  1. I never bow to the pics, whenever i go. But to Maharaj ji instead, I think its coz of Nanaksar i got interested in Sikhi, whereas befor i went to gurdwara i used to just sit and not understand much of paat. Understand what Ragmaala is saying, i am not spokesperson either, would love to go to Kaleran one. Its the stories of Babaji being what they were that gave me hope to carry on with life. And how all their attention used to be on Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. It maybe different, but its peaceful too. Raagis also sing in Raags, that's great to listen to. Some of the best raagis i seen there, love it. Ps: also love how Maharaj ji are placed on higher position, this impressed me most, as more respect towards them automatically came within me.
  2. @2128, I like this story, is this like when we say Shabad hai Guru, te Guru hai shabad?
  3. Dont know why my posts are being copy pasted, dont think i wrote anything wrong, maybe they been misinterpreted. I am asking questions about the pics, and from what i saw on tv, my views, like everybody else. Does not mean i am on any committee side. I dont even know nothing about the committees. But i guess nobody saw the question marks behind my sentences. And to whoever is waiting for my arguments grow up, i am not here to fight, but to get an understanding of the situation. What do you expect me to say, obviously i will say what i saw, and it should be resolved peacefully, i am not going to encourage arguments, when as a viewer all i saw was people protesting and all we know as viewers is it was over a pic. its a shame like i said before this is happening in a big gurdwara like that, whether its the committees fault or whatever, it just should not come to that stage where sangat have to intervene. So now seems there was more to it then. Still think it should be resolved peacefully, anything that comes in the media causes alertness and is escalated into something which it may not be without the full information.
  4. It is not a cult. I first thought that, as i had not experienced different gurdwaras and sampardas of Sikhi. But this is the only place where i first felt peace of the mind. Read up on Baba Nand Singh ji Kaleranwale, they were a brahmgiani. I used to have dreams of a place like this and never had been to any place like it or gurdwara. I remember sayin to my grand mother years ago a gurdwara i dreamt about with the high platform for Maharaj ji. But didn't really take much note and passed it off as dream. Then years later on visiting Nanaksar, as i was sitting in darbar sahib the weirdest feeling came over me, kind of freaked me out. I felt i had been there before. When i got home i told my husband and family and cousin who took me there, it came in my dream, that style platform, and i had been there but hadn't. I wasn't makin any sense, they said you couldn't have. But i felt i had. I like the satkaar for Maharaj ji they have. And love the kirtan. Dont know much about the history yet, but its Babajis stories that attracted me, and an elderly bibi told me how she had darshan of them when she was younger. Wish there were brahmgianis like them nowadays. They concentrated on bhagti. I think the kaleran one sangat dont donate money but instead mishri or prashaad. N30S1NGH paji maybe you can enlighten on this.
  5. It is hard, others i have heard from go thru lots and they get thru it. It will be worth it if you want it to be. About being disliked, its not exactly dislike, its more that they are not familiar with your way of thinking, and that you are changing. They are only used to what they have been used to. The brain finds it hard adjusting to new things, methods, which takes time. For some people takes longer, people do give up and fall down but they also get up again, its just that they dont tell nobody. I think lots of people go thru this when starting to get on the right path. Your friends have not had the experience you have, thus they find it odd. If you give up now, i think you will come back too, if you are showing interest now, thenhis is w hat mann thinks is right.make a list of the pros and cons, the benefits normally outweigh the cons. Ask yourself what you want, do you want to follow your path and you know you will have to adjust a bit, or do you want to get drunk and mess up some girls life as well as your self respect and pride? It is possible to have friends without drinking and other bad habits. Dont stress yourself over it, with time you will realise stress is waste of time too. Try explaining to your friends what you want to do, they should understand without putting you down.and try to get different company that will make lot of difference.
  6. If you are acting the third person then yes that may happen. But why are you doing the third person mode? Just be yourself and look thru your own eyes. This dunia is the audience and you are on stage, but hun baskaro normal banjo. Kon kenda stage te khareh reho? Dizzy hojana. This post just reminded me of innergear. Are you ok?
  7. Yes as motivation techniques pics are ok, thus leading us wanting to enquire more about Sikhi. But worship, no. Its not very clear cut. But somebody that only goes to the gurdwara to do darshan of Maharaj ji would not take either of the sangats side whether pro or anti committee. With children there must have been been serious as to what is happening in the most wonderful built gurdwara of Uk. I think both sides really need to see how they are portraying themselves to the world and resolve it in different ways instead of making a tamasha of it f others to find excuses to point at us. This is exactly what oppositions want to see. It has a strong impact on the rest of the sangat and tourists. Where are the Sikh organisations in situations like this? What does Sikh council do? Is there no external body who can sort out these matters and not make the sangat suffer?
  8. I think wat a waste of police time and money over a picture. Obviously its not about one picture, probably about two sides of committees arguments, which is pathetic when involving the sangat. The sangat is divided so is going to be differences in opinions about the picture. If it was just a picture issue, i thought Guru Gobind Singh ji did not want anybody to do their pooja. Forgive me if i am wrong, but isnt that why they gave their gadhee/seat to Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, so nobody would bow down to people or pictures, but to god, Waheguru? And did they say whoever worships them will go to hell or along those lines? I heard this somewhere so can somebody please clarify it. Also if people remove or relocate pics in their own houses, do the police come then? Its over the top for just a pic, surely there must have been other issues which could have been resolved from both sides reasonably.was quite embarrassing watching this and the police must have been confused too. I am not going to believe no side, only god knows the truth, its just a shame it came to that stage, Sikhs protesting against Sikhs, and involving children too, should never have come to that in Uk too.
  9. Yeah that was a secret, i already sit in front of the tv all day lol. Changa hoa Sky + recorder hega.. .
  10. They say it probably because they have got freedom from their homes and are in another city. No its not all about girls clubbing and drinking. Ok socialize with friends, like go to town shopping, gym, etc. But if you dont feel like doing the other bits dont be forced into it. Peer group pressure is waste of time, and nobody will be with you when you need their help. Only the decent few will bother. Its all about balancing your student life and not being extremely isolated either as you need to be able to live in this world too with diversity of people. You will probably enjoy kirtan more than clubbing, coz u wont get the headache after, and not make a fool of yourself like the rest of them. Save yourself from the nashe n daru, they ruin lives not only of those doing them also of families. I think your mother would be more proud if you dont do those things, and with time she will realise what her son is doing is right. I dont know what's wrong with parents nowadays, its not cool to not be Sikh. Being cool or modern does not mean clubs or drinking. I wish i had used my uni days time more wisely and spent that time on somethin constructive, which would help to pass your exams.
  11. Wow you are doing so good, but Noways dont give up. Its like when you start something there will be obstacles and maybe hard at times, but for some people that's part of the process. And this is the enjoyable bit, probably sounds odd hearing this, but when you do your own mehnat (effort) and struggle a bit for what you want it will feel more rewarding in the end. Like sitting exams you have to study hard for them and sometimes you will feel like giving up, but you know you have to pass them to get good results and a good job. Think of this journey as the same too, you will become more wiser than without this experience. Regarding sat sangat, go to the gurdwara, is there any classes you can attend there? Some people actually are not lucky in having much sat sangat, and are grateful for all they get. As long as you believe in yourself that Waheguru is with you, that's the best sangat you can be with. Dont worry, and if you are passionate for what you want, Maharaj ji makes sure you will get it. Its not easy and its not hard, its being able to comprise with what we have and how hard we expect ourselves to work for it, without the over stress. Make it an enjoyable journey, not a stressful one and dont worry about competing with others.
  12. Its true thou isn't it. I guess this is what kalyug is then. If a little kid came up to me and said he or she was a sant, i am so naive i will probably start thinkin hmm maybe. I also heard stories that people that do no paat or dont even believe in god, that they got to meet sant, and that's how they stop drinking or their illness got better. And i am thinkin where do these people come from out of the blue? And why it not happen for others, guess its all down to karam like you said. At times i really wish there was somebody to guide me when i was dukhi at the worst, would have saved lots of tears and my health too.
  13. Hmm @kalyugi that does not work either. Hirda tha ap confuse hoa pea. Conscious dont know whether its coming or going. Ki koi kare, can't tell the difference between acting the real deal no more. If this is the case with own family members and friends then what hope is there distinguishing Sants and fakers. No like this kalyug, lol how ironic thats ur name. I like Kabir ji. Mangan maran smaan hai mat koi mange bheekh, mangan se marna bhala y eh Satgur ki seekh. Wats the point of begging, when those that are there to help dont or won't. May as well beg from god instead than a person. God has already made me meet a true Sant, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj ji, or should i say they brought me to find them. They are always there, omnipresent. With them i feel peaceful. My grandmother used to tell me stories about Sants used to come to the pind, to peoples khuh houses etc. But the stories were rare, and seems like there were not many Sants. Nowadays everybody seems to hold that title, so confusing.
  14. How would somebody like me with little knowledge be able to recognise a real Sant? I thought it was simple but seem to be getting confused. So this is wat i have decided to do. Not to worry about who is real and who is fake, as to somebody else they maybe real and to others maybe fake. Its so hard to tell the difference that i give up trying to distinguish and just stick to listening to kirtan n paat. And leave the rest to god, to lead me in the path of right people. And not listen to too many stories, and to keep my mouth shut is best thing i think. Sorryji if i said anything wrong regarding Sants/Mahapurshs, but it only meant for the fake ones, as it isis hard for western country born to recognise.
  15. Just seen this, must say very impressed with it, considering the amount of rubbish punjabi singers are releasing nowadays.
  16. Simran is good to relax your mind, and put to peace, but instead of doing myself, i find it easier to listen to for my mind to get peace..I listen to a nice relaxing one, and take in th vibrations of the music that normally stables things, music, tunes, notes are very powerful, raag shabads I love listening to. This normally calms me: When u think of it in different way rather than routine, or stress about it, try to enjoy it, try to get the loving feeling from it, if that makes sense, then it will have an effect on you...and close your eyes whilst listening to it, that helps a lot...and try going to gurdwara, when kirtan is on, thats wat made me want to go. Also i forgot, sing along with it, then u will want to do simran, and want to yearn for more, but there are phases, when i cant get that feeling, but thats ok, coz after listenin to it after a while it feels more rewarding. some people get more anand from different ways of trying it...hope it helps..
  17. wat about when they say "nai ji asi khaake aye hai", then eat the whole lot. :excited:
  18. hahahaha i love doin that, bein th host, hanji tusi hor sauce lena, ermmm hor tissue lena, i get stuck in the tissues n napkins hahahaha///
  19. lol@Wingz23. i used to think that, but one thing i cannot stand is going to somebodys house and th toilet dirty...maybe me bit fussy in that sense, dont really eat at other people's houses, but if they come to mine, i would give them what we normally eat, not make it a wedding dinner, or a restaurant. hahahaha but my previous post did sound like a restaurant with th towels etc lol, not my fault im an obsessed cleanliness freak...
  20. well i normally ask them when they arrive if they want tea or cold drink, or water. Some people give cold drink first like juice and then make tea bit after, but that's india way i think and as a guest i would not be able to have both myself, so thats y i ask their choice. After a while depending on time of day, if a while from dinner time/roti, we would give samosas, pakoras, spring rolls, with imli and tomatoe sauce, and somtimes crisps if they lucky lol....with desi tea.. they if we know how long they are stayin, normally make daal/sabji with roti and chaul.rice, if u know they are stayin for a while or comin in evening or for lunch then make whatever u would eat for that time, i normally make the daal/sabji in th morning if they comin in evening, so its ready and all that needs to be done is roti to be made or chaul/rice. Salad i cut while they are talkin, or beforehand and put in th fridge, same with th atta for rotia, knead beforehand and put in fridge until time for rotian. yoghurt we have that nyways, in tubs, normally i rinse all the dishes n glasses. cutlery under water n put side of drainer, so they are ready for when they come. if u want dessert, we normally get gulab jaman from store, or you could give them cake or make kheer. thats it really, i tend to go overboard on the condiments, and tissues and light a scented candle so th room smells nice, and open th windows before they come, and i make sure the toilets and sinks are clean and always put out guest towels and soap for them. thats it basically, but i always ask if they want a sandwich instead, and if they turn up unexpectedly, we get a pizza or make pasta with chips... i normally think what i would want to eat if i went to somebodys as guest, and what i could digest so tend to keep it minimal and edible, without going over the top on food side. hope that helps.
  21. I not met a sant either. I know we should respect the mahapursh, but even when i seen ppl who call them sants, didnt really feel much. Just like normal people. If there was so much they are praised for they can do, then how come they cannot get rid of my dukh? Then comes the issue of not asking for worldly things. If Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is there to guide us, what do they do exactly, and why they get so much special treatment? This is wat i dont understand. Why will they only go to those peoples houses they prefer to? Mostly with money ones. Why dont they sit on normal sofa or floor like everybody else when they just been doing it ten mins ago in the car or where they came from? Why dont they stop it and say no i will be same as you and sit with you? They are not god, and the real sants will never show they are different, or say they want to be treated that way. Even if they do meet people, why are people always scared of them as to what they say, and would not be from the granthi and not care how they talk in sangat, but its a big deal in front of them. I have heard Babaji Nand Singh ji, never let women in front of them without a man present being either her father brother husband or somebody she would know. So how come now women do all this cheow meooww drama nowadays, and fill their egos? Dont people learn from the past? Worldly tours are good i think as they are teaching people and guiding them right way, i love how kirtani jathe or knowledgeable person comes from India to uk, to do that. I learn more this way, but i dont like the over special treatment that is applied, and worship kind of mentality that is given. Ok respect i agree but our Gurus taught us too everybody is equal, and to me i would include sants and mahapursh too. Respect yes, but worship no.
