  4. @MsShergill1991 dont listen to the other girls, its only because they dont understand what it's like to have long hair. Once you start cutting your hair it will be very hard for you to keep it long when you are older, as when we are younger we want to be modern, etc. But cutting hair does not mean you will fit in with society. Society is composed of different sorts of people from a diversity of people. And being Sikh is one of them. Like others images from society will look different, having long hair a Sikhs part of a Sikhs image. With long hair you get energy, its good for your health, less anger, and other reasons for keeping long hair. Doesnt matter whether you are not Gursikh now, but later on you will want to be part of the sikhi faith, whether in the upcoming period, or when you're older. When one starts cutting hair, later on in life its so hard to grow it again, then people regret why they ever cut it. And cool your hair is down to your hips, thats wonderful, a lot of girls dreams would be to have long hair, so be proud of it and of who you are. You are an inspiration to other girls to keep long hair and not to eat meat. Its just that your friends dont understand why. Try to educated them sensibly and when they realise why you do this, then they too will feel want to.

    I Was Raped

So glad you had the courage to speak out. And happy you are getting the support from those around you. I hope your post helps other girls/women that may have gone thru the same situation as you and that nothing deters them from speaking up and to ask for help. This is 2012, and no female should be afraid of being a Sikh female. Our Gurus gave women equal rights and we should be proud to be Sikh females. You are a strong princess and may waheguru keep you that way and give you strength to overcome this.
  10. Bhenji sorry to hear u are going thru so much, I understand its very difficult time you are going through, but please dont keep it inside, try to talk to somebody about it, and get help with ur life. I know easier said than done, but it does help to talk, or see a professional. Have u ever had counselling for wat happened to you when u were younger? We sometimes think we are strong inside, but we are at the end of the day, human, and not perfect. Try to approach ur doctor, I know people think wat will the doctor do, but they can guide u in the right direction to get counselling or some sort of help so you dont have to deal with this on ur own. Waheguru will help you through this, as humans we will go through bad phases, where our faith is lowered, but its our past karms like others have said that we are dukhi. We can help ourselves by doing simran, and to get help from those that are involved in our daily lives. There is are organisations such as Kaur project, sikhhelpline, if you want to talk to somebody in confidence,or they can contact u back if u are not up to it. Dont ever give up, and get as much help as u can from be it the council, doctor, finance advisors, wherever u can get it the more it contribute to making life a bit easier for you.
  11. @rinku_sikh, yes this is where people like me get confused as to what to call them, Bhagat or Guru. I'm sure youngsters born in uk are in the same position aswell, because if i was to walk into a Ravidass gurdwara I would not know any different and think of as a mainstream gurdwara. ~Until one does their research, it is very confusing.
  12. WJKK WJKF I also agree with Singhwarrior. Its the higher caste sikhs that always used to belittle them, and not allow them equal rights. My grandparents used to tell me lots of stories of how they were looked down upon, and not even eat from the same household. Thus the reason why they wanting to go their own way. Its great sangat tv are showing them on their channel. thats the only way to integrate them otherwise lose them.
  13. lol - stress hogi c...she needs to go on the make bradford british show.
  14. I saw a preview of it but wasnt sure how big his role was.. will try to watch it to see wat its all about.
  15. WJKK WJKF The answer maybe in ur question. Go to sleep earlier, maybe an hour earlier, its not as if u would fall asleep exactly at 11pm on the dot. The body and brain takes time to wind down. You are only getting maybe 3.5 to 4hrs sleep, thus u getting tired.

  18. WJKK WJKF I dont feel that I've given the wrong advice, until u are in that situation you dont know wat to do. I have not told him to hide behind a sofa, I have only said not to provoke the man, as how do u know who he is or he can or cannot do @westlondon. I have been in that situation and when there was nobody to help me I did have the guts as female all by myself and say to a so-called baba, kharabah wat my thoughts were. And where did I end up? My whole life was ruined, whereas the ones that stayed quiet are fine and prosperous. So to me it is not bad advice. What if the OP is not amritdhari, where is he going to get lots of amritdharis to come to his house? Thats why I have directed him in the right direction where he can get help, more than wat i did when i was in that situation, which is bit more that wat u have done. If u feel so strongly about it you go and help him, you may save somebodys life. I have also told him that baba can do nothing to him, and to be strong also, but guess u never read that bit. You probably dont have no experience of babeh-kharabeh. You are right 100% westlondon in that he should not be afraid of this man, yes tackle him, and paji's faith in gurbani should make him stronger, and be able to confront this man, you are very right,, but when i was in my situation i did not know wat gurbani was or about sikhi. When i say dont provoke the man, im saying for the benefit of the paji so he does not have any repercussions, coz even to this day i have an inner fear of the wrong company that i became entrapped by and nightmares. and i keep thinking to myself if only i hadnt defended myself. But u know wat thinking back now, i dont regret wat i did, even thou i ruined my life over it. At least now i am learning wat sikhi is all about.,
