bana and other khalsay didn't.
  8. I wonder why parents in India don't beat their kids when they cause so much fuss. Combing hair doesn't hurt.
  9. Nihung bana? Seriously, one of the stupidest things I've heard. What's so "nihung" about it, I think singhs fail to understand what the word actually means and like JustME bhainjee said "Could we BE any more caste ridden?" We've labeled everything and everyone we see to the point of CLOTHES. This is taksali chola, or AKJ dastar, or taksali kirpan, or nihung bana, take a step back hear yourself, you're only fooling yourself. By labeling you are not creating unity in the panth but are disuniting the panth by labeling such things to belong to one group or another instead of belonging them to the khalsaa panth like Guru Sahib did. There weren't such labels in the times of guru sahib. Guru pitajee's teachings have always been One God, One Guru, and One Khalsa Panth. Its our MANMAT and stupidity to label our beloved gursikhs to the extent of their clothing to belong to a specific group instead of to the khalsa panth. This is the trend in the youth today and even though we want the panth to unite we are creating barriers among each other by putting these labels. Bhul chuk muaf karnee.
  10. Please do a search this topic has been discussed MANY times before.
  11. Goli Da Vair Sada, there's a nicer way of trying to make others understand instead of telling them they're talking rubbish.
  12. Doesn't work for me. I have the latest version of windows media player.
  13. "AK-47" veerjee/bhainjee I wasn't talking to you. Bottom line, some do it, some don't. Do it if you understand gurbani better. Don't do it if you think otherwise.
  14. Yea, to my understanding only Nanaksar follows this, no-one else does it this way.
  15. gaaveeai suneeai man rakheeai bhaao || Sing, and listen, and let your mind be filled with love. dhukh parehar sukh ghar lai jaae || Your pain shall be sent far away, and peace shall come to your home. ko gavai ko suney har nama chit lai kho kabeer sansa nahi ant paramgat pai
  16. Considering the amount of sangat that goes to his divaans its not that surprising I think its funny that people who badmouth or talk bad about Bhai Sahib haven't even inspired a single person in their lifetime to take amrit.
  17. I think japmans right, one is mother the other is maya, and Jangal Da's on the right track as well. The source for both is MAYA, as guru sahib says: qRY gux dIsih mohy mwieAw ] thrai gun dheesehi mohae maaeiaa || Those who are controlled by the three qualities are attached to Maya. Bhai Sahib Singh translates that tuk as mwieAw mMgdw mMgdw qUM qRYguxI mwieAw ivc Ps irhw hYN There's many tuks mentioning "the three qualities" or tre gun: qRY gux ibiKAw AMDu hY mwieAw moh gubwr ] thrai gun bikhiaa a(n)dhh hai maaeiaa moh gubaar || In the corruption of the three qualities, there is blindness; in attachment to Maya, there is darkness. 18. First of all Baba Jarnail Singh ji Bhindrawale is not your pita. If you're amritdhari your pita is Guru Gobind Singh jee, secondly I would suggest japping as much naam and doing as many sukhmani sahibs as possible.
