  4. "I am sure the bibian are gonna take this opurtunity to share the LATEST gossip in the town! gossi.gif gossi.gif gossi.gif .....lol.. LOL.gif LOL.gif LOL.gif (joke) " Right, or maybe the bibian will take this oppurtunity to share the LATEST techniques on destroying our patriarchal society
  5. Especially if shes Amritdhari, you need to be careful that you don't come in the path of her religion, because she's given her head for something so great and it'd be a paap to make somebody like that waver from the path of Sikhi You should also try harder to commit yourself, paat CHANGES a person's mind, simply put, and if you're doing a lot of paat or even doing a little bit of paat but not noticing any difference in yourself or your brain/thinking patterns/life, etc, you're either doing not enough paat, or probably not doing it with enough concentration or dedication / love. Only you can be the judge of that... Think about that
  6. We need to live for Sikhi before we think of dying for Sikhi We need to know the value of every drip of amrit naam, kirpa, every sweet bakshish of the Guru's pyari rehat, our history, our mahaan shaheeds, our beant beant beant Guru sahibs, our spiritual Father & Mother dying just seems like an easy way out but it wasn't, it isn't, shaheeds were ripped into peices and killed in the most brutal ways. If you have no rehat, you wont be able to handle that If you do have rehat, you're lightening the load of this Earth

  8. Hey, sorry bhajee i didn't know people were still replying to this thread..... Umm, well sure jee if you want to say thats beadbi then go for it. Either way, the situation is different because damdamitaksal.com isn't a website with the whole of Guru Granth Sahib ji online (ie. STTM), where Bani is translated for countless people (esp. youth) to read, and therefore probably half as many people would be affected by that "error" or "difference in interpretation" that youre saying is on the taksal website. Also, that isn't the 'genuine' Maryada, as the real Maryada is written in Punjabi, so what you read could also just be a translation "error" or "difference in interpretation" , rather than a deliberate changing of translations of different shabads/countless bani. My concern was with the popularity of STTM as a Bani translation website, that thousands of people visit, and depend on for translations. In my eyes those translations should be closest to how they are literally and our own beliefs about Sikhi (ie. sant or no sant) should not influence the direct translation of Gurus bani challo jee i say to each his own, if there are any other concerns please just p/m me because i don't know if i'll be checking this thread and i don't check this forum often. also, my only intention was to humbly request the sevadaars to correct the translation which I think they humbly have bhul chuk maaf
  9. But Daas jee, what is the literal definition of the word "Sant"
  10. It's quite funny isn't it because it has nothing to do with believing in "Sant" or not. It's about the direct translation being wrong. The word "Sant" literally translates into Saint, not Guru, even if someone thinks it means that. Therefore we have no right to alter the literal word from Gurbani, translating it into something inconsistent. What I mean to say is, if Satguru Ji wanted it to be translated as "Guru", why did they use the word "Sant" in the first place? The two words are different. Challo. I never use this thing so I am sorry if I've said anything to hurt anyone bhul chuk maaf
  11. Wow, dear bhajee I'm sorry if my post upset you or something. It sounds that way. I'm not complaining pyare jee I am just addressing something that went wrong. I would love to help Tarsem Singh but I'm not a Gyani Ji and haven't had enough Gurbani Santhiya or vidya. I don't know about who else he is asking but maybe he should find people in real life (i.e. from Gurdwaras or certain Committees/Organizations) who are well-reputed to understand or "know" Gurbani, having been taught Santhiya or Vidya of Gurbani. Asking people on one particular forum may not be the best option and may again result in Bani being translated in an ill-mannered fashion. If I helped him by putting in my own Matt, it would be the same as what he is doing or as the other sevadars have done, by using what they feel is right rather than consulting other people that have studied Gurbani for years and years. I am no different from those sevadaars infact I am much lower, but I still think everyone is entitled to defend Gurbani, and I think everyone is still entitled to say that such a big project (STTM) should be dealt with carefully. There are many people in the Panth that have studied Gurbani for years, maybe we should help him contact some of those people (ie. Gyani Takhur Singh). bhul chuk maaf
  12. A. Singh bhaji, I agree with what you are saying for the most part, but when you said "rather than checking through the entire thing, the Sevadars used some sort of automated system to update the old translation." THAT is the problem itself. This can't be done with Guru's Bani! That's the reason why some people are really upset. How can you just use an automated system to randomly distort bani translations? Even though sevadaars maybe did not have an ill intention, it's still foolish or immature behaviour to do that without thinking. You also said "Sikhitothemax is one of the few projects which I believe to have had a massive impact especially on youth " - jee that is the exact problem/concern. I know that the STTM Seva probably took a lot of time or originally took loads of hardwork, but I think that Sikhi to the max should NOT be updated or changed unless the people doing it are well-learned in Gurbani vidya, it simply doesn't make sense otherwise to use our own buddi. It doesn't make sense and it doesn't feel right. Even if the example Tarsem Singh gave seems more appropriate in our eyes, it just confuses me as to who is allowed to interpret and translate Bani that will be shown to the whole world - in older times only certain Singhs had that seva because they had directly learned from Guru Sahib or they had the knowledge passed down to them. It's not right to change such things ourselves. Even if that specific example is 'better' (although it doesn't seem like a Gyani ji or learned-santhiya teacher, for example, interpreted it), what about all of the other galteeya? I am sorry if i said anything wrong and I definitely don't mean any hurt towards the sevadaars at all, I just think all issues relating to Gurbani should be dealt with seriously bhul chuk maaf  @
  13. Sangat jeeo, this is wrong. I was very very upset to read some of the new 'translations' like "Hum Santan Kee Rayn Pyare" was translated as something like "I am the dust of the Guru's Feet" - seriously it's wrong for us to completely CHANGE what Bani is saying. Even if somebody believes that there is no such thing as "Sant", it is still absolute beadbi (in my humble moorakh eyes) to mis-translate and possibly mislead youth and others reading Sikhi to the Max (Simply put, Sant = Saint, Guru = Guru). Sikhi to the Max is used by SO many people, especially youth, and the sevadaars should not change such Arth especially if it is not correct. Please sttm sevadaar jees do not let your personal feelings influence the Bani Arth, please. Either way I believe that the sevadaars changed that one particular shabad back to the old translation, which I was really thankful for. My apologies if someone thinks I'm making a big deal out of this, but it hurt me a lot to see Bani being translated in a wrong way, this can't pass... It is different if you have several sianay Gursikhs that have thoroughly studied Gurbani for years (through Santhiya for example) breaking down the English translations for certain Shabads, but it seems inappropriate for us to take this roll on ourselves my heartfelt apologies if i said anything hurtful
  14. Another Sikh Farmer Commits Suicide? waheguruu
  15. any updates with bhainji? you still there ji
  16. waaheguruu bhainji i wish i could meet with you or somehow help you, at times like this the best thing to honestly do is just sit before guru granth sahib ji and let out all of your pain, even if you have to cry, let it out in front of guru ji, fold your hands in front of him and just pray for your brothers soul. Pray and pray and pray until something happens, inside of you, around you, until you feel safe and content, knowing that your brother will be okay, and that he is in God's hands, and that Guru Sahib will watch over him, blessing him with His divine grace, forgiving him for any mistakes, taking him into His embrace I'm so sure youve heard this countless times, but God has faith in us even though we lose faith in ourselves, and life, at times... He has faith in us, that is why He brought us here, and puts us through so many trials. He really wouldn't put you through something unless He was sure you would survive through it... He has faith in you, and your strength, you just need to radiate His love and feel it inside of you. God bless you bhainji sooo much. I have been through a similar situation, and I'm sure you probably feel really alone right now, waheguru jee. Just remember that Guru Ji is ALWAYS surrounding you, always with you, protecting and loving you, caring about you, he will always be there, just pray to Him that He'll always keep His hand on your head. Please keep posting and the sangat will do as much as we can to help you heal this pain. It's a healing process and it takes so much time, of course, losing a brother is no easy thing, but the strength is inside of you already, it was given to you at birth, and it will slowly be revealed, it will slowly come out. May God keep you , in this hard time. Waaheguru Waaheguru Waaheguru. Bhainji if I can be of any help feel free to msg me, as you said "I know i'm probably going on a bit, but i truely haven't got anybody to talk to" - trust me you're not going on at all, we are your siblings of destiny, your brothers and sisters, and are always here to support or help in any way we can. Im sure everyone agrees on that. You can talk to us, for however long you want, as much as you want... It's always good to have someone to talk to, you've got to talk to someone, here Guru Sahib has helped you turn to His Sadh Sangat, which is really a blessing, they are the best people to go to. Some people on this forum are very blessed. Also try speaking to your husband if you can, or maybe a close cousin/friend. You can also talk to Waheguru Ji, He is always there... Listening, waiting, loving... God Bless you bhainji, waheguru, waheguru, waheguru, waheguru, waheguru... T ry doing simran if you can, if you can just devote a tiny amount of time out of your life, even in the morning or before sleeping, to just sit up crossed legged, and slowly remember / meditate on Waheguru in your heart... Pain slipps away, illnesses are healed, broken hearts become whole, slowly, slowly, slowly, faith builds, you learn to stand up again... Waaheguru. God bless...Waaheguru
