  1. you are totally generalizing. i know amazing"bhappe" singhnis and singhs that inspire me..
  2. sorry i mean guru ji didnt let maya overpower him he remained one with vaheguroojee.
  3. ------------------------------------------------------------------ God is not a person, has no dress, isnt in one body... god is everywhere and in all of us. its sort of like god everywhere but maya is what seperates us from god. maya is kaam(desire) krodh(anger) lobh(greed) moh(attatchment) hakaar(ego).. we all human beings have all these things... people that do naam japp wash away their sins and get rid of maya so they become one with god... the boundary between them and the world vanishes. In sikhi philosophy isn't black and white. Guru Nanak Dev Jee recognized that Vaheguroojee is everywhere. Gurujee got rid of the maya so Guru Jee became jot of Vaheguroojee himself. Bhagat Kabeer Jee Bhagat Dhanna Jee all recognized that jot in them. Bhagat Kabeer Ji Bhagat Dhanna Jee and Guru Nanak Dev Jee became Vaheguroojee by meditating on Naam Thats why their teachings are exactly the same http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=5772 Listen to this.. This isnt a question you need to ask others answer is in Gurbani.. Read Japji sahib and Jaap Sahib with translation or put it on follow with english translation
  4. when i wasn't into sikhi, i was into guys too like most teenage girls are although i didnt have a boy friend. I mean i had crushes but i always knew i wanted to marry a guy with pagh and dardi, i think its because my dad kept dardi and pagh. I remember hanging out with sikh punjabi friends and they asked what kind of guy i would want to marry.. i said someone with pagh and dardi and then my friends made fun of me because they said thats a bit backward and not attractive. although i wasnt into sikhi it really hurt me to see someone say that because after all it was like attacking my identity. it surprised me the girl who said she said she wants to marry a mona has dad who keeps a full kesh and dardi. I think the reason i always wanted to marry someone who kept kesh and dardi is because my dad was the ideal figure for me its like how guys always want someone like their mom, my dad is an amazing person because he doesn drink or do anything bad. he was the only person who did paath and cared about sikhi in my whole family My non desi friend once asked me whether i would marry nonpunjabi I said No!! and she thought i was a racist just because thats not what i prefer. Its considered good in western society to marry outside of ur race because this shows that you are moving away from "racism" but marrying a muslim is a red flag because most of them (although not all) try to convert you or abuse you because they see you as inferior and think you have no moral values so its okay to play with your feelings. I think it is parents fault but its too easy to blame it on parents. Its our whole community's fault because we tend to think that taking sikhi seriously is "backwards" or we think having strict religious values is moving away from modernization. Media plays a big role in why people feel the way they do. I think there is a lot of need of parchaar, sikh camps and reinsabaiis everywhere Muslims have all the resources in the world. Their community emphasises Religion their culture emphasis religion but our culture emphasis sharaab and bhangra more than shaheedis and religion thats why punjab is flooded with drugs today. If we choose to make a difference we have to start defining our culture in a new way.. a better way so we dont make our sisters that are going to shape the future generation like a cheap commodity. We have to tell them sakhis of sikhs, tell them about Ghallugharas... My muslim friend kinda went off track behind her parents pack because they are too strict never let her go out and do anything.. they were always watching her so once she got in college she went a little crazy over this nonmuslim/nondesi guy.. i told her to stop unless she wants to get killed. :\ soo restricting ur kids and being tooo strict isn't the solution. dont be toooo thilley but also make sure ur kids arent going off track our desi parents dont know how to parent in this new generation sometimes.. :\ I wasnt taught about Sikhi either.. what got me into it is learing about shaheeds, Operation Blue star and the sikh genocide really made me want to learn more... then being able to go get sangat eventhough i live where theres NO sangat..we would drive with another sikh family to other states just for reinsabaii kirtan and that really made me learn about sikhi... every parent should try their best....take ur kids to reinsabaiii..get them sangat if you want them into sikhi.. educate them... and us as a community need to redefine our culture... Remember to raise ur kids with so much sikhi that they cant even think of marrying someone non sikh dont poison them against muslims or hindus... raise them with pyar and respect for sikhi.. if you cut ur kids hair just because u are ashamed (i know ppl that did this because they dont want to walk around with someone looking different than gores) then might as well convert to another religion if ur not proud of ur heritage today a gora guy came upto me and started asking about my "headdress" lol i told him i am sikhi.. and he was like ahhhh sikhs fought for the british..they are very brave people... i was like yeah we sure are.. joking i just smiled back
  5. our community is sucha failture when it comes to helping the needy especially people from our own community. you should talk to him and try to help out when you see him. talk to gurudwara committe or other singhnis and singhnis that you think could help. there is a group on facebook for homeless sikhs in southhall i think.. i am not from england so i dont know... but you should definitely do something about it.. best thing would be to talk to him or take someone older and more wise to talk to that baba..

  7. I have not assumed, you serious need to re-read what I said because you did not get all of what I said. Christians are arrogant because they don't follow the Satguru same with Muslims. What these people do follow is their religious text. Their religious text are not the Satguru who teaches Gurmat for that reason they can collect some knowledge of God, but they cannot completely commit to their religious text because it's also teaches against Gurmat. Again those that don't know any better and I stress again the story of Bhagat Dhanna Jatt, they will attain Sri Waheguru ji through dedication not through their religious text. Dhanna Jatt did not see the sight of Sri Waheguru ji Maharaj because he worshipped a stone, but because his dedication and love for Sri Waheguru ji Maharaj was there completely. Shabad Guru is not just speaking to Sikhs. People serious need to understand this point. When Shabad Guru says to do a command that is for everyone in this world. Again those that are not aware of the Shabad Guru will be given chances if it's in their karma and if they show complete dedication, then Sri Waheguru ji Maharaj will show his sight to them. yh i agree with what you said but what i was trying to say is that we cant say that someone who has no clue about sikhi cant attain vaheguroojee because anyone can japp naam and guru ji can show anyone the truth.. guru granth sahib ji the truth because thats what all the bhagats and guru jis practiced.. i guess i agree with you.. but if a muslim loves god because of quranic verses than he is better than those born into sikhi but love gurus word.. i dont know actually.. but i know that guru granth sahib ji is universal and god is one for all human beings he himself can show people what true love is, not saying i know gurmat or i am in true love with vaheguroojee because i am too much into maya to be that..

  9. ummm is it okay to wear color kacheere?
  10. sorry i am gona go a little off topic but we cant assume that all christain muslims are stereotypical arrogant, and think their way is the right way. there are christain monks that are in love with god.. and hardcore muslims that remember god all the time... there is a mona sikh who is a total nitnemi wakes up amritvela does his nitnem compare to me... :\ i look singhni but kam singhniavale nai. we cant generalize.. but sikhi is amazing because it has bani of bhagats from muslim background, hindu background... but they didnt believe in anything different because the truth is vaheguroojee he is ONE. they all recognized that truth... which is why in gurbani bhagat kabeer jis bani is hard to distinguish from guru nanak dev ji and guru nanak dev jis banis hard to distinguish from guru gobind singh jis...the truth is the same for all.. sikhi is a religion that encourages us to recognize that truth.. we get lost in the world that we see.. we start living in something that is made up..and lose our chance to become one with vaheguroojee which is the goal for all human beings regardless of whether they are christain, jewish, hindu or muslim... goibMd goibMd goibMd sMig nwmdyau mnu lIxw ] gobi(n)dh gobi(n)dh gobi(n)dh sa(n)g naamadhaeo man leenaa || Naam Dayv's mind was absorbed into God, Gobind, Gobind, Gobind. 12. banksy has a facebook! :O

  13. veerji the truth is that anyone who does naam japp will become one with vaheguroojee LOVE is the ONLY path to god..doing naam japp with love makes you unite with vaheguroojee.. i dont like people arguing/debating by using gurbani lines because i think gurbani is way too vast.. "god is too big to fit into one religion"- yeh true... thats why in japji sahib guru ji emphasize how one cant describe god because god has no limits just as jaap sahib.. guru ji emphasize that god has no one form, no one color, dress.. yet any form..when u read bani of jaap sahib you realize that one cant really understand god.. we can just experience god. sikhi is a religion but its not like christanity and islam we dont go around converting people sikhi is love for god.. its true essense is naam japna..falling in love with god...recognizing one god.. not allah god not jesus god not vaheguroo god like some people say... its recognizing vaheguroojee as allah... and allah as vaheguroojee understanding that everyone in this world... are just like us but they dont have what we have... that is gurbani. i am not bashing other religions but you can read any religious text but you cant find something as pleasing as gurbani. saudewala saad is just a horrible person i can say that because he is why so many singhs are in jail he is a political person.. :\ please read these http://www.prisonerw...soners-letters/ listen to this katha...
  14. some people are trying to say gay marriage is wrong as they are attracted towards other males.. and its a kaami thing.. :\ well if a gay person wants to marry their partner and is serious about sikhi who are we or anyone to deny them anandkaraj and allow it for someone who doesnt even care about sikhi.. some sikhs that marry someone from other religion get married in gurudwara and then somewhere else.. (mandir) why is that allowed and not gay marriage? how can we say its okay to not really follow sikhi and take anandkaraj as if it has no meaning... i bet a lot of people that marry sikhi way and arent into sikhi dont even know what anandkaraj mean.. they just do it.. so why do that.. take false vows because anandkaraj mean two people marrying to be spiritual together and help eachother become one with that jot.. .so what i am trying to say is that people take false vows.. hows that okay and gay marriage isnt okay? ---- read my previous post i am not saying gay marriage is allowed in sikhi i am just saying that since gurbani doesnt address this issue, we shouldnt be assuming things, arguing further on this topic as its coming from us manmukhs. we have less knowledge about this issue and shouldnt say sikhi allows it or rejects it because we cant speak for the whole kaum we arent worthy of it"
  15. sikhi doesnt talk about gay marriage, therefore we shouldnt use sikhi to prove that its right/ wrong. i personally think gays should have full freedom but it would be awkward to see them get marrid in a gurudwara so i dont know about this but the article is really offensive as it makes gays look immoral. back to the point, it would be wrong for anyone including sgpc to deny the gays that are sikh... it would be wrong for us to say anything because our knowledge is very limited. we shouldnt get into this stuff.. i do support gay marriage though.. but it would be weird to have it take place in the gurudwara but again thats just my opinion.. we shouldnt act like we know better i guess... and say sikhi accepts/rejects gays.
  16. well how about people that do anandkaraj but dont really care about advancing in sikhi.. ? should they not do anand karaj then..?
  17. depend on what you hate about him.. and what you love about him
  18. put kirtan on while you study.. or sukhmani sahib..
  19. looking into eyes make you see your responsibility towards panth we need to make sure what happened to this singh doesn't happen again. apart from supporting prisonerwelfare.com.... what can we do on our own, living so far away from homeland.. please give your opinion about what we should do! this is important we need to look after singhs and singhnis before anyone
  20. i dont think its just punjabi culuture its most cultures out there that favor men over women.. men think its okay to have power over women.. hence its totally okay to rape, molest or use people... and sexual desire is a maya thing we all have it.. we cant demonize pendus/punjabi culture.. i think the reason its bad in rural areas is because no one cares!! people dont talk about this. in punjabi culture honor is sucha big thing when you talk about taboo things like this people freak out!! punjabi parents dont talk to their kids about all this openly which is why when they fall prey to perverts..

    I Did A Sin

see the panj pyare. get more sangat. attend the reinsabaais, other kirtan smagams..most important thing is to realize you did something wrong and then never repeat it again.. i think we all go wrong at one point in life but we should learn from it and become better!! dont do what you did... because you cant advance in sikhi like that read more about shaheeds.. thats what brought me into sikhi.. read about their jeevanis.. and attend a lot of reinsabaiis..nomatter if they are far or near..
  22. this is a little off topic you cant say that "guys from punjab have simply no ethic or morals" stop generalizing.. !! its a problem in many men nomatter what religion and where they are from.. maya doesnt discriminate!! the problem is that some men think they cant get away with these things. they dont think they would be questioned. one cant distinguish between right and wrong when ur drunk on maya.. sexual abuse, molesting women is so prevalent in our society yet the when i was younger i went to gurudwara...there was going to be a samagam there i was only 12... as i was walking out of the darbar hall and this guy was looking for a chair he was about 80 and couldnt sit on the carpet... he had pain in his joints so... i got him a chair so he could sit.. and he got really weird and started touching me in wrong ways in front of everyone in the darbar hall.. then his wife came and told him to stop!! and got mad at him.. but for me it was so traumatizing i just sat there and cried. being the victim of perverts wasnt the first and the last time for me it happens to so many girls but they dont say anything because they are afraid that they will be blamed for it.. or they dont want to create a scene its usually men as predators and women as victims..but not always.. men continue to do it because they dont think they will ever be punished for what they do.. its so easy to blame it on the girl when something like this happens people put more focus on the faults in girl such as how she dressed, did she talk to men, did she try to catch attention but less on why men do it? why is our society to so messed up that it allows such things to happen!??
