  1. I totally agree with what you are saying here. The above reference from bhai Raghbir's book is about nternal activity during simran as one goes in very deep within one self. As you describe....... getting physical sensations after simran is most probably due to sudden blood rush when changing position of body.
  2. I was just quoting typical playground talk between boys.
  3. No problem with Fateh Doe,.... people like that help grab back some of our lost gangsta rap youth. We have youth lost in all sorts of different directions.....and sometimes you have to go on their level to try and get the message across. A few very small artists have done this by singing the usual mainstream rubbish to get the attention of youth,....and then later try and get some serious messages across to them. But that person above doing his kanjarie dances.....well-we all know which annoying poofter kid he was in the school playground !
  4. Sikhiseeker ji,.......You have made some valuable points that need contemplating........I wholeheartedly agree. We can't just blindly jump on boycott bandwagons without looking at individual cases and situations. For me personally, sikhi is about getting to that avastha where I can see and feel the brahm jyot within every single life form, regardless of color, caste or faith.. Being aware of both sides of any coin is the only way we can be more certain about making our own individual choices. You are correct SIkhiseekerji, because you have made me accept one prejudice weakness that I may have ! Yes, I would have no problem accepting foods from any other faith like jews, christians or hindus........BUT when it comes to islam.....then suddenly, it becomes a hesitant issue. Maybe it's because, immediately and subconsciously, I think that the muslim strongly believes I'm a kafir and infidel. OR maybe it's because I know that jewish, christian and hindus will exchange most foods with each other without question but the muslim won't. Either way, I will have the tendency to single out the muslim. It is probably their own actions that have instilled these islamaphobias within some of us ? But as in any phobia, the problem is me and my own fear itself...Let's say if, I have arachnophobia(spider-fear), then it's not the spiders that are to blame but it's my own shortcomings and inability to conquer this fear.....In the same way, I can't be blaming all the muslims for the islamphobias I may have developed. I admit, that's my problem and my weakness based up on my upbringing and experiences with muslims throughout my life. My intentions were not to be endorsing 'boycott halal' or islam for that matter....But it was to give some exposure and awareness so that we can all make our own individual decisions at the end of the day.
  5. I'm not quite sure why you feel their is no point boycotting the non-meat products or I'm misunderstanding something ?? Should we really be paying a tax on these simple products that contributes to islamic ZAKAT.........which we can guess where the money finally ends up ?? To be honest, it's not the meat argument that concerns most us as you have said.....but many of us are unknowingly getting fooled into paying for these halal endorsements... I know that they start shouting ''islamaphobia'' when someone makes a stand, but really why do they trick us 'INFIDELS and impure harams' into paying their halal endorsements.. In effect, they are using money from <banned word filter activated> kaffirs (as they label us non-islams) for their zakats !! Some people have even labeled this as a 'Stealth Jihad'...where it is a hidden form of jihad that they are winning via agriculture, products and consumer markets. in the future, we may end up having to deal with all legal applications under parliaments secretly run by sharia law.........what the hell ?
  6. One reason for these non-meat products labeled as halal is that so these consumer hungry companies can export products to Middle Eastern and South east Asian countries. They have many products ranging from toiletries to baked beans....these damned lists are growing by the second. So, many of us are probably not worried or bothered because we are thinking that it is all about companies making a fast buck and expanding their markets.... Well if you think it doesn't matter then you could well be wrong ?? Because the other issue here is WHO is endorsing this halal status ?............. ............It's these so called non-profit organizations like MCG-muslim consumer group,...IFANCA and in Canada they have Islamic food and Nutrition Council of Canada (IFANCC),...Halal certifcation agency HCA....Halal Council of Europe,,,, and there's probably as many more for as many sub-groups and islamic divisions they have !! From what I know and have learned is that these very organizations obviously get funded by the companies...because if someone at some company says ..... ....''what do we have to do to get our products to middle east and for the growing muslim populations to purchase in freedom ??'' answer will be ''Get the islamic stamp approvals which will cost XXX and then we will have no worries and newer bigger market !!!..'' but these certification approvals claim that the funds are for muslim charities or whatever to get these exemptions .... They claim it's all part of the Islamic ZAKAT ......BUT the deep fact of the matter is they fund the terrorist organizations of course or build another few mosques here and there........ So all of us should be careful in what brands or stores we purchase from... We are all making ourselves responsible for the next attack in our cities and countries. There have been many groups that have tried to speak out about this and nearly all have them have been threatened by the organizations to shut up. Have a look at just the many groups around different cities in the world under the ''BOYCOTT HALAL'' banner see http://www.boycotthalal.com/ and since the aussies have started shouting...the message seems to be spreading see http://www.halalchoices.com.au/take_action.html and you will see more than kelloggs on there !! What should we do ? Instead of using the billions of sangat money from golacks...to building new gurdwaras,...making luxurious kitchens and langar halls... funding gyanis and expensive gurdwara vehicles....we could be investing into our own growing of organic fruits, veg and produce ..couldn't we ?. .
  7. Gurmat doesn't come into it.............It's more a manmat issue because you are using the 'mat' of your mind and asking others minds as well. So please don't get confused in trying to convince the opposing parties by saying you are acting in gurmat....They will only accuse you of trying to act righteous or be pretending because you may well be saying something like it's gurmat to marry out of caste, family status...etc.. HOWEVER, ...if you believe that the marriage between both of you will help you both lead a path inclined towards gurmat, then that is another thing ! (let me explain a little) Please Note that a marriage in sikhi is not between the couple, but more importantly, between the the pair of you merging with Waheguru's jyot at the same time. It 's not about 2 jyots become one, where your jyot blends with her's.....but it's about both of you blending together in Waheguru's jyot.....your 2 jyots become one with Waheguru. Your wife should be the one that is your 24hr sadh sangat,..... the one that inspires you to be as gurmat to the max and vice versa...... You should both be encouraging each other to bring out the best sikhi and gurmat in each of you for the rest of your lives. If you are strongly convinced that the pair of you fit this criteria, then you can tell the opposing parties that you both believe that you will lead and help each other towards the 'Sat/truth' whilst walking along in gurmat. A sikhs path is to the purest form of the ONE SAT or truth. If a sikh feels that some force is oppressing or cutting this path, then you use all means necessary and Guru's hukam guides you. ......Then you are in pure hukam and in complete gurmat ! The question you have to ask yourselves is that do you both feel inclined in this way about each other ? If so,...then yes, it may well be gurmat. You need to cover all grounds, especially when approaching families involved in manmat cults.... because they will absolutely refuse to listen to a younger who thinks they are acting in gurmat. But if you can explain the above and about what both of you mean to each other..... it may help them question their own faults, weakness and manmat activities !! Be prepared because some people (like some of my own family!) are hard work. Good luck !
  8. Never done it or ever accepted it ! It's all fake, ego....counting......remembering...judging......MANMAT like most punjabi cultural actions
  9. ... ''insertion of yoga into nitnem''........or is it a yoga kriya done using jaap sahib ?? Am i doing beadbi everytime I work out in the gym with kirtan and gurbani on my music player ? This bowing to jaap sahib has been discussed previously in thread below and I seem to understand it ok......but maybe thats my problem. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/64968-bowing-jaap-sahib/
  10. good points Of course,....so much to learn and teach at the same time.......... Where our weaknesses have failed many of us, they have excelled and vice versa . excellent point !! 'Chardikala jatha' are hazoori raageez that are in my list of well respected gurbani kirtanees. I think that their parents were from the yogi's era, but they are 2nd generation 3ho that have got fully immersed into true sikhi.
  11. Good advice above int the quotes. Sing from your heart and FEEL the meaning of the shabad. Do some gurbani vichaar on the shabad you are singing so that you FEEL it's essence. Then when you are praising and doing kirtan, you are expressing this very 'FEEL'. -This 'FEEL' is very important rather than sounding good- For those of us who think we have terrible voices like myself, I find that singing or doing kirtan in a group or duet with another devotee will help bring out the best in all of you. You should try or arrange doing kirtan where two of you are singing the same notes at the same time... and this will help correct any weakness and give you an uplift of confidence. REMEMBER-that SANGAT is very important and that it is all about helping in bringing out the best of each other in all aspects.
  12. I have no idea what you are saying with who has divergent views.....Could you please elaborate for some meaningful discussion ?
  13. I too would recommend this method for all banis. Reading along whilst listening to audio will also help with pronunciation errors that one may encounter.
  14. well I'm not going to do ustat or nindya of anyone...... If someone is giving spiritual advice about God and how to meet waheguru, you can extract and take the good and useful gems that they may have to offer in their works and move on. If something doesn't fit into your ways or you doubt that it is as per gurmat... the you can ignore that bit. If you only want to praise and hear the original,..... then by all means go your way. In the op,...you made an innocent request about anyone knowing something with regards to Mr Twitchell.and his eckankar .......But your previous post simply points in the direction that you have already made up your mind and judgement. If you want to discuss your opinions or some of his literature... then please go ahead, as I have my entitled opinion and everyone else is rightly entitled to theirs Otherwise Good luck ji
  15. Yes, this is the central considering point. However....when a 14 year old has been forced to leave his parents home, then he would obviously be most vulnerable.......and the last thing that anyone should be doing is forcing dharam on the poor soul, when he needs more reassurance, support, counseling and someone to bear his psychological burden. If the parents of the household where he is staying now, insist that he has to wear patka as one of the conditions of having a roof over his head,.....then that would ONLY be fine if he has shown some previous interest to sikhi... and it is part of adapting and learning. Otherwise,... if you are forcing regulations on a person who is vulnerable and in a very unstable physical welfare and psychological position,... then you are simply abusing your powers of control on the poor soul. This is NOT sikhi as far as I understand.
  16. Yes I am aware of him. Have you read any of his literature ? It's quite interesting, especially if you are on a spiritual path.
  17. I know...why foolishly dramatize this. There is no ''catch 22'' anywhere!!!!! You should all know that the panj pyarey are not going to put their hands out to accept any offering whilst walking the nagar kirtan.....this is no matter of whos making the offer. I've never even see them drink a sip of water when walking. It's pretty damned obvious that someone would have stepped in seconds later to move the man out of the way as he was simply causing an obstruction on the walking path..... Singbj ji... Don't mind me saying... but you have way too much time on your hands to be wasting by starting silly threads like this and doing matriminonal vichola fixing !!!! Please don't waste valuable time.. instead you should be trying to accumulate as much wealth and SAAS of naam as you can......simer, simer...Naam simran. If you need help with this, then see the many threads that are already here or start a new one. Waheguru...waheguru...waheguru....waheguru....waheguru.........
  18. of course it didn't.....became more costly for me.... .....I ended up purchasing a 2nd one, so that we have one in the room and one in the landing as well ! :lol2:
  19. UK oldies have known this for years.....I too can't understand why it's making news and why some sikhs find it a shocker. It's funny how you mention milk-snatching because I was at school in those days when those little glass bottles in the mornings got stopped ! For us coloured kids, racism was just a way of life and we got used to it..........I even remember the sikh-'Chaggar' kid who get kllled in a racist attack.
  20. All I can say after reading the above is ''Chakdey phattey...........jeenday rahao(long live) merey Sikh Punjabio'' Whenever we get these impostors and trolls on here, we should all act together and immediately instead of sitting back and letting other forum posters deal with it. We have to support each other to keep the strength and chardikala of sikh panth. Somehow let this 'S.O.B.' bark tooooo long to get as far as 10 pages on here !! Admin should have already banned this defecating cross breed.
  21. nothing to do with any maryada....so let's stop complicating this issue. The op has kindly asked about her situation and where she stands...........so, instead of shouting our opinions we should try and give some explanations and advice. Yes,, same surname does not always mean same village and same family origins.
  22. Oh yeah Mr malangbadshah-................check the stats of runaway girls from muslim backgrounds compared to sikh.....Places like Glasgow where most runaways go have more than triple the number of musalmaan kuriyaan compared to sikh. I know someone mentioned early on on here ..but the number of brown asian strippers and prostitutes in UK are mostly punjabi muslim background.
