  1. Waheguru deeply sad loss for the Panth - Mahraj apne charanaa vich rakhe these GurSikhs have a limited time here and if you want to know what their sewa is - it's us being here, living on, following the Path and if we want to honour their memory then we should learn from their example and take steps closer to our Guru. gur crn sryvih gurisK qor ] gur charan saraevehi gurasikh thor || Your GurSikhs serve at the Guru's Feet. gur syv qry qij myr qor ] gur saev tharae thaj maer thor || Serving the Guru, they are carried across; they have abandoned any distinction between 'mine' and 'yours'.
  2. agree with previous posters - the punishment should have been as severe as the crime. this is one example of what happens when you allow national jurisdictions to apply primarily over preserving Gurmat in GuruGhar.
  3. On August 21, 2007, Charanjit Singh Ghai's trip from San Francisco to London became a nightmare. Charanjit was accompanying his daughter, a political science student at University of California Berkeley, to London for her semester abroad. At the airport, Charanjit was able to successfully walk through a metal detector without sounding an alarm. Once he had cleared security and was waiting for his bags, a TSA screener tapped his shoulder and told him that his turban would nevertheless need to be patted down. He was surprised by the screener's demand, especially since his mini-turban was more akin to a simple patka (a square cloth tied tightly over the head) than a turban. He asked the screener and her supervisor that his turban instead be checked with a hand-held wand. The supervisor replied that wanding was not possible for turbans and that a turban pat down was "mandatory." The supervisor threatened Charanjit: "If you don't do it, I'll have you escorted out." Under pressure, confused and distressed by the idea of having his turban touched by anyone else, Charanjit offered to remove his turban quickly to show he was not hiding anything. After he removed his turban, the supervisor insisted that he also be able to pat down Charanjit's hair. Charanjit was shamefully forced to untie his hair in public view. "This exercise was all done to demean me. It was unbearable." Charanjit Singh to the Sikh Coalition's staff attorneys. Again the supervisor threatened him, "If you don't do it, I'll have you escorted out." Standing with his head naked, Charanjit stood and waited as the supervisor humiliated him by placing his small cloth turban in a bin and through an x-ray machine. Charanjit's shirt or pants, which both consisted of more cloth than his turban, were spared the X-ray machine. "This exercise was all done to demean me," Charanjit told the Sikh Coalition's team of staff attorneys. "It was unbearable." An Ineffective Policy The disgraceful public undressing of Charanjit Singh is a disturbing example of extreme but permissible conduct under the TSA's new headdress policy. What happened to this proud Sikh man was not only hurtful to the whole Sikh community, but also diverted America's resources away from genuine security threats. While the Sikh Coalition is grateful that TSA's top leadership is willing to find a "workable solution" to Sikh concerns about the policy, the Coalition remains troubled that the new headwear screening policy still remains in effect. The Sikh Coalition is hopeful that its engagement with the TSA, along with other Sikh and non-Sikh organizations, will lead to a solution similar to the screening procedures put in place soon after the 9/11 attacks. Shortly after the 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. Sikh community groups worked closely with Department of Transportation officials to devise an airport screening protocol that would meet national security requirements, while safeguarding religious pluralism. The Coalition will keep the community updated as our engagement with the TSA deepens. In the meantime, we continue to ask everyone to sign the community petition to Secretary Chertoff as a means of demonstrating grassroots concern with the new screening procedures, and to document your experience with the new screening procedures. http://www.sikhcoalition.org/advisories/TSASenateLetter.htm http://www.sikhcoalition.org/advisories/TS...utofControl.htm Just as easily could have been ssomeone's Dastaar. Something has to be done. Please contact your US Senators and support the Sikh organisations which are trying to bring about change.
  4. would be a good idea to get in touch with United Sikhs: http://unitedsikhs.org/contact.htm and let them know of what incident took place and see if anything can be done.
  5. Repeating Naam or Mool Mantar for the same time would be more beneficial than a hurried super speeedy Sukhmani Sahib as if you are reciting so fast that you cannot think clearly and comprehend the Bani then there is less point in doing it. Whatever Gurbani you recite it has to be heartfelt otherwise it becomes almost ritualistic. If you have 30 minuites it'd be better to do Anand Sahib or a portion of Sukhmani Sahib to be completed at a later date.. This isn't a race - if you have to be concentrating whilst you're driving to avoid getting a ticket or causing an accident then when reciting Gurbani you have to be many times more concentrated to avoid making mistakes, remaining focused, understanding what you're saying and keeping it heartfelt.
  6. they're releasing the videos gradually over time - just a few each day from now on to get maximum coverage. so far they are really nice :TH:
  7. hoping someone might learn from my mistakes i want to admit 2 incidents from my childhood: 1) when i was a kid, we did an Akhand Paath at GuruGhar and i was serving Langar & got angry at a member of Sangat and told him i spat in his food. This is how much of a spoilt brat i was! Without thinking twice this wise person smiled, didn't utter a word and ate the food. 2) soon after i was on my way to school and tripped and fell. What was there to break my fall? The BIGGEST, FRESHEST Pile of Dog Poo i have EVER seen in my ENTIRE life. This was back in the day before they invented the "PoopaScoop" bag thingy for dog owners but anyway this Turd was SO huge it couldn't have been Canine. Both my hands were covered. I had to go to school with my hands like that in front of everyone and clean myself up basically i learned whatever you do in GuruGhar is amplified a million times and returned to you. If you do Sewa or Simran you will be able to wash off the filth of countless lifetimes and if you be an <banned word filter activated> like i was then you will soon find yourself in deep, DEEP DooDoo. Awpy bIij Awpy hI Kwhu ] aapae beej aapae hee khaahu || You shall harvest what you plant. (Guru Nanak, Japji Sahib, Ang 4 Guru Maharaj)

  10. both of the accounts are new - your family is very interested in this particular topic :D Rather than sending personal messages let's discuss here. With regards to Bhagat Ravidas and Gurbani you have our love and respect. However regarding the Radhasoami Fraudsters - Veerji you are not the first person to be tricked by these kind of pakhandi babay. The cult has fractured with the same scam being used under a million different pakhandi dehdhari "sants" to dupe innocent people like yourself into their deras. I'm sad to tell you that your "guddi nasheen sants" are part of a similair setup. A true follower of Bhagat Ravidas would follow Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and all ten Gurus and would join the Khalsa. Gurbani was revealed as Divine to Guru Nanak Dev ji. It is through Revelation from the Lord Himself that we have the Mool Mantar and Waheguru GurMantar. These 5 sacred words are not from Bhagat Ravidas. Radhasoamis copy and distort aspects of Sikhi. Some of these 5 sacred words (Jyot Naranjan, Oankaar, Rarankaar, Sohang, Satnaam) are copied from Gurbani. could you explain the meaning of Rarankaar? what are the origins of the words do you expect us to believe any of your babay had Divine Revelation on par with Guru Nanak? Why does your cult believe in the same 5 sacred words as Radhasoamis? Radhsoamis don't even believe in the singleness of Vaheguru. They believe in five Gods namely Kaal, Brahm, Parbraham, Sohang Purash and Satpurash. In Gurbani Brahm, Parbraham, Naranjan are all one and the same thing. Vaheguru himself controls the whole world and there is no negative force in existence parallel to Vaheguru. Nobody is a challenge to Vaheguru. RS has no faith in Kesh. Then why does their "guru" - keep kesh? "Gurinder Dhillon" used to cut his hair and trim his beard. Why did he stop cutting his hair and beard after he became the guru of RS and why did he start wearing a turban? Same reason "Sant Hari Das" and Sant Niranjan Das" kept beards and turbans. Obviously it was not because of spiritual reasons since you guys don't believe in any connection between spirituality and kesh. The sole purpose of them wearing turban and long hair is to mislead Sikhs and other innocent people. Can you give any other reason? The moment you follow any leader before our 10 Guru Sahiban and Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee, you cease to be a Sikh. If these cults are so great why do they rely on using Gurbani of Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaj to preach their cult? all this does is keep people following pakhandi babay, keep people segregated, and keep people away from the kind of society Bhagat Ravidas was trying to create.
  11. Untouchable/Binna please note multiple IDs are not allowed on the forum. I will not comment on whether he is truely deserved of Guru or Bhagat title as spiritually i'm obviously nowhere near that level and i have a lot of love and respect for his Bani which is part of the beauty of Guru Maharaj. We cannot separate off and deny Bhagat Ravidas from the wider Bhakti movement and the formation of the Sikh religion. Bhagat Ravidas was himself a disciple of Bhagat Ramanand - whose Bani is also in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Kabir, Pipa & Sain were also disciples of Bhagat Ramanand alongside Ravidas who became Bhagats and their Bani is also part of King of Kings Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. Our Gurus have immense love and respect for Bhagat Ravidas. Guru Raam Daas has also said about the spiritual greatness of Bhagat Ravidas ji that people from all four varnas (castes) fell on his feet because of his spiritual attainment. An extract from this hymn is given below on Ang 733 of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj: rivdwsu cmwru ausqiq kry hir kIriq inmK iek gwie ] ravidhaas chamaar ousathath karae har keerath nimakh eik gaae || Ravi Daas, the leather-worker, praised the Lord, and sang the Kirtan of His Praises each and every instant. piqq jwiq auqmu BieAw cwir vrn pey pig Awie ]2] pathith jaath outham bhaeiaa chaar varan peae pag aae ||2|| Although he was of low social status, he was exalted and elevated, and people of all four castes came and bowed at his feet. ||2|| nwmdyA pRIiq lgI hir syqI loku CIpw khY bulwie ] naamadhaea preeth lagee har saethee lok shheepaa kehai bulaae || Naam Dayv loved the Lord; the people called him a fabric dyer. In the following Shabad: http://sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp?SourceID...p;ShabadID=1364 Bhagat Ravidas speaks of Begumpura - we need to think carefully what steps we need to take if we wish to see Begumpura. Love, unity, equality and inclusiveness will help us get there and erode all barriers. So since our Guru - Gurbani belongs to everybody equally Guru Maharaj is all-encompassing. The only difference by going down such route is due to mistreatments of recent times which are better healed with love which leads us back to Sikhi. If you're keeping near-Amritdhari rehit why not take baptism and keep kesh and 5ks? All of the greatest Bhagats kept long uncut hair. Up to this point you have my love and respect. However regarding the Radhaswami community i disagree with their distortion of Gurbani and misuse of elements of Sikhi. I believe the 5 sacred words used by them are Jot Niranjan, Oankaar, Sat Naam, Sohan(g), Rarankaar? please explain the meaning of each
  12. being a Sikh isnt easy nor is being a Khalsa. Nothing in life worth doing is easy. Love bringing people into Sikhi will outlast anything else. we need to focus parchaar specifically on groups of sikhs to wake us all up into seeing how beautiful our Guru is and how lucky we are!!
  13. pssshhhhhht you can't just expect someone to rank them just like that how unfair is that? that's like saying rank in order rubies, diamonds, gold, platinum! or to us fat people: cocoa puffs, frosties or weetabix! why cant we just have them all equally? :'( (dramaqueen) yeh have all of 'em with lots of Sangat and Sugar and Kirtan and yummy gooey Chocolatey.. (drools) i'm off to give this some serious consideration (over dinner) :D
  14. Waheguru. will try & get it taken down & encourage others to do likewise. One Panth

  17. committee has confirmed there will be a coach going from GNG Smethwick
  18. 5 Kakaars have a lot of meaning which in themselves could take a lifetime to understand - just like Gurbani. Hence i agree with the sentiments of what the previous members have advised but would add put as much effort as possible into the understanding of Gurbani as this will give you the true meaning of the Kara. Also have a read of: http://www.mrsikhnet.com/index.php/2007/05...m-barnat-sumat/ as it might help in the learning of both Jaap Sahib which is soo beautiful for your soul, as well as develop yourself physically. Sat Naam
