Raags were created for a reason and the keertan was written to suit certain raags. it is essential you keep with the maryada of Guru Maharaj and do keertan according to puratan traditions. i agree that god is not please with just raag alone however without it we are not doing keertan according to gurmat and puratan maryada. If people do not believe in raags the time will come when sikhs will say what is the need for music to be used with the singing of gurbani. they will satate that one focuses on the tune rather then the meaning. This is the reason why muslims do not have music or raags. we will turn our thinking to that of the muslims. In islam the sufis who are considered the mystics still have music as belive raag is needed and should be incorperated with the scriptures to praise the lord. we as sikhs should not give up the ways of the Gurus and should be proud of the gurmat sangeet heritage of the sikhs

i only had one tape of katha on the sarbloh granth by baba santa singh ji nihang. this can be found on www.ektaone.com there have been alot of discussions on this subject on wwww.sikhawareness.com most of the deep issues are discussed their rather then here and alot of the well versed sikhs can be found on the discussion page

i heard that as well so i posed the question to a couple of sants. they all said the same thing that all bani in dasam granth is bir rass bani and their is no difference in reading the jaap sahib and akal ustat that you get from chandi di vaar or shaster naam mala. it is all bani of maharaj.

Good updates this week. lots of keertan added including brilliant raag keertan by Bhai Avtar Singh Ji and Bhai Nirmal Singh Ji. Added yesterday lots of Katha by Baba Hardev Singh Ji Lulowalae. unfortunately alot of it has been put under harkhowale sant's name. Also some really good divans by Baba Waryam Singh Ji Ratwara Sahib Walae. Also Soon to come is more katha by HArkhowalae Sant's in the early 1990's and Katha by Sant Singh Maskin while in Kuwait in the 1970s. Also Katha coming to www.gurmatveechar.com by giani thakur singh ji, bhai pinderpal singh ji, bhai balbir singh ji and Sant avtar singh ji Badni Kala Walae. keep checking the sites.

that katha on the hub was put up by myself. Pamdit mangal Singh Ji is a great student of all scriptures and has studied all scriptures possible. his katha is amazing. he came to the uk years ago but has not been back since. He was given the name of pandit by great hindu scholers who questioned his knowledge. he anwered all their questions correctly and beat all the hindu pandits in banares at the same time with his level of knowledge and due to this recieved the title.

best i can suggest is listening to digital radio on sky channel 900 as on sundays at 1000hours gmt they play divans by sant sujan singh ji

they did have a page somewhere on sikhawareness.com where it had a direct to the katha. you are going to have to search that site. it is very good katha and would recommend all to listen to it

its not part of the dasam granth it is a staory told about how dusht duman came into the world. for the full story listen to the sarbloh bani katha by Baba Santa Singh Ji

The last divan is very rare. Baba ji wore a black chola on that day. my dad was there along with the rest of my family. i am not sure if it is on the net. if not i will try to get hold of it and will try to put it on the hub
