  1. Elders encourage the sanctuary of Sukhmani Sahib during times of illness and anxiety. If you can't read Sukhmani Sahib yet, start with an audio and follow with your Gutka sahib. If you desperately want see change in your life, commit to a daily Sukhmani Sahib. I have seen and hear of peoples lives changing after they implement Sukhmani Sahib into their jeevans. The first Ashtapadee of Sukhmani Sahib starts with simra-o simar simar sukh paava-o. Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace. kal kalays tan maahi mitaava-o. Worry and anguish shall be dispelled from your body. There's nothing more amazing that Gurbani to guide us and shape our lifestyles. Guru Arjan Devji blessed us with an amazing bani to help get over our low points. Unless we seriously implement it, we won't see change....Change can also be slow. A depressive state is something you need to grow out of it is not something that can go away overnight. Also offer goodwill to other people as this creates a powerful positive energy. Focusing on other people’s good qualities can definitely help improve your own state of mind. There is a principle that what we give out, we get back. Therefore, by offering positive energy to, at some time, we will also be the recipient. Thoughts play a very significant role in determining our state of mind. If we pursue negative thoughts then we give them greater power and influence over our state of being. However, Gurbani helps decide which thoughts to allow and which to reject. We have to learn to be vigilant and prevent negative thoughts from taking hold. As soon as we become aware of negative thoughts we should let go of them. Avoid feelings of guilt .If we have made a mistake, harbouring feelings of guilt will not help alleviate the situation. In particular, we are seeking to avoid feelings of guilty for minor events of no significance. Often we have done nothing wrong, but, others seek to make us feel guilty for their bad fortune. Instead of feeling guilty we should seek to concentrate on doing the right thing. Don’t Base your Happiness solely on other people. If we expect to gain happiness from another person, at some time, we are bound to be disappointed. If bad relationships end, we should see it as an opportunity to move on. It is no use dwelling on what might have been. It is also a mistake to feel that we can change somebody to match our preferences. If we seek to change a person fundamentally we will just feel frustrated when we fail. Have Low Expectations of people. Depression often occurs because our desires remain unfulfilled. The more desires we have, the more likely we are to be disappointed. After disappointment comes a sense of frustration and depression. If we minimise our desires then we will not be prone to disappointment. This does not mean we cannot strive for excellence and achieve things. We definitely should strive to achieve various accomplishments. However, we should try to have an attitude of detachment to the outcome. Nor should we expect people to behave in a certain way.
  2. Thanks for posting a great album of role models... Should put this in the main section as a postive post showing Gursikh Anand Karajs.
  3. Ironically....about 6 years back I was trying to fix a distant cousin up who wanted to marry a boy who was compassionate, spritual, cultural, a non-drinker, a non-smoker and a vegetarian. The catch was she wanted a clean shaven boy. So, it was the virtues of an Amritdhari which was attractive to her without the outer roop of an Amritdhari. I could introduce to a dozen Gursikh lads who fit the first part of her wish list.... another dozen who fit the clean shaven part of her wish list, but I couldn't find a clean shaven "Amritdhari" for her! Anyway, she's still not married. Still looking for her tall, dark and handsome clean shaven "Amritdhari"!
  4. According to the various panthic weekly articles written in 2006....PW seem to have directly linked various named individuals who regularly appear on the Sikh Channel (on the discussion shows and as presenters) to RSS and Rulda http://www.panthic.org/articles/2173 I think we may then find that the Sikh Channel will be bias towards the portrayal of Rulda and the RSS due to this. I have personally found Sikh Channel to be non-responsive regarding personal emails and phone calls. They will only listen to "influential" individuals and pick their issues based on that. If you want Sikh Channel to listen you need to get some big pardaan from a big UK Gurdwara to contact them.
  5. Let's not beat around the bush, almost everyone who has posted on this thread strongly suspects this whole things a set up and the 4 British Singhs arrested are being framed.....I think most of us even have a strong suspicion on which group of "panthic" people have influenced the investigation. I don't know whether it's just me but whenever I see a press statement from or hear the name 'British Sikh Council', I get creepy shivers down my spine.....
  6. Just found an old article published in Panthic Weekly regarding the murdered Rulda and his UK links ....with some sound clips too.. interesting... http://www.panthic.org/articles/2173 Some more here. Discusses Rulda's history http://www.panthic.org/news/125/ARTICLE/2155/2006-01-08.html For those who don't know much about Rulda (like me). ..follow the various panthic weekly articles written in 2006 to read about Rulda and the issues the RSS posed for the Sikh kaum....
  7. Gravesham Council have taken the event off their website.... and I just spoke to a Gravesend local who confirmed that he spoke directly to the committee yesterday evening who have now cancelled. http://www.gravesham.gov.uk/index.jsp?articleid=5751 Perhaps the original poster, Sall, can also confirm this for completion.
  8. Intelligence gathered on Sikh "militancy" is usually based on hearsay and not hard evidence. The Indian Gov't is putting pressure on the west to clamp down on anything they think is "militancy" and also providing unreliable info to the west. The UK prabhandaks can become real lackeys to the authorities when it comes to official meetings. I have seen it with my own eyes, prabhandaks who in kharku circles openly claim to be Babbars conveniently deny their Babbar Khalsa allegiance when speaking to the British authorities or press and cringe fully reclaim it when talking to naujwan at Rehansabhais..... The source of the intelligence used to arrest Sikh "militants" usually come from these sell-outs.
  9. http://www.panthic.org/vichaar/1000003 http://www.emgonline.co.uk/news.php?news=9484 Pictures of the Singhs standing trial in Vienna. Has this been reported in the Sikh press anywhere else? Most of the press coverage is the Austrian press....which is repetitive.... even the Indian press have become quiet on the trial....... Jaspal Singh (35), Satvinder Singh (29), Tasem Singh (46), Sukhvinder Singh (28), Hardeep Singh (33), and Charnjeet Singh (24). SIKHS ON TRIAL IN VIENNA Published on July 12, 2010 The trial has began in the Austrian capital for the six Singhs who were arrested in connection to a shooting and brawl at a Vienna Ravidasia temple last year. A self-styled Ravidasia 'Guru', Baba Ramanand was killed and more than a dozen other individuals, including his assistant were injured during the May 24th, 2009 incident. One of the Singhs is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder, the others are accused of accessory to murder and attempted intentional aggravated assault. Officially, none of the Singhs were identified, but the Vienna public prosecutor's office said five are Indian citizens and that the nationality of the sixth suspect is unknown. However, the press has identified them as: Jaspal Singh (35), Satvinder Singh (29), Tasem Singh (46), Sukhvinder Singh (28), Hardeep Singh (33), and Charnjeet Singh (24).
  10. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chandigarh/UK-body-behind-Rulda-Singh-murder/articleshow/5282973.cms You are right... as per Times of India, British Sikh Council (BSC) carried out the murder of Rulda. Wonder then why Dhesi Sahib has not been arrested? Or is there a deflection tactic going on here. It always pays to have "chums" in high places. The plot thickens!
  11. Khivi Kaur Ji, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. When speaking to someone on the phone in the office yesterday evening, he believed that the showing was still taking place on Wednesday 21 Jul at the Gurdwara.... Also the Gravesham website still shows the venue as Guru Nanak Gurdwara Darbar?? Did not realise that the Gurdwara grounds have already been used for a Harbhajan Maan Concert, which is even more concerning....... No matter how much time, effort and money individuals have contributed to the bricks and mortar, if the principles become weak then the Gurdwara has lost it's purpose . The old saying goes "Pelay Buildinga Kachia See, Sikh Pakay See...Hoon Buildinga Pakay A, Sikh Kachay A"
  12. It's not really..It's the power of sell out prabhandak committees who act as informants, and usually abuse their postion to frame individuals. Often these arrests are based on nothing but information provided by a couple "influential" sikhs who use their leverage to knock their enemies out of the picture. It's being going on for the last 26 years between elder committees in the UK and the Midlands prabhandaks are experts in framing each other all the time. Someone obviously feeding the ears of the Counter Terrorism Unit rather than providing them with "intelligence"
  13. I always fail to ever understand how some internet "sikhs" even feel they posses any rightful capabilities to slander one of the greatest parcharaks that exists at this point in time. Are my fellow little internet "sikhs" so engrossed in their self importance that they fail to recognise the mass connection of nirguray to Guru Ji through bachans of Baba Ranjit Singh Dadriawala. Have you nindaks even met Baba Ranjit Singh or even watched any full recordings of his diwans? Have you nindaks seen the volume of abhilakhis ready to become tyar bar tyar? Have you nindaks yourselves actually experienced the Chardi Kala of Sikhi? Have you nindaks actually even taken Amrit yet? I ask these juvenile slanderers to be able to inspire just one person...just one.... to become tyar bar tyar in their short lives instead of destroying their own avasta by developing their own forgone conclusions on the intentions and spiritual kamahi of Baba Ranjit Singh.
  14. Nindaks at their worst.... There will always be cowards ready to attack us and remain anonymous. This website has disgusting comments and unless there's a way of reporting this to their moderator, I would not even waste any energy trying to debate with time wasters like this who have (and will always have) a perverse hatred towards Sikhs. They've already done the damage to themselves by engaging in such disgusting nindya.
  15. So what's your plan kauragours ji? Typing may not be courageous.. but at least type some constructive contribution to resolving the issues. I don't see why people seem to be waiting for others to make the first move. The whole point of "typing" is to share information/ideas over the internet and provide everyoned with the detailed facts. Now take the personal responsiblity and act upon the information supplied to you... by visiting the Gurdwaras, speak to the committees, write to the Gurdwaras, phone the committees, raise the awareness in your family members and local sangat, speak to your peers, speak to your local role model Singh/Singhni or local Kharkus. Stop waiting for a miracle and start taking the lead yourself.
  16. Oh come on!!! Why is it getting increasingly difficult to promote solely Gurmat activities within a Gurdwara complex??? The larger the loan taken out to build a Gurdwara the more likely the eventual activities in the Gurdwara move away from Gurmat. Sholay can be shown in the local park or cinema. Why a Guru Ghar?? HeatSikhingMissle, what happens when the gypsy dance "Mehbooba o Mehbooba" echo's in the complex of the Gurdwara with our children (our Kaum's future) sitting watching a vigrous hip movements of the 1970's actress. All under the banner of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, might as well call Massa Rangher back and get him to get the real life kunjariya to dance, I suppose they weren't as racy as todays Bollywood dances...
  17. Singhstah, I totally agree with where you're coming from. But in the absence of any suitable leadership or jathebhandi coming forward to address the whole Meat-Sharab-Party Hall issue in Gurdwaras, then all we have is the ground level members of the sangat (people like you and me) who need to create a high profile case for these anti-sikh activities. That may mean ranting and raving on the internet and calling the committees offices. It's about reawakening the Gursikhs who have become very comfortable accepting these activities in Gurdwaras and have made themselves numb to it. I personally think all the 15 Prabhandak committees should be held fully accountable for allowing this GROSS BEADBI to exist under their leadership and should either abolish the Meat-Sharab-Party Hall or be ex-communicated from the Panth with immediate effect. I know some Singhs in Punjab are battling the bureaucracy of the admin at Akal Takht Sahib to get this mataa passed.. Until then... as from this moment I think (this is my opinion only, people can take it which ever way they want) any Gursikh who truly believes in the betterment of the Khalsa Panth should NOT interact or associate with anyone who is involved in the committees of all the Gurdwara mentioned below. That means: - Kirtaniya, ragis, kathakars, jathebhandis should refuse to attend any programmes at these Gurdwaras until the committee abolish the manmat. - NO Youth Camps or Workshops should NOT be promoted in these Gurdwaras until the activities of the Meat-Sharab-Party Hall are terminated. - Amritdharis who sit in these committees and do nothing to change the practice should do pesh infront of the Punj Pyaray at the next Amrit Sanchar Think about it..if each panth-dardi Gursikh adopts this approach then we can collectively take these committees on and bring some positive change. Time to make these committees realise they don't deserve a place in the Sikh Kaum... Gurdwara Tegh Bahadur Sahib - Southampton Ramgharia Sikh Temple - Graham St, Birmingham Ramgarhia Gurdwara - Small Heath, Birmingham Ramgharia Gurdwara - Coventry Ramgarhia Gurdwara - Leicester Sri Guru Nanak Singh Sabha Gurdwara - Dudley Ravidass Gurdwara - Wolverhampton Guru Nanak Gurdwara - Telford Ramgharia Gurdwara - Leeds. 18. An inspiring account of a great Mahapursh's jeevan. I was in Singapore a few years ago and visited Silat Road Gurdwara which is near the site where Baba Maharaj Singh left this world. Baba Ji's samadh/tombstone was discovered in the grounds of the General Hospital, Singapore and in 1966 it was brought to Silat Road Gurdwara.
  19. Don't pass the buck by belittling the passion of these "shers and bhadurs" for attempting to "sort things out" as it's more than what other influential Sikhs have done in the last 26 years towards corrupt Gurdwara practices in the UK The pendu elder leadership are divided in their caste/cultural groups, there has been little attempt to abolish this practice of meat being served as Guru Ka Langar in some Gurdwaras run by sangat linked to the Bhatra community. Most of the mainstream leadership, who will be of the "blue-blooded" Jatt background, would avoid associating with Bhatras or Ramgharias or any other non-Jatt group. The Bhatra community in their isolation have developed some customs which mainstream Sikhs may find unusual. However, the distribution of meat as Langar is a sacrilegious offence to Akal Takht Maryada regardless of which group is doing it. The visible self appointed leadership of the UK Sikhs (FSO, SFUK, BSC etc) or the various dharmic UK jathebhandis such as AKJ UK, GNNSJ or any other official body have never been able to snap out of the pendu caste mould and have isolated the Bhatras which has indirectly encouraged this manmat practice. ....we all know this has been going on for ages...as young members of the UK Sikh community we deserve an award for pointing things out way after the beadbi has already made it's mark.... most of the sangat have known this for ages BUT conveniently take the option of not bothering to do anything about it and our jatt pendu leadership simply ignores the beadbi because it suits them not to speak to a bhatra...Incidentally in Scotland ALL THE LOCAL SIKHS got together and through dialogue stopped this practice which was happening in some Gurdwaras in Glasgow and Edinburgh....
  20. If these people of Southampton want a dirty greasy English fry up then they can go down to the Little Chef. This scum of a committee has no right to abuse the maryada of Langar by mixing their manmat....All these self-appointed leaders who stand up in Hyde Park or on the Sikh Channel need to "man up" and abolish these practices taking place in some Gurdwaras run by the Bhatra community. Either that or kick them out of your little Gurdwara network club..... NB.. I am not branding all Gurdwaras run by committees from the Bhatra community. As far as I know this practice is only carried out in Southampton and Cardiff Gurdwaras....Apologies in advance if I offend...
  21. Please name this committee of sell-outs, especially the rum running pardaan.
  22. I don't think highly of the state system appointed "Head Granthi" Jaswinder Singh anyway after his Bhangra dancing video last year..... these people think they are worthy of the same mahan sewa taken on by such great Mahapurshs' like Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Mani Singh Ji Shaheed.....we have got it so wrong with todays leadership....
