I agree it probably makes them more sexually frustrated and is one reason why they are sick pedos, But then how come jews are not in the media and always preying on girls / women. As for hindu / sikh girls finding them more mature etc, i think it more that some sikh / hindu girls are no very bright, i mean academically they might be but as far as family values/ respect morals etc they are pretty poor, (as are a lot of guys) . Well i agree, most new Gurdwaras only come into being because committee members fall out with each other, so lets open a new one, which then ends up you have two, three or more Gurdwaras in a small town and each one is mostly empty mon-fri and not full even on the weekend, none of them can give sangat parchar or education etc, because they dont the have funds to invite parcharks etc , its ok in the larger cities to a certain extent, but small towns no. Certainly where i live we have three and sangat enough for one, each one is empty and none of them invite well know parcharks or have any events smagams etc , the reason when asked is we dont have the funds, so people like me end up going to the city for smagams etc and only going there when their is no event elsewhere or if i want darshan of maharaj ji , sangrand etc and usually the Gurdwara is empty then! This is mainly the fault of the breakaway /original committee members and partly the sangat who follow and genuine people who have love for sikhi suffer, but your lets go to the Gurdwara on sunday and eat langar and go home crowd are ok about it. In the long run this is not doing the sangat or sikhi any good because we and our kids are being deprived of parchar and education. .

This is were a lot of people go wrong, you have to ask/ beg for the amrit and when Guru ji is ready to give it too you he will call you and you will have to go ! it can take years ( took me 20 years of Ardas to finally be given amrit). others receive it very quickly, This is Guru jis decision alone, but asking/ardas and yearning are key, dont forget the panj pyare gave their heads it does not come at a low price but is priceless. To say i am preparing is ok, but begging at Gurus feet is a different thing all together. But keep learning about sikhi and the yearning will grow stronger. Gurbani says in Anand Sahib ji, when Waheguru ji is ready he sends you to the Guru to receive amrit :respect:

If does not say rennet in the ingredients then its ok, also not all rennet in cheese is from animals it can be from plants too. no rennent in ricotta or quark and many cheeses made in portugal. plus if a product says suitable for vegetarians and does not specify eggs etc it is ok.

Sikhi will never die the day that happens the world/universe will end, so you can forget that idea, a few dumb kids getting westernised does not constitute to the end of sikhi, our forefathers were slaughtered for centuries but sikhi never ended, instead the people/empires who tried to destroy us ended themselves !! Pacific drift You can still follow Guru ji and call yourself a sikh even though you have not taken amrit, but this has to be the goal without this yearning inside for the daat of amrit you can not class yourself as a sikh, although Guru jis door is open to all, you can fool the world but you can not fool him.

Once again the problem is that sikhi and punjabi culture are being confused. A sikh girl amritdhari or not loves her religion and will not do anything which dishonours sikhi , herself or her parents, (same applies for boys) she has no problem with marrying a boy with a turban (obviously a must for amritdharis). does not do bf's or clubbing, drinking, beuty parlour etc, same for boys no gf's etc and hopefully no beauty parlour but their are more and more getting their beards threading etc, All the boys and girls who say they are sikhs but do the bf/gf, drinking pubs clubs,beauty parlours, night out with the girls/ boys etc are not sikhs and just because they say they are makes no difference, Gurbani forbids sikhs to dishonour themselves or their parents, drinking etc. Now you decide the ones who are hated and the ones that are not, and actually hated is a very strong / wrong word, i would say pitied (boys and girls) as they have turned their backs on Guru ji.

You make some very interesting points, i have always thought that all this worry we are fed about sikhi being in decline etc is not all that important, yes it is in decline within punjabis but others are coming to Guru JI slowly in numbers , but i think sikhi will come through any hardship it faces today, just like it has previously, but the question is will apne be the sikhs of the future, i dont think so, sikhi / khalsa will rise again but they may not be all of punjabi origin.

i watched an auction on sikh channel recently cant remember name of auctioneers but do recall some where in shropshire ludlow i think google it auction ludlow or give sikh channel a ring, apparently its quite a regular auction and they are definately selling sikh artifacts there when they have some. hope this helps

you can have chooleh which is basically after an amrit sanchar , amrit is given to the sangat but does not make the receiver amritdhari, dont know if all Gurdwaras do this but soho rd do if you are in the uk.

Another reason is being forced to take amrit and maintain a sikh way of life too young, its better to raise the child with sikh values and educate your children , starting with punjabi read write etc, (my kids are currently doing this), teach them history and eventually they will want to become sikhs, i grew up in a moderate go to the Gurdwara once in a while, cut kesh etc, punjabi family in the west. Read some books about sikh history and today i have been blessed with amrit (only male in my family for generations). The other problem is western culture not only in the west but in india too. Kids do find it hard to balance this and know what is right and wrong, that is our duty to explain to them. I know a 40 year old man who has been raised in an amritdhari family from birth , Maharaj saroop at home for years and he has gone patit, his wife, kids, parents are very upset and sad today, once again another typical story he got into the wrong crowd and ended up making major mistakes. i think in his mind he may have had this idea about i wonder what it would be like, without a pagh, eat what you like, drinking parties etc etc. You can not be born a sikh or forced to be a sikh, it has to be from within, but education about sikhi will help one to fall in love with sikhi and that is the starting point for children, our history is very powerful and rich how can anyone who inspires to be a sikh not be moved when he or she hears or reads about it.

Personally i feel that if vaheguru is forgotten during the act then kaam has taken control, if the act is carried out between husband and wife with vaheguru ji in mind then its is he himself as n30singh ji says sab gobind hai. It is for the purpose of producing offspring and we are told to keep it to a minimum, but i dont think we are committing a kurehat as long as kaam does not take control fully or in a western manor, another way to look at it is that actually within a marriage sex can help keep kaam stabilized, until it can be controlled, but these are my own opinions and i dont think there are many of us who can say they have not succumb to kaam, all we can do is ask for forgiveness and the strength to control it, but rather it in a marriage than otherwise that would bea major problem and a kurehat especially for an amritdhari.
