  1. This leader is a disgrace to all sikhs, this leader needs to resign. Who else should take his spot?
  2. downsized, not "liberalized" however, the word liberalized has different meanings to some. Please tell us what you think "liberlized" means.
  3. True, this is sad. Bhangra is going in this direction as well, that's why i dislike it and don't listen to it anymore.
  4. You think sikhism and punjabi culture are the only ppl that live there? I fnd it hard to believe that there are no hindu's and muslims in punjab, that is so unrealistic and arrogant, do more research mr. punjabi! What are you talking about? As everyone knows, humans can't see into the future, nor could GGS, waheguru can, he knows everything. I thought you would have known this by now... I personaly don't like to see politics and religion, history has taught us that religion and politics can be a fatal mix. Sikhism and politics can mix due to basic concepts of sikhi, however when imperfect humans start to get in the mix, sometimes the effects can be negative. Don't you agree? Like i said, promote sikhi and clean it before trying to preserve it, this concept applies to almost anything. I am happy to see others pursue khalistan, however, like i said before, i will not get involved in politics (physically). Politics has almost killed my culture and has nearly wiped out our race - i have already said this before. Go ahead and promote khalistan, i applaud you, you are brave brother, however i myself will not get invlolved into it. That is why i usually give both sides of the topic when it comes to issues like this, perhaps i should do it more on these boards. I often have dreams and visions of khalistan, no doubt, most of us have! However some ppl try to work for it, while others don't. There's no crime in persueing another area of sikhi. WJKK WJKF -KS
  5. That's kind of odd, no sugur or cafiene, and start yoga. I was taought that yoga and sikhi dont mix. Anyway, on the meat subject - i eat meat because of health issues, not as micha s before. Most westerners can except the vegetarian diet tsince they have the blood type than can handle it. However since i'm type O it is not a good idea to take on a full vegetarian diet. So i eat a little, not as much as before. That is my reason. As for 3HO, sounds kind of
  6. First of all, am i disapointed that many users feel that khalistan is the be all, end all solution to all problems that face sikh. And secondly, i am sad that we are not focosing on other matters more pressing. As for my views on khalistan... I, like alot of sikhs and non-sikhs look past the idealist views and look at the possible effects that such a move could have on other cultures and people. Yes, guru gobind singh stated that sikh sovernty was essential for the survival of our religion. However he wouldn't approve of the state of the people of sikhi in its state today. We must cleanse the ppl of sikhi and promote the basics of sikhi before we think about preserving. After all, we would not want to preserve caste use at temples, the SGPC and different sects of sikhism do we. That is all i'll say, i am remaining neutral on this subject from now on. nuff said...
  7. Every sensible and honest sikh will now that Jatt/tarkhan stuff is just BS. Jatts are loosers, everyone knows it, and shame on people who judje others on these caste S---
  8. interesting... the part of the "western people" are they talking about people in the america's?
  9. in the no so distan future we will have an new ipod caled the "Ipod nano2" it will be as small as your thumbnail! lol i want one of those!
  10. somone said it finaly, guru ji is one we must follow and also the SGGS is also a good reference, be weary or inpurfect humans - that means all of us! Look to our holy book and weheguru for guidence first! thanks Balwinder Singh!
  11. the world doesnt revolve around Bhindranwale, he as a human was not purfect and slipt, this was one of those occasions. I don't agrre nor accept of all waht he has had to say, women and men are equal - that goes for all ceramonies and other sikhi related stuff. Confused? All i'm saying is that i'm confused wehn individuals dollow other ppl's advice whe it goes against sikhi values and principles.

    Kirpan

When you have taken amrit, it's a must that you wear the 5 kakars. Be carefull though, dont overkill and wear when showering or haveing sex, it can be just as bad as not wearing it. BTW, glad to hear your interesting in the kirpan!
  13. you story is very inspiring and close to my story of converting, same age, same way, and same concept! Sounds like your friend was not much of a sikh after all Little advice, gurdwara's is the least likely place you will find advice and to learn about sikhi - they speak in punjabi! At least over here, i don't know of what the temples are like in the UK.
  14. the fact that you are is even more of a worry, why are you putting yourself down and out of place of a great cerimony? I don't get, other want to while others try to stop it. MAke up your minds SSM

Do NOT sleep on it! i had a bad experience recently when i slep with it - had to go to the hospital LOL! Anyways, best to take it off when sleeping and bathroom stuff.
  16. so you just answerd your own question, if both women and mnen are dirty then no one should be doing anything. Get real, sounds like a typical male to me...
  17. To hell with the SGPC, they are outdated and have no future in sikhi. Take a look a the recent headlines about this so called sikhi group, they are all a bunch of f--k ups. Our future is in our youth and finding new sikhs in other cultures and races, also existing sikhs who want more. No, the SGPC is no longer a reliable leader or a good group to look up to. I'm sure i'm not alone that thinks this way.
  18. A few friends of mine suggested the gurdwara's in the lower mainland near vancouver BC, i heard that there is always stuff going on and there are some different ppl their as well. I'll have to check it out sometime.
  19. Another thing that is bad is that our president is usually gone for the summer on vacation. Where is a leader when you most need it? This is very sad, also, the state of our community is not very good, no regular attendees, except a few old elders, i wonder if they shake their head in sadness about their community.
  20. Need help? To bad!! By Khalsa Starr I was in a sad mood, i recently had to move again, i needed help and advice. So what did i decided to do? How about go to the local gurdwara and get some help. After all the temple is the heart of any sikh community and you should be able to get answers on anything sikhi right? WRONG. As i walked in to the temple (around 5 pm) i entered a large empty building, there seemd to be no one there. Then an elder came from a room nearby and looked at me. I then made my move and started explianing myself, it looked good, he seemed nice, he even smiled, then when it was his turn, he started taliing. However i coulndt understand what he was saying since he was speaking in punjabi! I couldnt do much, i jsut went to the main hall and did my stuff and left, with no answers or getting any better. I wonder if anyone has had this experience? I don't know if it's just my gurudwara or if this is actually happening in other temples around the world. A new sikhi, or someone from the public trying to get help or wanting to learn more, but then getting turned back because they don't know punjabi, or get downsized for not knowing all there is about sikhi. I know it happens, why are we alowing this to continue??? And BTW, it has been over 6 months since i converted to sikhi and i still can't find anyone to help me tie my dastar - i'm sure shocked! The biggest teacher for me has been the internet... sad, just sad... Edit: The temple is called "Guru Nanak Sikh Temple" -khalsa starr
  21. heh! You think the drugs and crime will go away just when khalistan is made? It will get even worse. However economic oportu ites could be something to look foward too, a free country to operate would be inicing for some.
  22. Interesting, you still think women look bad in turbans, and shouldnt have to when amritdhari. Sad... we are letting sikhism (the people) get diluted It was bad for a husband to beat up his wife cause she didnt wear a turban, well, what was she doing taken amrit if she isnt willing to wear a turban?
  23. i think we all agree that we shouldnt put religion down someones throught, however, we can suggest and try to tell others what is right. That is not fanaticism, it's love. Love of a religion, and we should try to tell others of that love. in other words, remind them of who they are.
  24. Thank you, someone finally posted it again. when you become amritdhari, your supposed to put all those thought behind and try to follow the khalsa as best as possible. If you think that attitude, then why did you become part of the khalsa? Really, there is a difference between amrit and non-amrit sikhs, it's important we try not create divisions between ourselves.
