  1. I've learnt a lot from this site not this thread. I need to be a good huma being first before even contemplating being a sikh (the pinaccle).
  2. What needs to be done will never be done. PB Govt. needs to make PB a dry state just like GJ (Gujrat), theres no thekheh etc. ONly avialaible in top hotels. Not freely aviable of course there is black market and people make desi but it is so much harder to by alcohol in places like 'gujrat compaired to Punjab. Like US all states have different laws. Prohibition is rife. Did you know legally you can buy opiates (phem) in West Bengal dates back to the raj as Calcutta was the first capital of East India Co after 1857 it was shifted toDelhi and Shimla.
  3. Letme break it down -Its not about arguing with moorakhs its about having a conversation, some of us have not been lucky enough to been raised Sikh. WE WANT to learn, and learn with things that make sense. NO hocus pocus ritual stuff Meaning we want to learn the facts not made up stuff some people tell us an expect us to believe without any explanation or the reason as to why. I know a lot of people my age 30+ have no interst in faith I want to learn, so if someone llike me posses a question is not nice to make the person feel small and say don't talk to ignorant people. Atleaset back yourself up. Please just provide an answer or kindly direct us in the right way. Instead of name calling. Imagine if no one taught you would you also want to learn of your own back or continue to live in ignorance.
  4. Again put things into context, look at the whole picture (or words written). I would never ever justify a man laying a finger on a women. No man should hit a women, it is wrong. BUT please how ever wrong it was as no man should ever hit a women - it was mild violence a few shoves and a slap and pushes. Now what would you define as mild violence? BTW why respond to only half of the post. What about the swearing and how it would have made the women more lady like without resulting to foul language, kids watch this forum, the dirty swears are not appropriate for this site, but you decided not to comment on that. Also the fact that the women would have morally been untouchable for acting in such a dignified way if she had not said what she did. Also elaborate on my cunning plans I wanted to meet you in a public place (even offered to pay your taxi/ train fare) like hotel lobby or even the gurdwara sahib nearest to you, but obviously you feel more comfortable behind a screen where no one can talk face to face. Not you but many talk a big game but do no action. I've asked to meet fellow members regarding stuff (i.e. beadbi and other issues, first there likeyeah we need to take actionlets meet up, when I suggest a place how many turn up ZERO). I am what you see is what you get I have nothing to hide nor do I folow the crowd due to peer pressure, If I feel something is right I stick by my convictions. EDIT It's laughable the amount of times some members change their minds when the debate swings the other way. If you feel something is righ, why not stick to your convictions instead of being sheep and following the herd even if in your heart of heartsyou know you are only doing so so you don't look bad to the cyber sangat.
  5. Sikhs are Sikhs. Culturally threre maybe differences but religiously Sikhi is Sikhi. gujrat is nearer to Punjab tahn Bihar and Maharastra where there are takht sahibs, The Singhs may culturallydifferent but you tend to find where there is a minority they tend to take the faith more seriously. just look at Pakistan, you will hardly see or even hear of a mona Sikh. If they are not amritdhari they are at least keshdhari.
  6. MSG to only5 i've asked you before please I don't want to corrosponde with you. You may be a good sikh but you are not a good human. You didn't even have decency to meet up when i came to Canada. Please don't respond to me.
  7. -GuptKaur_ fitting in with uni is hard if your out your comfort zone. But come on this is the real world we have to adjust. We meet people like that. Put your self and beliefs across and ask them any questions and answer them. It's your flat as much as theres. So pleae don't avoid them uni is the time to make friends fror live esp. if similar fiels you'd be mazed how much work you can swing and just watch you quartely bonus! Look you get up for amritvela and they fet in fron clubbing come end of year they will envy your commitement. P.S don't let them take advantage of you and if its to much ask the uni to allow you to move halls provide evidence. Hopefully next year live with same like minded amritdhari / sikh friends. pm if you want xtra advice, where are you studying my family deal in renting student houses are you mids based?
  8. I read of this stroy on this site, it really made tears in my eyes. How could someone behave like this with a poor defencless baby. All parents will no you will not let your baby cry or be in discomfort for a nanosecond but this - I am always advocating fair trails if the person accussed is found guilty he should be castrated and all his cell mates be made aware of his crime. Makinig by blood boil!!!
  9. PLEASE someone with SIKH knowledge provide answer on this I really want to know the answer to this. MY OPINION is NO WAY the poor baby was assaulted. Unlike me don't post what you think please honestly post Sikhi answer.
  10. Its not about arguing with moorakhs its about having a conversation, some of us have not been lucky enough to been raised Sikh. WE WANT to learn, and learn with things that make sense. 11. All hair above the skin is also dead scientifically. It will hurt if you pull it as you are pulling the roots under the skin, if you have long hair try folding it near the base and then pull - does it hurt answer is NO. Also those who say hair stands on end on our arms if scared or cold thats just the muscles contracting under the skin. Hair above skin is dead. Cut any hair above the skin it will never hurt. Nails grown beyond the finget tip.don't hurt as they are dead. Try cutting nails from the base or half way through, it's alive and HURTS!!!!
  12. VeryBad the MP was so wrong. The lady however could have come out off it smelling of roses instead of ruining it at the end swearing in Punjabi so much. (Heatof the moment etc. but keep cool you know theres loads of media there, make your point and hold the higher ground). This video is not very good to be viewed by younger members, lots of punjabi swearign and very mild violence.
  13. Anyone can do it, you don't need to be there in Leicester, in the Guru Tegh Bhaudur Gurdwara sahib, there just doing a test too look for a match. Not 100% sure how it works.but I thinks it a bone marrow match that is needed, not sure how they find it i.e. saliva, blood etc. Just get in contact with anthony Nolan trust they will give you exact info of what you need to do. It is very quick and it is not very painful BUT IT MAY SAVE A LIFE. Our community doesn't take part in these activities unless it affects them directly. As Sikhs we are to Das Vand, Vand Shako and Kirat Karoo. Well by helping like this fulfills all duties of a sikh and more.Sikhs esp. younger generation need to start getting invovlved in these things and even giving blood etc. It is a fact Asian's are build differently to Whites so the body requires slightly different things Im no doctor, BUT please help out when a fellow Sikh ask's, they will be forever indebted and there live will be saved not just theres but wife, kids, parents, siblings list is endless. If you can help PLEASE do. Check out http://www.anthonynolan.org/ Rab Rakha paaji Waheguru ji dee kirpa nall sab kuch teekh hornah.
  14. Yes smoking is wrong in Sikhi and also socailly it is frowned upon. But if somnone smokes how can you deny them entry to Gurghar, Gurdwareh are for all. You can't judge. (off course due respect is required, no smoking on premises or before entrering). Where do you draw the line Sikhi wise like if someone cuts hair shall we refuse entry etc. It's interesting members point thing out on here but take no action, like search this forum someone complained about Sikh Channel staff smelling of fags in gurdwara and had fags on them they rightfully found it disgusting but what did they do, when I asked them did they confront or inform it's wrong - no NOTHING- not even explian to them it was not the right thing let alone kick them out for carrying tobbaco. We have to educate your brethren about these issues I used to smoke then Giani Ji Lal Singh inspired me and talked about it with me not looking down or saying I will 'go ot hell / I disgrace Sikhi etc' but had a proper 2 way conversation. I eventually quit.. We need more Giani's like him who are not judgemental or take fudermentalist approach by not even giving you the time of day for your actions as it's anti Sikh. They need to help you out like say a type of counciller. Particular Giaini Ji is semi retired now anyone from Leicester must know him from Guru Amar Das Gurdwara sahib. He is a true Giani - guiding, advising, helping and not being judgemental towards the sangat. He looks for the good in you not your outer appearence. His tabla player when doing kirtan Gaini Ram Singh Ji passed away last year, he also was very good. Im suprised not many young Leicester Uni students attend as it is like literally 5 -7 mins walk to campus.
  15. Congrats, it was a youtube vid, maybe made for a localprogramme. (As you wounln't have seen the people was acrosss the frame). You can get high qualityproductions but unless if seva is done then this is the quality we will and should expect. Atleast someone has stepped upand actually produced a vid and uploaded it for the whole sangat to view,
  16. LOOK - How lady like, back in the raj, my pops would tell me strories of how civilivsed these Britishers were (OH yes BTW, in another thread they said there was no such word but there is), they looked down on Indians and they gave there seats up even though they had tickets and the whites didn't. They did not like them on the whole but they had manners.
  17. TRy the internet, if not where in London east or West (South, north or central), are you it's not a small place as it'll be cheaper to buy online a P+P raather than go round London looking. If your in nonc sikh area.
  18. WJKK WJKF, Does anyone have info on Baba Jhund Gurdwara sahib, Pind Chak Singha, on the road to Rurki khas over the bridge. After which come Allachuar, Sunny_love_kirtan is his village and knows about the sants in Allachaur, any info on Baba Jhund Ji, Chak Singha. Only pics on internet. Help required PLEAE I got to find some thing out. I was told something not many sangat know about and want to verfiy pls. Chak Singha 6th guru Ji visited Gurdwara in his rememeberance, surrounding areas Chak Hajipur, Chak guru, Samundra and Dhamai, Thanks in advace. Fateh!
  19. please read history. Non- Amritdhari sikhs performed the rites of SGGS whilst Sihs were in the jungles. and NO not all were dodgy MAHANTS. Just research the era. Many non keshdhari peoplpe had more love, sharda, satkarr for SGGS Ji that many others
  20. I am sorry to add, evident from post on this site there seem to be a number of members on this site who not noly indulge but feel the need the to share their experiences on this site. So many people guys (may girls as they may alos), post about mas*****g, well that is also cheating as you must imagine somone who like or something else. LETS JUST SAY THAT ISAKIN TO PRE-MARTIAL SEX AS YOU ARE IMAGINING YOURSELF WITH SOMEONE SO PLEASE STOP. sikhI we only do it with our partner so stop doing these things concentrate on other activities.
  21. Ok - from non sikhi view - what makes sensec to have relations with someone you have known in hours and be expected to sleep with them or someone who know for months and mutually you wan to do it?
  22. Sorry this maybe inappropriate, but I don't see the big deal. The OP shoudln't over dwell and beat himeslf over it. Heres a fact sexual intercourse is a natural urge like many other things such as eating, only we need to eat every day to live We also NEED 'do it so mankind continues' (or pleasure, if your not at that level). A natural urge we all do but don't talk about as it is like going to the toilet. We all need and do it. If you make love, im talking about LOVE with some one care for you get to know them. Well it's better to get to know your partner and commit to physical relations once you are both willing and want too. As I know of arrange marriages you have only met a few times and I mean a few times over chai / somosa etc get married. The day after the Anand Karj the couple sleep in the same bed and may indulge in natural urges. Some gorah akin it to a desi on night stand, but its forever! No get out of jail free card!!! IS it not right to sleep with someone you have dated for along time and then do it with a marraige in view or is it better just being introduced and then marrying not getting to know the partner and you know shuaag raat!. Well maybe these things should be asked amongst the couple with upmost confidence without humiliating the other on your few minute chat to get to no each other. As you can always tell if a girl is virign after. But the question I ask is SO what if the person you have arrange marriage with has been with a partner before? Is it ok for guy not girl? Nor both? EDIT On a side note there a lot of threads on here about mas******ing, well that is alos cheating to an extenct, as they must be imagining / viewing somthing so maybe that needs to be thrown into the mix? ITS KALJUG we all have these urges to be with somone as long as its for the right reasons l see no wrong i.e. long term partner, who yuo may want to marry
  23. Any way I know theres no place for caste in Sikhi, but sometimes theres only a place for a certain type of person to be able to call him/herslf a Sikh. Anyway it's my bedtime I'm going. Goodnight.
  24. Why i'm i described as ignorant. I know the facts. It just that you can't have it both ways either I am Sikh and so is my family (married to non-born Sikh, and have 2 kids I cut my hair) when it suits me to be described as a Sikh or I'm a triator to the faith as I have been called alot worse and have been made to feel very uncomfortable.
