  1. Maybe it's not racist, but countryist. It's trying to promote patriotism and not whitism. I mean what better way to portray China than using a Chinese to represent it? etc.
  2. No, I think that it's both free will and destiny. Our past karm determines some things like situation and circumstance like if we're born rich, poor, disabled, orphans etc (the things we have no control over) but we get to decide how we will act in these situations/circumstances. Who we will marry, the children, education, income I think is also destiny. But we can choose other actions. I heard that 65% of our life is predetermined and 35% is our choice. So basically you land in a predetermined situation and the way you act, respond to it determines if you win or lose. Like a test, the teacher chooses the questions, you choose the answers.
  3. Chatanga. Very knowledgeable especially about the past history...but only if he wasn't a Nihung...I can't stop wondering if he killed the bakra on his profile picture.
  4. Nagar Kirtan probably on April 15th at Stockton, CA and another same day at Selma, CA.
  5. Yeah he's part of the new Christian Missonary scheme: To convert Sikh people and let them keep their hair and sikhi saroop and use them to trick other Sikhs into converting. It's becoming more and more widespread their's another guy on youtube who's a kesadhari Christian and he's more educated and makes more sense than this guy. I think this guy hasn't learned his Christian philosphy right and that's why he so confusing.
  6. All of Randip's tomato tomatoe comments: "the reason we sit on charis is b/c its indian tradition, didn't have them back then blah blah" Isn't a throne a type of chair? Also If u wanna be so modern, let's stop using chaur sahib, maybe Guru Sahib didn't know about fans. let's stop having a takhat, guru ji didn't know about altars let's stop putting up chanani's cause umbrellas are better. let's not matha tek, too old fashioned and makes us look like the fanatical Muslims, instead lets just bow our heads paper and ink is soooo old, let's matha tek to a kindle with downloaded SGGS, then when we take the hukamnama we don't have to wash our hands And have u noticed chairs, pews aren't modern, they were used in europe for many centuaries, and pews aren't modern they were used in churches for a long time So ur just like the pendu's who think anything the gorey's do or use is Modern. All you'll be doing is bringing a western/Christian to the gurudwaras. As for Sikhs in Delhi having chairs, u wrote that Indian Sikhs are more advanced.Well Indian Sikhs r also the ones who go to deray, believe in black magic, follow fake babeys, and mix up their religion with hinduism. And whoever said that Western ppl start the debates, what about the Dasam Granth debate? And Goray are discovering yoga to be more healthy physically and mentally. And chonkri is actually a asan in yoga AK-47: I think the only way to stop the treacle of ppl using chairs from becoming a flood is to become really Modern. And let scientists/engiineers/architects take over: The comment about the disabled sitting in holes got me thinking. What if near all the walls, the floor was lower? So even ifsomebody was sitting in a wheel chair, they wouldn't be any higher than the rest of the sangat. Also the no chair policy should be strenghthened and only wheelchairs should be allowed. The gurudwara should provide wheelchairs that will fit into the depressions made near the walls. Maybe the lower floor can also have tracks for the wheelchair tires. That way even the disabled won't feel embarrased if they are not higher than the rest of the sangat. Also no healthy person will be able to take advantage of this system. And most won't want to: healthy hoke wheelchair te baina, o-v gurudware no bhai" But of course to do this will involve science, math, and lots of money. Not only will the gurudware have to buy some wheelchairs, but also have to get the floor, maybe even foundations redone. But everyone, especially the younger generation shud keep this solution in mind. And if a new gurudwara is being built, try it out. So Randip, this is a TRUE example of PROGRESSIVE, MODERN and PRACTICAL idea. Fateh.
  7. A (hopefully non-corrupitable) solution: We could have area misls or misl like groups in each area. For example in California its always like the Fremont Sangat or the Fresno sangat. or it could be gurudwara based like the coventry gurudwara ppl. it doesn't have to be official, but usually ppl from same area/ same gurudwara hang out 2gther and know one another. So it could be an unofficial misl thing. And the ppl who are most involved could be the unofficial leaders. Like the fremont gatka teacher. And other area groups could be like pass on info to fremont sangat via the gatka teacher.
  8. I don't think Havans are allowed in Sikhi, they are part of the Hindu religion and some people have adopted Havans along with Sikhi. The Hindus believe that the fire god is a witness to their weddings, and that he is a messanger to gods that is why they use fires. And the ithiaas books such as Prateen Panth Prakash, Suraj Prakash, are not really exactly accurate. They were written a long time after the historical events recorded in them and they recorded all the Sakhis/stories prevalent at that time without doing research, or finding the source. This can be a good thing because that means that means they recorded everything that they heard at that time and we can decide what is true or not. And this way there are no sakhis that would have been left out if they decided to be select some and dicard others.
  9. A virtual-panj-pyare device. It would be like having the advice and counsel of the panj pyare at any time. Because one of the reasons for having panj pyare is to decide on issues, and to compromise and break ties(therefore the odd number five, one can always break the tie). Because we have lost the ability to compromise, and think there is only one way,and for any issue we have extremists, moderates, and liberals. Take the issue of Dasam Granth. Some believe it is Dasam Guru Granth because it is Guru's bani and should be given same status as Guru Granth Sahib ji, some believe that only some banis were written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and other banis weren't, others believe that no banis were written by Guru Ji. So like the Sarbat Khalsa did in 1930's when they compiled the Rehit Maryada, they only wrote the minimum requirements, what most people agreed on, and left it to individual choice to go beyond the minimum requirements. So type in the problem the extremist view, liberalist view and the virtual-Panj Pyare will decide on a moderate, minimum requirement compromise. This will lead to constructive debate and will hopefully elimiinate the harsh words and fights. On the Dasam Granth issue the virtual device will take in the extremist, moderate, and liberal view and will decide on let's say that noone is allowed to doubt on the Nitnem banis:Jaap Sahib, Tav Prasaad Savaiye, Chapaui Sahib, or Ardaas, but the rest is to individual choice. Of course many will not like this moderate view because it still promotes nindaks but at least it will stop bad parchaar that effects Amrit and Ardaas. Also it will help us decide trivial matters such as what to do with issues like Jay Leno's remark about the Golden Temple. Many people wanted him to apolozise and wanted to protest, while others said it was a joke stop being so fanatic and paranoid, and we shouldn't say/do anything because the Indian Govt got involved and are trying to use it to ruin our image and win votes. Maybe it could be a app where everybody shares therir viewpoint on recent issues and the app could come up with a compromise? We need to learn compromise. All great nations use compromise as the most democratic and effective way as it allows people to work together to solve problems.
  10. Now the mistake about the father of Guru Angad Dev Ji is fixed, however there are still other mistakes to be fixed: What did Guru Ramdas Ji offer everyday to Guru Amardas Ji and the answer is water. But the question is wrong, it should be what did Guru Amardas Ji offer Guru Angad Dev Ji And there is another mistake too. ANOTHER COOL SIKHI GAME IS Ganno and the Ogres's Curse AT SIKHNET.COM. IT'S AN ADVENTURE GAME AND REALLY FUN! I REALLY LIKED THE MEDITATION GAMES, THE GATKA GAME WAS OKAY,
  11. You can edit the page. At the bottom there's a place to rate it and it asks if you are knowledgeable on this topic. Click it and Wikipedia will send you an email and you can be allowed to edit. it. I would do it, except all the evidence does seem to point at Babbar Khalsa for Air India Flight. And the article seems true to me, it just doesn't state the reasons for why we had to kill some ppl (like Beant Singh) the only offensive things are that it says we train at the same place as Al Qaida and that khalistan movements attacked civilians. ......... Rate this page What's this? 12. Based on my limited knowledge: We are making a sort of offering of the food and seeking the blessing of Waheguru. Food can only be distributed to the sangat(congregation) in the langar after this. Better answer can probably be found on www.sikhanswers.com.
