  1. wjkk wjkf veer ji, dont worry, people say millions of things about our panthic leaders, doesnt mean that everything is true. wjkk wjkf This is true, when prof darshan singh came to my city years ago we had him over to our house with a bunch of ppl. most of the ppl were moderate sikhs (NOT amritdhari not really practicing) me and his crew were the only amridharis out of the group. Anyways one moderate posed the question if meat is prohibited why would they not just say it in the rehitnama why would they say only a certain type, surely that means meat is allowed. Me being younger and not much knowledge except a few articles I read thought oh this is gonna be good prof is gonna give this guy a great reply and finally someoen can debate these intellectual types who make decisions on sikhi without even practicing it. Well what his answer was shocked me. He said casually, and i'll never forget it, "Main kudho kya si bhey meat nahi kha sakday." And all the people around were really happy with this answer me and my family were shocked. But yeah i should of spoke up but at that time how was i gonna be able to provide a logical argument to this big professer ex jathedar blah blah. So shamefully I stayed quiet. Oh well u live and u learn. Anyways I hate spreading things that i can not confirm with my own ears and eyes so i can say all this with great confidence he does not see anything wrong with eating meat, and he may eat it himself. I never heard him say he does or seen him, but i'm assuming if ur and advocate of it u probably do eat. Anyways just thought i'd let u all know
  2. "now think of if someone leads on in the wrong direction in your life...leads u into maya and other stuff.....its gonna take you 7 arab saal to get back on the right road" NICE Quote singh :2singh2:
  3. Well I just watched a bit of this video, and I was truly disgusted. Not to much about what they were saying because everyone entittled to there opinions even though i do not agree with it. But the way they were doing it was really making me mad. These people think of themselves as scholars and they resort to this immature pathetic tactic of doing nindiya of mahapurkhs of taksaal. I mean i do agree with a few thing about nanaksar using there pics and all that but there is a way to do it. These guys are pathetic and it was really making me mad it was on my mind when i went to do sukhasin of maharaj and guess what hukamnama I got. http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2758 End of discussion the mahapurakhs will not be effected by this and the nindaks will be taken care of. The sad thing is these pathetic ghugga types will probably take this hukamnama as a coincedence and ignore it. But just keep believing in guru maharaj and making your jeevans stronger and don't pay attention to those who would want to lead u astray. P.S if you wanna see ghugga get his u know what handed to him in a debate click this link http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-61...h&plindex=7
  4. As for this person ^^^^^ that was BEAUTIFUL. Honestly God bless you singh. Just wanted to add, to the quote above ummm whats wrong with doing simran on xmas for a celeberation of the life a spiritual being. And to say don't celeberate because they don't celeberate ours. Well how does it hurt if u do simran on that day. and saying don't do it cause they don't is like saying we shouldn't say nanak naam chardi kala terai bhaunai sarbatt da bhalla, because the whole world doesn't pray for sikhs. Sikhi is a totally different way totally different path a path filled with un-paralelled sacrifice and UNCONDITIONAL love for humanity. Unconditional meaning no conditions attached if that person wants the worst for me i will still not harbour hatered in my heart for him. I may have to stand against him if someone is being opressed but a sikh never has hatered in his heart. So what i'm saying is your arguement of they don't celeberate it so we shouldn't does not sit well with me. And as for my friend babbar shere I'm so happy your not getting involved in a heated discussion with your last posts, shows a lot of pyaar. Good job my friend
  5. Why Do you have all the ideas of the world to propagate violence. Do u think burning a Hanuman effigy is part of self defence as taught by the guru ji. Will you be able to justify ur action with guru's teaching . Did u ever hear of a sakhi where Guru Ji attacked any mosque, no matter what moghuls did to the sikhs. n u talk of Sikhi ..... I think he was joking. I hope he was
  6. "I truely believe that its not the style of fighting that can tell the winner of a fight or battle but its the kamaiye behind them." I agree with this statement. Nice one 4givem4mysins. Kamaiye is def important probably the most important. But like guru ji trained his singhs in combat techniques we have do things from a wordly view point as well. Kamayee is paramount in every situation. However this does not mean that we need not train. If this was the case Guru ji would not have trained all his singhs he would have just said kamayee is enough. But from a worldly standpoint they trained as should we. Also about the infamous video. I've seen it a lot of times. And it is debatable who actually won. Because at the end right before Ustaad Uptej Singh rolls Ustaad Niddar Singh over. Niddar singh kind of paused it seemed, like ok I got him I won, this is a kill spot cause i believe he had his back. I'm not sure though I don't know who won nor do I care. What we have to focus on was were those two clashes of gatka vs shastar vidiya or not? And I have to say learning from different teachers myself including nihungs from india gatka does not teach you how to wrestle, flip ppl or any type of defensive tactics of hand to hand combat. I believe Uptej Singh has done other martial arts for years where as Niddar singh has trained only in shastar vidiya and thats what was being displayed there. Not pure gatka vs pure shastar vidiya. It was Uptej Singhs different marital arts vs shastar vidiya. I'm not taking anything away from Uptej Singh I think he is a really good martial artist and I give him respect. I wouldn't challenge him. I wouldn't challenge anyone though..lol.. And I think it is brilliant that he is teaching people gatka along with self defence techniques in his clasees. But thats what I think it is its Gatka mixed with other effective martial arts which does not make it the authentic martial art. Please correct me if i'm wrong I love to be corrected as I am a Sikh so I'm always willing to learn. If Uptej Singh just used Gatka skills in that demo and only teaches Gatka and never incorporates his other martial arts than please let me know I will retract my statment. As for you learning from your ustaads about hand to hand combat and knife defence thats awesome I'm still trying to find someone who can teach proper knife defence and what not. But its not easy to find in my city. But you have to ask yourself where did that person learn that knife fighting, from another gatka ustaad that has a lineage back to the gurus time, if thats true than you are learning shastar vidiya but if its from someone who learned from a different martial art or who learned from a teacher who learned from another martial art than your just learning GATKA plus another martial art. All I'm saying is lets check our egos at the door. Any person who has elementry knowledge of martial arts will consider it an insult to call what ppl teach now in gatka classes "the sikh martial art". Because its way to basic and not effective in my eyes. 4giveme you may learn from some other teacher who teaches proper vidiya but i'm basing this on what I have learned from gatka "ustaads". I just don't want someone who is like a ten year veteren of gatka being challenged by a MMA guy or any martial art guy who has been doing it for a year to a fight. And getting beat down and than ppl thinking wow that was the sikh martial art. Because think about it how many veteran gatka ustaads would u put up against real martial art masters? Seriously? I mean if your ustaad is different than I give you respect cause you found someone good. And if he learned all his skills from gatka ustaads than well I'm wrong and your right in your particular case. I'm just basing this on my experience. And i'm not saying all this claiming to be a martial art master I just learned some basic muy tai kick boxing and i'm gonna start doing mma soon with focus on wrestling muy tai and judo. So i'm not anything, but i do read alot about martial arts and am part of many forums and i have a lot of discussions on martial arts. So I am an enthusiast. I would defenatly dedicate my time to learning shastar vidiya if I could find a teacher who would A. come down here in teach and B. would just teach the art and nothing else. But what can I do I would even learn a martial art that would teach you how to break bones and defend yourself on the streets with weapons but once again to many MCDOJO'S (fake martial art schools) that just want your money. God bless
  7. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ RESPECT Also I think its more than half that don't live in punjab on these forums. Probably like 80 percent.
  8. Umm whats this post referring to raam? LOL
  9. Nice to see Gurbar Akaal on here. He can state way better than me the difference between shastar vidiya and gatka. 4giveme4mysins please read the topic i posted previously. I never said gatka was or is less effective because of the use of guns. I'm saying gatka is not shastar vidiya because of the experience I have had studing other martial arts. It can't be in my opinion the sikh martial art. I have never learned how to use my kirpan effectively in class. Just how to spin swords and do pattern type fighting and basic fencing which I enjoy. Heres some quotes from the other thread. "Please don't use the words shastar vidiya and Gatka interchangably. They are two totally different things. Shastar vidiya refers to the ancient and pretty much lost martial art of Gursikhs. And Gatka refers to a show put on to impress ppl. Trust me I'm Not a U.K NIHUNG. And I have nothing against Gatka as long as its not misrespresented as a true fighting system. Which everyone seems to do now adays. I do gatka cause its fun and good excercise. But I can't stand it when ppl try to make it out to be the "martial art" of the gursikhs. If anyone has taken even a cheesy mcdojo (comericialized martial art) class they can see it is more effective and detailed then gatka. If anyones ever dedicated their life to a true and deadly martial arts then they can see that "Gatka" is way far behind. True martial arts of the sikhs is shastar vidiya. And i haven't learnt it but i can tell u from doing other martial arts Gatka is not it. I feel sorry for people who practice it thinking it will help them in a dangerous situation. Because a novice ninjitsu practioner would probably take out a vetran gatka "ustaad". Like i said i'm not putting it down. I just firmly believe gatka is not the martial arts of the sikhs and should not be marketed as such. Play it preform it for the oohs and ahhs of the crowd. Just don't let it get to your head that your learning the true form of shastar vidiya. Which in my mind is probably the purest and most deadilest martials art known to man. And trust me after a lot of research Gatka is not that. Sorry if i offended anyone. I just don't want gatka practioners to get a big head and be in a life or death situation and be filled with confidence in an art that may let them down in real combat. Once again not a u.k nihung. Just a singh who is observant. " "The difference between both. Gatka teaches you how to swing a sword around really fancy so you look super deadly. and do patterns with kartars and shields. Also teaches u how to fence on a point system, which is my favourite part. Which is kool. However Gatka only has one penthra mool panthra. penthra means footwork. And footwork is not stressed to much in gatka. Any martial art always stresses footwork above every and anythign else. You need to have the roots strong before the tree can be strong. I've seen teachers teach penthra for a day and let kids grab sotis. Because there is nothing else to teach in gatka (footwork wise). However any marital artist will tell you, u have to train at least a few years before you can even touch a weapon. In gatka you can get a weapon the second or third day. And the weapons aren't realistic. You have swords which are flimsy and really dull. Where as in a real martial art you learn with a wooden version of the weapon first and gradually over time maybe years get to use the real version. Gatka you go straight to the flimsy sword and never move up. Also kill spots and how to actually use a sword are never taught. Pressure points breaking bones, different types of weapons and what each weapon can do and what its strengths and weaknesses are are not taught. " Below is Gurbar Akaals post "Moving back to the topic in hand, i will try to explain how jahir gatka differs from khalsa jang vidiya. The weapons used in Gatka are all the same length, and they are way too long. The length prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh for a salotar is sava hath, not 3ft. There is no variation amongst the weapons used in gatka, only a standard curved tulwar of the same length and weight balance. Whereas shastarvidiya teaches the use of the huge library of indo persian weapons, from tegha, tulwar, kaati, kathi, saif, khanda, kharag, dhal, sipar, bichuwa, pesh kabz, katar, jamdhari katar, bagh nakha, nar nakha, barsha, teer mukhiya, chakar etc (list goes on) Weapons such as the chakri were never used by the Khalsa, Gatkabaaj's adopted them from travelling bazigar from kerela. Vaars used in Gatka are "Ek angi", whereas shastarvidiya encorporates Sarb Ang Vaars shown in Gatka are always overstretched, over committed and over transmitted. Penthra used within Gatka is always used in the wrong space, way too far from the opponent to even be useful. The "penthra" shown in Gatka is obvious, it is easily read, its repeated, and there is no subtlety to it to deceive the opponent The penthra in Gatka is too heavy footed, and all gatka baajs i have seen are flat footed with moving, they do not use all parts of the soles There is no subtle baiting or technical countering in Gatka There is no implementation of 16 fighting concepts such as smehtna, smethna, dabauna, dabna, ang jakarna, ang kichna etc There is no variation of the footwork, or widths of footwork used in gatka. The spinning of the soti serves no purpose as the cutting edge faces away from its opponent. There are no banned moves on the battlefield, so why do gatkabaaj's bann certain strikes? surely it would be better to enforce discipline amongst students to respect the safety of others. The unarmed combat taught in gatka is copied from western arts poorly, Guru Gobind Singh did not do kickboxing or karate on the battlefield. There is no application of manipulating the gatti of the opponent, probably the biggest difference between gatka and shastarvidiya. Above is just a small list of differences. " Above post gives a good idea about the differences. As for nihungs singhs knowing the real martial art. Well when I went to India I asked a local nihung singh to take me to a place where I could learn shastar vidiya. And when I went it was just gatka not shastar vidiya. I asked one of the instructers what should one do in a real situation where I lose my kirpan yet the other person has a knife and he replied " Just grab him and hold him tight and theres nothing much else u can do." Umm yeah.. so anyways my two cents. And for the person who said lets stay on topic. Well the topic was gatka classes and my post is on authenticity of gatka. So I think I am kinda on topic. Lets keep discussing. Thanks god bless. Oh and I implore the sangat to please do learn a martial art any kind that is effective on the streets its our duty.
  10. I don't think people should charge for gatka classes because I believe its not the real art of our puratan brothers. I truly believe this having studied about other martial arts. I don't think gatka is street effective at all. So please whoever is charging for classes please stop unless of course you are teaching basic self defense which is not a part of any gatka classes I've ever taken. Don't get me wrong I like gatka i practice it myself just don't think it is the sikh martial art. For more info check this thread out. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showto...p;hl=quest4akal keep scrolling down for a great discussion on gatka. Thanks
  11. Seriously man what does your name mean? If it is the name of your gurdwara what is the meaning of it? A panth for ramgarhiyas?... Please let me know as I'm confused on how we can have a panth for a specific caste. Also don't say leave me alone i'm just advertising this website cause it is your screen name so you should answer. Also the website is cool i sent it to a friends whos wanted to learn these instruments for a long time now.
  12. HAHAHAH RAAAAAAAAAM Your house was way to funny. Dropping you off and seeing those lights on your house HAHAHHAHA...WITH THE TREE.. Maaan we laughed so hard. Raamneet celeberates xmas with a bang...haha
  13. Hands down the best reply of the thread. Simple Straight fwd and Truthful. I know gusikhs who do simran on chirstmas just to give respect to a holy man who came on this earth. Also your doing simran, can't think of anything better to do in this world than simran. I think thats the best way to celeberate for a gursikh. I def don't think all this putting up trees and lights and giving gifts is a celeberation of jesus. I think its a farce and the corporations are pulling all the strings. You wanna celeberate a holy person well than remember God. Its simple as that. And if you wanna give presents go ahead i'm not looking down on anyone who does i'm just saying don't think your celeberating the birth of a holy man by doing it. Presents never hurt anyone!! And I actually liked buddasinghs post. I may not agree with everything. Especially the enslavement and xmas connection but if he can prove than its all fine with me. But I liked it because it was really thought out and extremely intelligent. First one I've seen in a long time.
  14. BANDA i'm not an uncle..lol... thank god.. don't wanna be one yet.. i'm still young man..and i wasn't talking about u... you just asked a simple question... god bless
  15. I agree one hundred percent with Jaspaul singh. Of course and open dara is the way to go. Its a fad, but I don't see it going away anytime soon. It was started I believe by the british when they had raj over punjab. Thats where it stems from.
  16. Well its simple. When you tie your beard you hide a part of it. Thats what he meant by no one can see it. I like the comment of well guru ji woke up at one do we all do that. Don't know if thats true that Guru ji woke up at one. I heard Guru ji never slept. Anyways its a good point. What the heck are we arguing over. Why do ppl get so much krodh when they see tied dari. I used to as well. But i realized why judge others. Hows my sikhi going. Focus on that. I know plenty of open dari wale who don't live like they supposed to. And I know few tied dari who keep it gupt and have a lot of pyaar for maharaj. So whats worse a guy who keeps it open yet does anti-sikhi things. Or a guy who ties his beard yet has pyaar for maharaj. My point is you all need to stop judging people who tie. Yeah its not right yeah its trying to hide the identity but instead of saying assanine comments like its the same thing as trimming. WHAT LOGIC DO YOU GET THAT FROM. Taking a shaver to your kesh (which is a kureht) is the same as tying it up. Which involves not harming your hair at all. Either you guys are really young or just really immature. Anyways once again i keep dara parkash fully out with maharaj kirpa but maybe one day i will slip so whats the use in judging. Just keep it in his hands. I'm not advocating tying daris i'm just sick of all this judging each other. I used to do it as well. In fact i wanted to print out a t-shirt. SAJ Singhs Against Jelling. By the way my name is saj. LOL. But then I matured up. Ok I'm done my rant. BRING IT ON. I'm ready for all of YA..LOL.
  17. The khalsa is truly asleep... I remember hearing stories of people in need turning to the khalsa to protect their women. Now we can't even protect our own. Imagine what that bibi went through. You think any punishment is enough for these people. Yet we let them go fire them from their position. Wow what a time this khalsa panth has come to see. Probably the darkest in history. Because before when singhs were attacked our sisters were attacked in puratan times the khalsa fought and died. When others were oppressed khalsa fought. Now there is no sign of the khalsa. Just keyboard warriors. I myself am ashamed to call myself a sikh. I'm not worthy of it. But nowadays who is. Guru ji please forgive me, wake us up from this deep slumber which has engulfed US.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG7i08NLbZI Just a heart wrenching video. Respect to Gagandeep Singh from calgary. Keep it up Singh. After watching videos like these I think how can people not remember. How can people say it happened move on. Still singhs rot in jail from that time. Still widows suffer. Too many people around the world suffer untold tortures and too many atrocities go on as we speak. Anyone not living in places where this is happening, how can you take even one second for granted. How can we say we are bored. To much bani to read to much naam to jap. This world won't last long the way it is going. To much violence towards each other. We build up barriers any which way we can, on so many different levels. I'm this religion your not. I'm from this country your from another. I'm this color your another. I'm rich your poor. I'm educated your not. It is truly the worst of times now with kaljug flexing its full muscle. I mean all I see around me now is seperation. Even in our community. Forget about everyone being from the same background. We could be living in the same country with the same monetary class, same religion, same color of skin, same level of education. And I still hear I'M THIS CASTE YOUR NOT. When will it stop sangat ji. On these forums there is a lot of good but a lot of bad as well. Why do we as a people have to put each other down to feel like we have gotten our point across. Why do we have to prove another wrong to feel like our point has more validity. It doesn't make sense sangat ji. Sadly even in the mind of "religious" people seperation is what I seem to come across rather than unification. Its like our human culture has been inflitrated by powers unknown to us who have created this atmosphere of hate to make sure all of humanity cannot co-exist because if we could we would not need these corrupt leaders. If we could just see the beauty in all, things like poverty, tyranny, war etc could not exist. Please forgive me if I said anything that offended anyone. This video just brought out a lot of emotions.
  19. Taken from my blog www.sehajvirsingh.blogspot.com With his hands shackled but no fear in his eyes Awaiting death his khalsa spirit begins to rise They tell him to convert, but to their dismay Bhai Taru Singhs faith is firm and does not sway “Fine don’t give up your faith, just give us your hair and we will spare you life” Bhai Taru Singh replies “you think I will bend under the threat of your knife” “Oh cruel people why are you so blind, why can’t you see” “My brothers have been shedding their blood for this faith long before me” “We are Guru Gobind Singh ji’s Sikhs, we are a different breed” “Do what you must so I can join my brothers as a Shaheed” “I will never give up my hair because it was gifted to me by the king of all kings” “I will endure any kind of tourture to stay true to my father Guru Gobind Singh” “So do your worst, entice me, threaten me, burn me, cut me or scalp me alive” “It makes no difference because I have taken the Amrit from the beloved five”
  20. Dalsingh Thanks for taking a look. I'm glad you got something out of it. You have any questions or comments let me know.
  21. WOW. Please sangat ji check out this video. I've seen a lot of different documenteries on the topics of 9/11, Secret societies. But this one blows anything i've seen away. Its all based on fact no theories or speculations. Really mind expanding video. There are three parts. Part one talks about jesus and rather he did exist or not. However in no way am I saying I agree with the first part's conclusions and I'm not questioning his existence. I would never do that. However the points are very interesting. But i'm more promoting the second and third part of ths documentery. It talks about the what the rockafellers role was in controlling the government and the people. Talks about the hazards of media, the links between bush and nazi funding. Its truly and amazing video I suggest everyone to watch and make conclusions for yourself and discuss it here. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
  22. I agree with jai tegang. Man bro you hit the nail rite on the hammer. Different people may have different expreinces. I have always thought of Guru ji as six 1 or 2. But to each his own. But even harbhajan singh yogi is entitled to his opinion right. What I disagree with is people disrespecting someone just cause they have different views. I mean its different if the person is or did bring ppl away from sikhi. But one should think twice about their own jeevani and what they have done before they belittle someone who has inspired an entire different race to embrace amrit and sikhi. I'm not a follower of yogi ji. But I have respect for anyone who has done that much for the panth. Also I have heard a lot of his speeches and although i may not agree with everything a lot is pretty profound. Maybe we should think twice before we say "take that yogi" in a very disrespectful way. I mean lets look at how many ppl we have inspired on this path. I haven't even inspired one so how can i say anything against someone who guru ji decided to use to spread a message of love peace and unity. Sure all may not be in line with my bliefs or beliefs of others. But as long as a farmers crop is growing strong than maybe we should look at our own barren field before we criticise the method of the other farmer. Just my thoughts. Bhul Chuk Maaf karna.
