  1. You right! I'm not sure which one is better, the one that kills the animal, or the one that eats the animal. Because isn't the one that kills the animal at least witnessing the truth? And isn't he just killing the animals because the animal eater pays him to kill the animal (like somebody pays a contract killer/hitman??). I mean, if nobody paid the animal killer wouldn't he just stop? If the supply stops, the killing stops
  2. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, You know, when I joined SikhSangat a few weeks ago I had some expectations of the knowledge level on here. However, seeing some of the posts by some of the members... I'd can say that my expectations have been far exceeded. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do! If you think I'm just trying to make you feel good about yourselves and trying to ingratiate myself with the more knowledgeable members on SikhSangat, then you'd be right!
  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh This Bibi really knows her stuff!!! Does anyboy know which Singh Dr Mohinder Kaur is referring to on the 2nd video at 8.40 minutes? Also, a real must is to listen to the 4th Video from 2.40 minutes. It settles all the discussing we have been having on the Panj Bania for Amrit Sanchar.I wish I was as intelligent as this Bibi!! Good find Singh559
  4. Chatanga, I really can't see how SinghStah is trying to score points. He is just trying to present people with the truth on how chicken nuggets, bacon sausage and eggs, burgers, tuna etc is put on to their plates today. He also showed me how the milk I drink gets into my cup! We can't bury our heads in the sand and hide from the truth of current day farming. Your absolutely right! EVERYONE should watch this video. You don't have to answer this question, but, regardless of whether you eat meat, or not, what feelings do you get when you watch the above video? To back up your point, the feelings you get will not be any different from anyone else, I'm guessing?
  5. Veer Ji Deepu1, Whenever you feel angered or hurt by the comments of unhappy people just make yourself stronger as a Sikh. Do more naam jaap, do more honest Kirt, Wande Chak even more (and teach other Sikhs, Sikh Children and Adults, to do this too). For you see, every honest Sikh you help to say true to their faith is like knife in the heart of these Nazi Racist Neo Facists who hate the humanity that is different to them, even though that humanity was created by God too! These people do not understand the simple fact that God created the whole of humanity, and not just Hindus!.
  6. I still maintain that we should stay as close to the Puratan Amrit Sanchar as we possibly can. Especially for Sikhs who have yet to take Amrit. It seems to me that those who take the full bania da Amrit Sanchar never have any doubts. So why would we possibly want to create any doubters? for example, you never hear anyone say that, "I wish they had read shorter bania at my Amrit Sanchar". The panj bania read out on Visakhi when Guru Ji gave amrit to the Panj Piyare and then took amrit from the Panj Piyare must have be recorded, and followed by, the hundreds and thousands of Sikhs who took Amrit in that year alone, and the following year, and the following year, and so on. And then those Bania must have been past down generation to generation. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the Panj Piyare must have given so many Amrit Sanchars between 1699 to 1708. And those Singh's who took that Amrit Sanchar must have given their own Amrit Sanchars as groups of 5 too. I believe they actually have the Gotker Sahib's of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji and Baba Deep Singh Ji even today and that they clearly show what the 5 Bania to be used for Amrit Sanchar. I am sure that the Nighangs also do the full Panj Bania (correct me if I am wrong) Evolution is mentioned above. Could us evolving mean we actually move away from the 1930's British Raaj Era of the shortened 5 Bania, and evolve to the1699 full 5 Bania?
  7. Thank for that - it explains everything i.e what this Dilgeer individual is about. Mind you, Veer Ji's (Panthic Updates) post is so well written and conculsive. It's so easier to track and check by anyone (which is always a sign of truth!!!)
  8. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. I love reading factual posts like this, it brings Sikhi right back into the present. I am particurlarly grateful to you for presenting this shabad. It brings me so much happiness to read the words our Tenth Master Dhan Dhan Sir Guru Gobind SIngh Sahib Ji Maharaaj wrote about the 9 Gurus who proceeded him (with the same Jot) May Vaheguru bless you in your work for the panth!
  9. I think dalsingh has hit the nail on the head! Everyone is welcome in the Gurdwara - in my life experience nobody has ever been turned away (unless, they are being deliberately extremely disrespect towards Guru Ji or the Sangat. However, getting back to Dal Singh's point, although we never turn anyway away, what do we actually do to help someone who was NOT born into a Sikh family, into Sikhi. I mean really, when a white, black, or non-Sikh Asian person walks into a Gurdwara, maybe with even a view to join the Sikh faith, who would approach and encourage that person to keep on coming back to the Gurdwara? If a Sikh Girl walked into a Mosque or Church on one of their busy occasions I bet you that somebody would probably pounce on them straight away. We would probably criticise them for this, but isn't that them just 'being' welcoming?? If a non-Sikh Asian girl, or black or white Muslim or Christian Girl walked into a Gurdwara, how long would it take for somebody to ask that girl if she was actually looking to become a Sikh? Some of this may just be down to Sikhs not trying to take people away from their religion. But if that's the case aren't we always going to be losing numbers? Think about it, there's only 3 ways a religion can grow in numbers, these are:- either everybody gets married and has more than two children who stay in the faith (More Muslims are getting married and having more children than Sikhs) and Nobody leaves that religion (as you say in the posts above, Muslims condition their children not to leave their faith) Or thirdly, new members come into that religion (We keep saying that Muslims will go to the extent of tricking our children into their faith, whereas we won't even approach non-Sikhs to ask if they want to become a Sikh, even when they walk into a Gurdwara! - do any of you know anyone who has done that???) Question is: what does the Shabad "Aap Japo Avra Naam Japavo" actually mean? Does it mean encourage everyone to do naam jap, including non-Sikhs…. But then when they develop a True Love for SGGS Ji as a result of Naam Jap are we then there to truly welcome them into Sikhi, even if they are a non-Sikh Asian, or black or white?? Or do we get them to develop a love for the naam and then leave them out in the 'cold' because they were never born a Sikh? Remember, the Muslims are taking full converts for non-Muslim Asians, and black and white people. We accept people are leaving Sikhi - but more importantly how many new members are we welcoming into Sikhi as ‘full converts’?
  10. The video about the water being controlled and sold to people by companies.... hasn't that already been done years ago in the Punjab? I mean hasn't the indian government already built dams to block most of the 5 rivers water into the Punjab? An aren't the indian government selling the water back to the people of Punjab at a higher rate than the whisky they sell in Punjab (you know those whisky bottles that have "only for sale in Punjab" printed on them. Anyone would think that that was a conspiracy by the indian government to make all Punjabis become alcoholics by taking their water away from them and then making whisky cheaper than water? But that can't be the case? Can it???? There is a topic on this forum that includes a film about the polluted water in punjab. It shows how the indian government take money off poor villages to promise them water tanks full of drinking water but then the indian government never supplies the water. But then the indian government makes sure there is whisky available to drink at all times, in the Punjab! How kind of them!:BL:
  11. Which oil is at the top of the Charts at the moment? Which oil is best for your beard? Is it: Mustard Oil Coconut Oil Alma Oil Olive Oil Baby Oil. Castor Oil or another one altogether? I'm know this topic has been discussed before but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what's considered to be the best nowadays? Which one is best for health hair?
  12. Shatar is what some brave men and women have used to protect innocent children, women and men from being slaughtered by murderers, murderers who happened to be rulers over the years! Some of the users of these Shatar for 'sarbat da bala' (good will of all) became shaheed/ martyred.:waheguru:
  13. Good Post from different Angs and all Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Bani. How lucky we are that our Guru Ji forgives us for our Sins!:waheguru:
  14. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ka Fateh, Absolutely! However, we can teach our children that the more Sikh you become, the more strict you are on you Rehit Maryada, the more tolerant you become! They only have to look at their 10 Guru Ji's and Shaheeds to learn this. Sarbat da Bala!
  15. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Sant Ji's knowledge of Gurbani never ceases to amaze me! Sometimes it makes you wonder how much of his knowledge was yet to be shared with the Sangat, or not recorded on tape and film, or was burnt by the indian government. Hopefully there are further recordings and writings to be discovered to help us gain a deeper understanding of Gurbani. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  16. I thought the show was brilliant!! Not only did it address the issue of Satkar re halls etc. But more importantly it gave the Sikh Children a lesson on Satkar of Guru Ji in general. We are always complaining that the Gurdwara don't share Sikhi with the English Born Children enough. Even the ones who can speak Punjabi can't understand the Katha (which is always brilliant but in very advanced Punjabi). My Children were all fixed to the telly. They don't usually listen to the English Programmes on the Sikh Channels like the 'hub' etc but they were riveted to this programme because it was real Sikhs talking in plain everyday English. I was inspired too. Great Host, Great Panel, Great Audience! Go go go Satkar Campaign. More programmes like this please! These English Programmes will inspire children to learn about Sikhi, Gurbani, and then Punjabi will follow by itself then !!! Great Job done by all !!!!:D :waheguru:
  17. I agree, it's hard to believe an individual can be so wrong, and then call themselves a researcher! However, it still hurts to See Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Taksal being maligned like this! I'd change it, but sometimes if you haven't got the knowledge you can do more harm than good (I hope a taksali can save the day here!)
  18. I think we as Sikhs have to be very careful hear. It's OK to encourage your children not to be drawn into this superficial world of adverstising for those products that will only increase vanity. For example, a Sikh could decide to take Amrit, wear the 5k's, keep their hair and wear a Turban. That does not mean that that Sikh is not intergrating. The Sikh could still hold down a good job, do a good job, do charity and voluntary work for society in general. In other words, be a positive for the well being of this country, and all who live within it. The Sikh may decide to medidate on Vaheguru wishing for good will to all of humanity, instead of going to a night club and dancing, drinking and smoking. But that does not mean that they are not intergrating, or that they are condeming the people who do go to night clubs and dance and drink and smoke. Just because you don't do something yourself it deosn't mean that you are condeming it, or even judging anyone! It just means it that doing those particular things just do not excite you anymore, or give you pleasure anymore. I am just saying that some Sikhs may try too hard to prove that they are 'tolerant', and in the process, lose their history, culture, langauge, identity, and religion. As long as you are doing good for ALL around you and contributing to the well being of this country, you are intergrating!!!
  19. Just to let you know that this misrepresentation of the Damdami Taksal is still there on Wikipedia. So at the moment, anybody wanting to learn about the taksal will be fed a lie? Please can as many people as possible email Wikipedia to inform them of the misrepresentation !!!
  20. There are two ways to login. One is at the top of the page to the right. The other is a bit further down the page to the left. Use the second option - that one works!
  21. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, I think it's all about bringing the right female Granthis/Gianis forward as inspirational role models/speakers. There is one I have seen previewed on SikhTV, I think. Do you know the one? On this preview this female Giani is discussing how it was important for a mother to teach her daughter that a Sikh male having a beard is not a negative. This Granthi/Giani is a very inspirational speaker. Does anybody eles know who I am talking about. She is wearing a Chuni tucked back behind her ears? The female uprising within Sikhi is coming, they will defend the faith... too !
  22. Does anyone know if Niddar and his gang/club do pooja of murthia or not? Does he believe in Hindu Godesses or not?
  23. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Jassa Singh, I think you make a fair point. However, I don't think anyone is criticising any Jatha. It's more that Sikhs do just want to take the amrit that was given to Gursikhs in the Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time. Every Singh/Kaur loves Guru Gobind Singh Ji more than any Jatha or Sant? True? For example could you just give me your opinion, only your opinion, on the following questions: Do you think from 1699 to say 1799 all sikhs who took Amrit were read 5 Banis and the full Mool Mantra? The simple question is, when did the 3 bania and shortened Mool Mantra come in? Did some very very educated Sikhs change 5 bania to 3 bania? Or did Guru Gobind Singh Ji say it was 3 bania from 1699 to say 1708? You can't blame Sikhs for wanting to follow the same Maryada as that which was followed in Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time, or even from 1699 to 1799? I am only asking these questions to the Singhs in general. I have no anger towards any Singhs/Kaurs who take 3 Bania da Amrit. I am just asking the questions to learn. I mean, if some SIkhs that were even more educated than those who set the 3 Bania, set a new maryada to 2 Bania should we follow that if we thought the panth wanted that? Forgive me if I offend you in any way. I am only asking questions. Questions are good because it lets a person answer the questions and then get their point across. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  24. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Dear Gursikhs (including the admintrator Gursikhs). Does anybody else feel that we should, maybe, ask all the Sikhs who leave a post on this wibsite to make it very very very clear when they are posting something to warn us about any anti-sikh cults, agencies and organisations. For example, if I posted any of the questions listed below, couldn't that give a newcomer sikh, dropping on to this website for the frist time, and maybe exploring Sikhi, deeper, for the first time, a very confusing message. Especially, if we had a few of the anti-sikh agency members, who pose a sikhs on these forums posting a few confusing replies and opinions?? EXAMPLE Bad question to asks. Why would we need to ask these questions? And more importantly, discuss these questions in a way which made the newcomer think that we were not sure of the answer? Can you eat meat in a Gurdwara building? Can you drink alcohol in a Gurdwara Building? Can Mothers, sisters and daughters, dance in front of their Fathers, brothers and sons in a Gurdwara building? Can all of the above be done infront of little children, in a Gurdwara building, to get them confused? Can you keep a Saroop of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji over an off licence? Can you take a Saroop of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to a club or any building where smoking, drinking alcohol and eating meat normally takes place? Can you be a RSS member and still call yourself a Sikh (I am talking about either RSS i.e. RSS = Rashtriya Sikh Sangat or RSS = Rhadaswami Sat Sangat? Or can you worship any man who calls themselves a guru, after 1708, when we all know it is Dhan Dhan Sri Granth Sahib Ji who is the only eternal True Sat Guru? Can you learn Shatr Vidiya from that Nidal individual? even though all his club/gang members start to drink alcohol, take drugs, worship Statues (murthia), and disrespect women, and tatoo hindu emblems onto their arms etc etc (once with Nidal, you'll never come back into the fold of Sikhi)? What I am saying is, by asking the above questions, and then discussing them, sometimes with anti-sikh agency members who pose a sikhs on these forums, could a sikh just getting into sikh get totally confused, thinking that we are actually having a real debate because we don't know the answers to the above questions??? Should we post everything with the view that it will be read by a newcomer Sikh, or Sikh Child? Might it be better just to block/delete etc anything that could confuse in a suttle way. Otherwise, if somebody got confused by a post on this website, and then joined a cult, instead of Sikhi, who would we then hold responsible for that person being lead away from Sikhi? I mean, if somebody wants to go from Sikhi, it's up to them. But, if we accidentally confused a person, so that person fell out of Sikhi, wouldn't that be a terrible loss for that Person? I welcome your comments Gursikhs (and admin Gursikhs)
