  1. I know may sound a bit crazy but you could try talking to Vaheguru. Just talk, out loud or in your mind, they are always listening and will help. Also helps you build that relationship and become closer. You could also confide in one of your friends too if you can;t with your family. You have to make that step of opening up a bit but remember its a two way thing. listen as well as talk. And think positive... The glass is half full!

Maaf karna, apologies if I said anything wrong. it was in response to the 'I think we need to be a bit liberal here for the bibiya'. And no I don't do everything, nowhere even close... but I/we should all aim to try to hunna.

If your father asks you not to do something and you do it anyway, whats the state of that relationship? Where's the trust and respect? We have all had Hukam from Dharam Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee to adhere to the Rehat and Maryada and we should therefore be trying to and helping others to do so as well... And to bhenji, maybe talk to other Gursikh sisters who have/are going through similar thing, it may help, but above all do ardaas and stay strong...
  5. Nice... but Vaisakhi isn't the Sikh New Year, so surprised at how many (apney) people get this wrong.
  6. A Singh came out of Harmandir Sahib complex one time and came across a palm reader after a short while. The palm reader called to the Singh numerous times but the Singh walked straight on by. Then he thought to himself, and turned back. He went to the palm reader happy to get another customer. How much to tell my future said the Singh. The palm reader told him the price. The Singh paid the palm reader and straight away after paying he slapped the palm reader. The palm reader was obviouslly stunned, The Singh truned to walk away and teh palm reader called him to stop and explain his actions. The Singh replied and said 'How were you going to read my hand and tell me my future when you dont even know your own future. Had you have known the future, you wouldnt have called me over and got hit.' And walked away. Simple moral - astrology, palm reading, tarots etc... it's all useless pakhand.
  7. Talk to the other workers and if everyone is unhappy then all get together and go talk to the management. They are much more likely to take action and not get fired if all go as a group rather than someone going in on their own.
  8. Missed it but SAS do a great job... And lets not even start about the EDL :s
  9. And your basing this on....? And yes, 'quakes' can happen almost anywhere now and always have done and always will. There are actually around 500,000 earthquakes each year - See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthquake. And regarding Earthquakes in the USA, there has already been 2 earthquakes there over magnitude 3 just this morning - See: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/quakes_big.php Sorry, but scaremongering annoys me. Rather than on about how world going to end, prepare and Jap Naam, we are all looking too far forward, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji told us 500 years+ ago that we don't even know if our next breath is going to come!
  10. I doubt anyone would just hit someone without some provocation... But anyway, its just plain silly to press charges. We're all brothers and sisters and sometimes we have little fights but we should sort it out like brothers/sisters too. Get them to sit down and talk, learn from it, become closer and move on.
  11. So cool to see Sikhs all over the world Is there much Sangat there? But not so good to hear about dastaar issue there Maybe try contacting United Sikhs at http://www.unitedsikhs.org/contact.php
  12. Which country do you live in phaji?
  13. I thought was a tad distasteful how they mock what the Singhni says with the indian accent dog voiceover reply.
  14. Theres also more others like so its just his videos overlayed with different tracks. Now I don't know anything about him but seems they seem a different community with own beliefs/religion. If by some great good fortune they come to hear/chant Satnam Vaheguru (which we don't know they do by just this video) then why stop that?

    Ardas To Guru Ji

Vaheguru works in mysterious ways and just because (you think) something hasn't happened yet, it doesn't mean it wont or hasn't started. Or maybe it's not the right time yet. Btw, here's also a cool little story/poem... I asked for strength, And God gave me difficulties to make me strong; I asked for wisdom, And God gave me problems to learn to solve; I asked for prosperity, And God gave me brain and brawn to work; I asked for courage, And God gave me dangers to overcome; I asked for love, And God gave me people to help; I asked for favors, And God gave me opportunities. I received nothing I wanted – I received everything I needed. My prayer has been answered!
  18. We had the same thoughts as yourselves (we're both Amritdhari) and ended up doing Asa dee Vaar at the Gurdwara, followed by Sukhmani Sahib Paath. After Ardaas and having sung Kurmai Shabad, a few males (dad, chachis etc) from (future) brides side came over to me and gave pyaar (Sri Sahib, Dastaar, something sweet - mishree etc and some money) whilst I remained sat over guys side as normal. After this, some females from my (grooms) side went over to future Singhni and gave her pyaar (Sri Sahib, Dastaar, Kanga, something sweet - mishree etc and some money). And then carried on with Divaan with Kirtan/Katha. Nice and simple with no fuss The (future) brides side did bring fruit baskets when they came which were then distributed in the langar. And we both don't wear any jewellery anyway so never even discussed/thought about rings. What we did is not necessarily right, just thought id' share what we did recently whilst hoping to keep it Gurmat. Hope that helps. Oh and congratulations btw!
