  1. It would be good if there could be some kind of dharmik alliance against evangelicals. But sadly Sikhs must do this on their own. The reason is as you have stated the Sikhs start which good intentions but Hindus at the same time start to subvert Sikhi behind our backs. This is what happened when Arya Samaj first came to Punjab. Sikhs who were being targeted by Christian missionaries saw Arya Samaj Hindus as a good partner for alliance against Christian preachers. At first Sikhs were accommodating Daya Nand Saraswati and his Arya Samaj movement. But when they were strong enough they began to attack Sikhism and doing Nindya of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Once a Nihang Singh was about to kill Dayanand Saraswai when he heard him doing Nindya of Guru Nanak Dev ji but sadly other Sikhs present there stopped him from killing that Dusht. An alliance is only good when Sikhs are calling the shots and fully in control.
  2. I remember about 2 years ago a few Sikhs (all were goody two shoes) were doing sewa of poor people in Rajasthan by gathering food for them. Instead of thanking the Sikhs for their selfless service, a mob gathered of those skinny Bhayas who began to beat the Sikhs. The Sikhs were all lying down taking the beating. The video was embarrassing to watch. Sometimes I feel India is not deserving of a good people like the Sikhs especially when we get this strange itch to do selfless service of them. They don't deserve this sewa.
  3. Sadly this had been misrepresentated a lot in our Panth for the last few years mainly by missionaries to the point where many Sikhs have also started believing this. Firstly, it is not buckets milk but buckets of Kachi Lassi. Kachi Lassi in this case is a small portion of milk(about 20%) mixed with 80% water. The reason this is used since ancient times in India is because it does not damage marble flooring. In fact it gives a soft feel to the marble after applying it. The alternative to this is modern chemical based products which can damage the marble long term by corrosion and wearing it out. Besides this these modern chemical based products can also cause cancer and damage the environment. So Kachi Lassi is definitely best suited for this sewa.
  4. Just saw the video of the attacked Sikh in hospital. It was hard to watch. It was truly a barbaric attack by people who were no less than barbarians.
  5. That is a very old Abrahamic game. When they are a small minority they always act meek and with nimrata by turning the other cheek. But once they start gaining numbers their Nimrata is the first to go away. In Korea Christians are very aggressive against the Buddhists. They don't even hide their hatred anymore. In Punjab we are now starting to see the beginnings of their ugly side too where they start to riot as they did in Batala a few years ago. Recently o ne of their preachers very disrespectfully spoke against the Gurus. When a Nihang Singh replied using the same language against Jesus they got him arrested by the Punjab police. They don't target Hindus because they know there will be retaliation by Shiv Sena and other Hindu outfits. But they target Sikhs for conversions because they know Sikhs will not retaliate since all our focus is to oppose Hindus and ignore all the other hostile enemies of our Panth.
  6. The Christian Evangelicals are far worse for the Sikhs currently than even Muslims or Hindus. While they face opposition all over India from Hindus and Muslims, but in Punjab they are not facing any backlash all because of the Sikhs who have not awoken to the threat that is Christianity. Just look at the example of Korea. During WW2 the Christians were a small percentage of the Korean population but now they dominate Korea. Buddhists have been relegated to an inferior position. Today Christians shamelessly show their full hostility towards the Buddhists. I remember a few years ago a few Korean Christian girls came to Sri Darbar Sahib and dared to proselytize Sikhs. Sadly no Sikh said anything to them. But one Sikh Bibi (a real Sherni) confronted them. We are seen as a soft target by these Christian missionary vultures.
  7. All of our history of Guru Sahib's time period is based on these ancient granths like the Janam Sakhis, Mahima Prakash, Sri Gur Sobha, Suraj Prakash etc. If we discard these granths then we have nothing left on our Guru jees. It is only less than 2 to 3 percent of the Sakhis that are not according to Gurmat it doesn't mean we should discard the entire granth with all the authentic Sakhis. It's almost like throwing the baby along with the bath water. Kavi ji was a great scholar. Kavi Santokh Singh gathered Sakhis related to Guru Sahibaan where ever he could find them from all over Punjab. He wrote his monumental Granth in beautiful poetry which is why Katha is done of it for the benefit of Sangat.
  8. This sexual deviance is a Paap bigger than other paaps. It is on par with incest.
  9. I used to translate that verse just like you. But on further analysis I came to the conclusion that in Bani you will find some instances where ਮਨੈ means ਮੰਨ ਵਿੱਚ similarly ਜਗੈ means ਜੱਗ ਵਿਚ। Furthermore ਜਗੈ has never been used to mean ਜਾਗਣਾ। Even in Hindi which uses shorter vowels than Punjabi .also uses the long vowel Jaag(जाग) to mean awaken. ਧਰਮ means different things in different places. ਧਰਮ can be used as plural to mean many Dharms i.e. many religious ways and it can also be used as singular to mean the one supreme ਧਰਮ। For example: ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਧਰਮੁ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਰਮੁ ॥ In the first Pangti ਸਰਬ ਧਰਮ means of all the Dharms the second time Dharm in the same verse is used it is singular to mean the ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ Dharm is the Dharm where naam is recited i.e. Gurmat. So Gurbani is saying that the Dharms which do not Jap Naam are not ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ। ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਗਾਜੈ।। ਜਗੈ ਧਰਮ ਹਿੰਦੁਕ ਤੁਰਕਨ ਦੁੰਦ ਭਾਜੈ।। According to me this would mean: I don't know why you would use ਮਿਟਹਿ to mean forgotten. ਮਿਟਹਿ means eradicate or ਮਿਟ ਜਾਏ, ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ. Even in Bani it is used to mean eradicate ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ. Within Ugardanti too it has been used to mean ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਣਾ, ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਤੁਰਕ ਹਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਸਕਲ ਝਗਰਾ ਮਿਟਾਊਂ (ਤੁਰਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਝਗੜਾ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਵਾਂ) My interpretation of these verses makes perfect sense when one reads the following Bani: The religions of the Vedas and Quran are corrupt which is why the teesr Panth had to be pragat. And ਦੇਵਲ literally means place where Devas are worshipped. Why give an alternative meaning? Does ਮਸੀਤ now also have an alternative meaning?
  10. No. He simply wrote an analysis about it at the start much like how piara Singh padam would do to give the reader some background info before the ਮੂਲ ਪਾਠ of the historical manuscript.
  11. pdl is Punjab digital library. It is website that has thousands of Punjabi books that are now out of print. Many even over a 100 years old written by authors long forgotten. It is an excellent website. Besides this it so has many hand written sroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, Sri Dasam Granth.
  12. The first time Soch was translated as Suchamta was by Kavi Santokh Singh Ji in Garb Ganjini. But before him all translated Soch to mean ਸੋਚਣਾ, ਵੀਚਾਰਣਾ। The oldest translation of Japji Sahib known as Sri Japji Parmarth which is said to date back to the times of the early Guru Sahibaan also translates Soch to mean ਸੋਚਣਾ ਵੀਚਾਰਣਾ। You can read and download a copy of this old steek on pdl in the following link http://www.panjabdigilib.org/webuser/searches/displayPage.jsp?ID=5649&page=1&CategoryID=1&Searched=
  13. I wouldn't say it's greed. It is all due to over population. Most farmers, especially in Doaba and Majha are small land owners who own only about 5 acres or less. Land holdings get smaller with every passing generation. You cannot make much of a living with 5 acres of land. During the 50s and 60s small land owners would sell their land and buy a hundred acres of land in UP especially in the trai region because land was so cheap there. Many of my own relatives moved there during that time as did many Sikhs from all over Punjab. But with so many Sikhs moving to UP the government started putting restrictions to prevent further migration.
  14. The translator is Harjinder Singh Kanwal. I have his book at home and was reading it a few years ago and noticed many mistranslations done. Here I have listed a few with my own translation in the brackets. ਸਕਲ ਜਗਤ ਮੋ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਪੰਥ ਗਾਜੇ।। ਜਗੈ ਧਰਮ ਹਿੰਦੁਕ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁੰਦ ਭਾਜੇ।। (Through out the world the Khalsa Panth will be prominent. Within this world the Dharm of the Hindus and Turks will take flight.) The translater has translated ਜਗੈ to mean ਜਾਗਣਾ when it should mean ਜੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ। To support the flow and meaning of this pangti other verses should also be looked at which supports this meaning. ਦਹੂੰ ਪੰਥ ਮੈਂ ਕਪਟ ਵਿੱਦਯਾ ਚਲਾਨੀ।। ਬਹੁੜ ਤੀਸਰ ਪੰਥ ਕੀਜੈ ਪਰਧਾਨੀ।। (The vidhya of both the Panths(of Hindus and Muslims) is corrupted. Elevate the teesr Panth(over the other two Panths).) ਮੜੀ ਗੋਰ ਦੇਵਲ ਮਸੀਤਾਂ ਗਿਰਾਯੰ।। ਤੁਹੀ ਏਕ ਅਕਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਾਯੰ।। (Demolish the graves, mandhirs and mosques. Make me meditate on the One Akal, Har Har.) The translator maybe doesn't want to include Hindus so instead of translating ਦੇਵਲ as Mandirs he translates it as monastery in order to disassociate that word from Hindu place of worship. ਮਿਟਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਸਲਾਵਤ ਅਠਾਰਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ।। ਮਿਟੈ ਬਾਂਗ ਸਲਾਵਤ ਸੁਨੰਤ ਕੁਰਾਨਾ।। (Eradicate the Vedas and eighteen Puranas. Eradicate the Azaan(ਬਾਂਗ), Namaaz, circumcision(ਸੁਨੰਤ) and Quran.)
  15. The English translation in that link isn't reliable. ਕਈ ਗਲਤ ਅਰਥ ਕੀਤੇ ਨੇ।
  16. The tukh he had quoted if I remember correctly was ਦੁਹੂੰ ਪੰਥ ਮੈਂ ਕਪਟ ਵਿੱਦਯਾ ਚਲਾਨੀ || ਬਹੁੜ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਪੰਥ ਕੀਜੈ ਪਰਧਾਨੀ ||
  17. One shouldn't have hate for any one because of their religion. On the individual level it's not wise to say someone is bad because he is a Muslim. I've personally known many Muslims who have been very nice people. Having said that, one should also not be an SJW. That's the mindset we need to avoid having. SJW types are increasing among Sikhs. They don't want to listen to the truth.
  18. I wasn't talking about myself but about the high status others i.e. Shaheed Singhs. And it's not Nanak, it's Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
  19. The way I see Muslim situation in Europe and in India is that Muslims are a scourge on the Europeans and Hindus of India for their past sins. Europeans did a lot of evil all over the world during the colonial past. What they did in Africa, America and Asia is the lowest point in human history. They looted, killed millions and reaped the benefits and now law of Karma is using the Muslims to punish them. There lands will be over run by Muslims. Same with the Hindus. The way they treated the Sikhs since the fall of the Sikh empire and especially since 1947 they can write a whole book on how to do Dhokha and back stabbing. When they attacked Sri Darbar Sahib and killed off a whole generation of young Sikh men they destroyed what little good Karma they had left. They recieved Raaj after 800 years of Ghulami and would have ruled for hundreds of years to come. But I would give it just 1 to 2 more decades left. A major clash between Hindus and Muslims of the subcontinent is inevitable in which Hindus will face punishment. Before the Muslim takeover, the Sikhs across Europe would be better off if they all moved to the UK and bolstered the Sikh community already there or moved to any English speaking country.
  20. Another meaning that I have heard is that others (non Sikhs) will be khwaar. And only those will survive who come to the Sharan of the Khalsa.
  21. Yes I read it in one of his books few years ago. Can't remember which one. But I am sure it was a quote from Ugardanti because I looked it up at the time. Sikhs of today have become very missionary influenced even though elders of the past believed in this.
  22. No one is worshipping Devi. Believing in the exitance of something does not mean "worship". One should try not to pollute their thoughts on Dharm by current politics.
  23. I believe in this Bani, it is a powerful Bani. Puratan Singhs were believers of this bani. It was a part of the Dasam Granth until it was taken out by the Sodhak committee. I don't know what was their rationale for this decision since it is in line with the rest of Dasam Bani. Maybe it has something to do with the last chhand of this Bani where it foretells that in future Khalsa will destroy Mandirs and Masjids and religious symbols of both Hindus and Muslims. My guess is in future there will be a Maha Yudh between Khalsa on one side and Hindus and Muslims on the other. Maybe this Yudh will happen with both of them together or maybe one by one and the result will be Khalsa will become victorious. There is an english translation of this Bani online but the translator has not done a very accurate translation I must say. Nihangs and Kukas continue reading it till today. Interesting even Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh ji believed in this Bani and quoted it in his writings but some modern AKJers in the west having being influenced by missionaries have ironically become deniers of Dasam Bani.
  24. Another important dasam Bani that has been largely discarded by Sikhs. Even Sikhs who read Dasam Granth have discarded this Bani unfortunately. Only Nihangs and Kukas read it now.
