  1. The idea is to make the Mind SIT INSIDE the body and then to get 'antar ghat' Our mind is too easily outside the body and always putting the dhyian outside. By using body points, you can train your Mind to stay put inside at that point but be LISTENING to the shabad at same time. The biggest obstacles for the Mind are Thoughts, and by making the mind SIT in one place is the biggest help in the direction to get rid of these thoughts.
  2. So, you are saying that ALL cases are in your classification above ? :angry2: Maybe a very good percentage are, but not the real genuine cases that are in lower numbers. Therefore, I feel it's unfair to class these genuine cases in the same boat. Yes, I know the majority of depressive pill poppers are just more depressed because they keep depressing themselves into thinking they are depressed ! :lol2: There is a difference between anxiety and depression, although the same kind of drugs are used for both. I would say anxiety is more of a ''personality'' trait or disorder rather than a medical one. However, depression has many disguises and levels. You would probably say that people who are schizophrenic are not medically imbalance, but they hear voices of split personalities because they are possessed by devil ??? :biggrin2: Are you serious ?? A person with ''no sympathy'' should NEVER be in ANY health care service !!! :nono: :nono:
  3. Really ?? Try telling that to someone who wakes up every morning and just thinks about suicide and questions ''will today be the day?'' This person tries to sleep every night hoping never to wake up ! Yeh,, we should just say man up you fool ?
  4. Very good responses above ! :biggrin2: I think that the advice to not put dhyan there is more precautionary so that one doesn't encounter problems in later stages. It is best to start early with fewer chances of getting too attached to these kind of stimuli. This is also the reason why it is not advised to keep a mental imprint of a guru's portrait in front of you at all times. However, some of us need to do this just to get into the swing and get going in the early stages. I shouldn't be advising but I was guilty myself of putting my dhyan on agya chakkar before i had got to any deep mental simran. This did bring some difficulty because I got stuck with visual aspects and found it harder to move further as the dhyan on the sound and listening should have been much greater. Eventually I found the appropriate balance to help me go deeper, but it took quite a while and wasn't easy. I totally agree with Sat's advice to focus dhyan on the front of your mouth so that all you are doing is listening to the gurmantar, or you could even put the dhyian near ears if you find it easier. But one thing that i'm pretty certain about now is that you can't progress and go deeper without the dhyian on the 'listening' of jap. I don't think that one can attain that deeper stillness and hear the beginnings of anhad without this 'listening' You see, when focusing between the brows, you can easily go into the territory of 'looking' but if your dhyian ends up more here than the 'listening', then that's the difficulty they all advise against. As long as the listening is happening on par or more than the looking, then some of us can manage ok, but if it's just looking then result= not so good, Listen and Feel the gurmantar with every breath when you jap. More importantly, I know that in the early beginning stages some of us need that little 'kick' or something to help us get into the swing of simran. Just that simple patience to sit, the patience and enthusiasm to focus and hear your own jap...etc...etc... I think that in these stages some of us may find that focusing between brows may help settle us to get going, or even that mental imprint of Guruji's portrait in front of you,, or the use and feel of a mala...etc... Therefore, I personally don't think it's a bad idea if it helps get your engine started as long as you are aware and determined to move the focus to gurmantar and listening. Sometimes, I may still use that mental imprint of Guru Nanak ji's portait to help me settle in, especially if my mind and thoughts are all over the place and putting up barriers to quietening down and listening !
  5. It depends exactly what kind of problem and what stage it has progressed to. But most can be dealt with by addressing the underlying root cause in the majority of cases. Medication actually masks the root cause and just deals with symptoms, so most patients end up tangled in a corkscrew effect.
  6. Correctly stated ! I would just like to add that one may read and learn as much as possible by self analysis and contemplation and have some good level of knowledge. However, I believe that when one starts doing all practically and with contemplation of every breath, then for the majority there will come the necessity for association with the right Sangat and a guide that is usually someone who has progressed on the same path and has the gian from all varying angles.
  7. Another inspiring post Harsharan jee ! :biggrin2: My benti to all the young and upcoming sikhs is to please do naam simran and jap whatever you can even if it's just a few minutes a day. Just like the fields can't flourish without water, we also can't flourish as spiritual risers and raise our consciousness without japping his name. WaheGuru WaheGuru WaheGuru Waheguru WaheGuru WaheGuru
  8. Many factors come into play in this question. Firstly, your boss stating that there is not much honesty in trading, gives an idea of what his intentions are and where his limitations would be. Maybe he has the idea that if you want to reach the sky, then rules may need breaking and honesty may not be kept fully. Therefore, One factor is that you have to ask yourself what your honest intentions are to succeed and up to which point you don't cross the line. Trading is a bit of a gamble because you are in effect playing with money to make more money, and it can go both ways. But you have to ask yourself, how do you see it differently to gaming in a casino ? Another few factors to look at at any job/industry is to try and picture yourself in the whole global circle that gets affected. Let's say you are A, and you get your money from B via C. Then you have to look at it from a birds eye view to see how B gets from C,D,E,...etc...and how C may influence or affect anyone else like C,D,E,F..etc... Then if you can't see anyone losing out or being betrayed/double crossed or taken advantage of in a sequence of events, then you may understand and see if your contribution is entirely honest AND giving an honest outcome to ALL Sadly, I see a lot of ''Blind' dishonesty happening when people don't even realize through pure ignorance. It's important that you try your best not to affect anyone's emotions in a negative way., and being in a competitive trade can be a huge challenge for this. Especially when you end up undercutting and winning the other persons trade all under the simple banner of 'competition'. But if the other 3rd party ends up totally screwed and has to re-evaluate their whole life and family because of this loss, then you have to ask yourself '' Was it in all fairness, did I do it without any negative repercussions in mind for 3rd party, were my intentions all purely positive for everyone as a whole or just myself ??...........''
  9. Through the ages we have changed definition of wine to mean ''fermented grapes'' However, the wine mentioned in bible is not about some alcoholic beverage at all. Most metaphors are mystical meanings that refer to amrit rus.
  10. all going off topic here and comparing musicians. The thread is about Ladi shah and Mr Mann openly and devotionally worshiping such grave along with many other confused apney. How the hell does someone justify that ?? If it's not about money, then what is it about ?
  11. On the subject Apna punjab hove, we have a song talking about the relaxed life of the jatt at home sitting on his manja. Then eating his onion, ghee, saag and makhi di roti prepared by his homely mother. Many punjabis like this relationship tied in with rural village life in punjab, but the home mad sharaab is just completely unnecessary. I mean does the jatt have his kind mother cooking and cleaning for him and feeding him endless rotis with ghee and sagh whilst he sits there on his manja like a nawaab or royal figure drinking and pouring his desi liquor ?? I'm sure that every mother would love that job of serving the drunken son. :nono: For Gurdas Maan fans out there, you will all know that in his last verse he always sends a message which is usually somewhat meaningful and sensible. However in this song he says - apne goriyan kolohn haal puchann pind da, marjaney mana kio punjab janda kinda, kadey kisey rahi kolon vaak na janaab hove'- -I ask my fellow villager about the state of Goriyan (village) -Oh, why my humble Mann is punjab disintegrating ? -Never from any ravi or from the ravi(river) should the chenab river be separated. So here he has gone on to talk about the partition of the river ravi and chenab in pakistan punjab and India, and the punjab of now disintegrating. ........But this sober verse has drifted from the message of staying sober, where the previous lines about jatt and his sharaab are what contributes to the bad times of punjab in the 1st place !! Contradicting ?? Anyway, it reminded me of his early somewhat anti-sharab song 'Vadiya sharibian ve' - which was sang as if the liquor was speaking to the alcoholic. ''Vadiya sharibiya ve, meh hanh sharab teri, ginh ginh tereh meh hasabh laoughi, aaj tu menu pindha kal meh piungee'' It was saying that - ''you are the big drunk always finishing and emptying me, BUT I shall keep an account (ginh ginh tereh meh hasabh laounghi) of all the times you have drank and finished me, then one day, tomorrow, I shall drink and finish you.'' Meaning that in the end the liquor will win and stay whilst the alcoholic's lfe will come to an end on account of this very liquor. This was the type of song that gave the message of what the outcome becomes of any drinker out there. I think some of you guys should understand about what I said about his earlier music and songs compared to later stuff. He is now simply a disgrace to his own self and earlier image/respect that was gained solely through love of music back then. Nowadays every thing is done from and for the wallet and not the love of God in any way.
  12. This video always surfaces when such issue come up. It's one of the favorites by the baba bashers along with some guy who claims he was beaten up after he saw some unlawful acts in the company of Ranjit dhadrianwala Fact is, and someone said earlier...that he is probably the best person at the moment for doing parchar worldwide. Gurdas Maan is a disgrace. I'm saying this and I was probably his biggest fan in the late 80's and 90's. I can say that he definitely influenced many youth towards the right tracks in his early days....but I agree since 'apna punjab hovey' ..(song about jatt and his desi sharab).... i lost complete interest in the guy. Yeh, it's a catchy song that will get you 'chakking' the shoulders.... but the message is bad and it hurts, especially with the current state of punjab's liquor and drug abuse. He is nothing but a spoilt money maker.. who once sang music for the love of it but now sings just for selling to demand. As for his devotion and association with this s*lah/grave worship/smoking/masti.... I'm just gonna say.........''utter disgrace!'' the mamla is too much of a garhbar now !
  13. I'm sorry that you feel I'm out against you by deliberately liking other's posts. But I only put a 'like' to the posts that I feel were worth the read and effort by poster and also one's that I may find inspiring or interesting. I have never chosen to be anyone's right hand man and if you believe I'm a missionary... then that is your choice and judgement ! Whether it is a judgement of error, ...... who am I to say ??.....................I am the greatest pappi and the lowest of the low. So please, I beg you not to weigh me down, as I'm trying to correct and develop myself in order to get up and rise into the light of sikhi. I don't find any of the above statement funny as you stated, and I can't see what the joke may be. I have enough of my own karmic weight holding me down already, so please don't make the anchor any heavier for a no good sinner like me. If i have offended or hurt anyone, then I apologize, But I am trying, day after day with truest intentions. I am better today than I was yesterday, and tomorrow, I hope to be better than today. Waheguru
  14. What a god-damned mess this whole thing is. I can't believe how gullible our people are ???
  15. I assume mecsingh is from mexico or other south americas maybe. I also understand how some of them may feel like they are picked on by the masses. But it was a sincere question regarding the facts about sri Guru Granth sahib bir in the pagoda. I am aware about the Akal takht decision mentioned above by samosasingh, but I know this was to target the venues where a hotel ballroom/hall, community hall, function room....etc.. would be hired and BOTH anand karaj and reception would take place in the same place ! On the same grounds we would have Guruji saroop in the morning and then tables and chairs with both liquor and meat being served in the afternoon.buil With these resort/holiday vacations in exotic locations there is probably a little gray area that is being exploited, as in above wedding. I attended a similar wedding some time ago but it was not a sikh wedding...-it was a hindu ceremony, followed by a catholic one later, as the couple were from these backgrounds. I found that these hotel venues have all the preps for different kinds of weddings and they cater for everything that may be needed. They have this outdoor Pagoda/Gazebo style ceremony area that is just reserved for ceremonies of different faiths. I don't think that any liquor/meat is ever served in that place because there are other licensed areas in the vicinity for those purposes. ..BUT...this doesn't stop anyone walking in with a glass of liquor in one hand and something else in the other..Because when the reception is in full swing in some other bar area, then anyone is free to roam the grounds as they wish ! So strictly speaking, this same gazebo place is not kept sacred or reserved in that sense, and like I say..it's a bit of a gray area as the intentions are a little different to what akal takht edict was directed at. Bottom line should be that anand karaj should be in Gurdwara only which means that couples wish to marry in some exotic location may not happen if no gurdwara is there. Samsosingh ji has rightfully mentioned the fact about our sole granthi businessmen, who keep a Sri guru granth sahib ji bir at home and privately offer their services to travel with it as if they are providing a 'locum granthi service'. Until this situation does not get resolved, then these corrupt manmukhs will keep Guruji saroop like a business commodity based on supply and demand. It still goes on in most countries but is kept a little hush hush. I remember a few years ago in UK, there was some business man who wanted his anand karaj in a private location by some caves/scenic park near the cliffs around in Dover somewhere.... and he did make it happen because i came across the two very granthis in northern ireland where they conducted another wedding that i attended. - there was no beadbi or issue here but it was because although a gurdwara was available, they had no granthis at the time available to conduct the anand karaj.
  16. There are some very good points made above by Righteo, especially the right handed stuff and the right side of body. I think there are probably quite a few reasons why parkhama and even lavah are done clockwise. Firstly, I think that most of us are Right handed and when we need to use a little power to do or move something, then we use our DOMINANT side right arm, hand, leg or foot. In my opinion, one of the ideas of parkhama is SACRIFICE your ego and self over Guruji.- and wouldn't we be better doing this if submitting our dominant side (right side), especially when it comes to self power and ego ? Also, in lavanh, the doiminant male Singh sits on the right side of the woman. (Dominant- meaning that the woman marries into HIS house and family- I'm not talking about dominant/equal rights etc ) and the male singh also leads in this same dominance with the pallah over the RIGHT shoulder. Circumambulation is the term for parkhama in all other faiths and they mostly go clockwise except for the muslims going anti- around the kabba ! In old vedic/hindu, the rishi munis used to believe the earth goes around the Sun clockwise, and they regarded the earth as us(people) and the sun as God. However, we know that the earth rotates anti-clockwise on its own axis but circles the Sun in clockwise manner overall and this is one of the reasons why hindus perform the arti or puja in front of the murti, doing the revolutions in anti-clockwise manner and then do parkhama around the same murti in a clockwise motion ! Also, as mentioned by Righteo above, the right side is the positive side in terms of energy and karmic imprints,...and also the spiritual gaining side. So the idea of getting the positive Grace of guruji, the blessings on positive karma to gain more posiitves to counteract our negatives, makes sense to submit this right side or ourselves. The nihangs doing the opposite anti-clockwise also makes a little sense to me since they have already submitted their ego's and life force to their shastar. To submit and have blessings for shastar only seems appropriate in their conduct. It probably also makes sense that they offer their heart on the left side as their ego is more inclined into their shastar, unlike the rest of us who have our egos overruling our hearts and the whole show !
  17. Did the Gurus completely reject caste ? ...OR did they accept it as a social order BUT rejected the fact that equality and spiritual equality should exist amongst all clans and castes in such social order ??? :stupidme: confused!!.......because everyone is mixing caste/surnames/origins.....etc along with inequality !
  18. It's a long ongoing battle. My advice is to keep going, keep going and give it all you can.......and keep at it !! I know that there are times when one can sit there and continue japping, but the mind keeps bringing in thought after thought and distractions..one after another.....such that, when you finish/stop or it's time to stop......you feel guilty and disgusted that you had all these thoughts all the while trying to do simran ! Don't give up.. keep going and keep trying.. Guru Nanak ji's says in sidh gosht that ''one may have to chew iron with teeth of wax to get to waheguru, but with the use of Shabad, this is all possible for the devoted gurmukh'' He knows if you are making the effort even though there has been many times when I have felt that my thought's were unnecessary and complete sacrilege to the name of waheguru. But believe me, he knows and for every one step you take, he takes ten or more towards you.
  19. Excellent response that I very much enjoyed reading more than once ! :biggrin2:
  20. I will let you know when I get around to it ! I know I can come up with something by spending 2 full days on it..BUT at the moment my main priority is just doing simran...any spare moments I have then that's what I like to do..
  21. It's more of sampling and mixing with a beat producing program and then sitting the whole thing sitting on the specific base frequency. I have access to most of the gear and it was my wife that suggested I make some for the kids to listen to !
  22. The best language is the 'unspoken language' of Akal Purakh. When it comes to saying Va or Wah, then I don't think that either is incorrect or wrong. In punjabi alone there are more than a dozen different dialects across punjab....and the V's/W'sounds and sometimes even a B'sound,.. J's/Y's sounds...etc..all interchange !
  23. Agree totally with above post and suggestions. I would also probably say to just focus on waheguru simran and jap... and it well help you get through it.
  24. 3rd eye is the agya chakra in between your brows and dasam duar is crown chakra. Many sources get these mixed up or put them together. The 3rd eye chakra is active when we are babies, but it closes up as we grow up in the maya world. You should focus on NAAM SIMRAN as the core, and all your chakras start opening up and getting balance with the dasam duar/crown chakra as the last goal. The video above uses binaural beats and specific base frequencies that have been proven to produce the same wavelengths you get with deep meditation. It's very interesting stuff and I'm actually going to try and compose my own waheguru simran with binaural beats instead of just relaxing music you get with some other waheguru simran tracks. (this technology does have some strong basis!) BUT.. you can't and mustn't use it as an alternative. If it can help you settle down to prepare you for mediation, then use it as little tool here and there,....BUT focus on Naam simran and everything slowly begins to fall in place with his grace.
  25. Yeh...right dude......(as if i'm fabricating this!)..................tell that to one of the victim's families in Canada and see what you get ??
