  1. I felt very deep pain for this babaji, as it made me realize our time on this earth is limited by what we think. Who knows if we will live for 50, 60, 70. I am 30 years old and I feel I have wasted my life, may God bless all us with more naam, waheguru and simiran. Very sad video, but I hope this babaji is doing kirtan with god right now. Wjkk wjlf
  2. Dear Sangat Ji, I head to work everyday and before I go, i do mahraj's darshan at Gurdwara Sahiab. I take parshad, once or twice, I have given prashad to a fellow co-worker who had a Sikh last name. I was approached with him, he was saying, he's not sure where he is in his faith, but rejects getting prashad. All I know, is even if your atheist, why would you reject parashad. Anyhow was so confused, but said okay.

  4. I went from seattle to miluwake to paris to delhi. NEVER AGAIN. FRANCE IS REALLY EXPENSIVE
  5. I would suggest a couple of things: - Read interesting books - Travel to one new place each year - Volunteer yourself -Forget finding love, find yourself.
  6. Theres a lot of fake baba, so what if we showed riddhi sidhi. I think you know what alot of holy people talk about sukhmmani sahiab. Its hard to see anyone a saint if they have millions of dollars around, and theres poor people all over india.
  7. I have been grappling a problem in my brain for the past 2 days. I have lost all interest in doing anything, whatès the point of doing anything in life, if there really is no way it is going to remain, or if the whole point of life is to remember god. Why did god create us in the first place..
  8. I'm trying to find the name of the Sikh Saint, he was born in the UK, and achieved englightment in England. He was a uk born saint, I heard his katha couple of years ago, and found it life changing. Please sangat ji, help me with this request!
  9. I think Mr.Kaleka's comments are out of line, maybe the ministers were showing their respects. Were all human beings I guess.
  10. An atheist asked me this question, and I gave the reason that God is omni-present, everyone has their choice. She wasn't satisifed with my answer, does anyone have a reason.
  11. Honestly bro, My parents own something related to the wedding industry and thats sort of a rough figure, 50K, your right there are a lot of apnai who will spend more for that. Ridiculous amounts, I have seen "BELLY Dancers" now at weddings, so embarassing, no shame by people. Anyhow, amritdhari or not, I find weddings to be disgusting and boring. I'm more inclined with how goras do it, simple weddings.
  12. Honestly, I would sell your zameen in Punjab, prices in Punjab are high for a reason, because of residential development, its not the land itself. Punjabis aren't rich because they sell off zameen, they'll work 24/7 days a week for passai. I would suggest looking at Saskatchewan or so. Cheers My father owns about 4 acres of Punjab, I am hoping he'll sell it, buy land in Vancouver
  13. Honestly, the Sikh wedding has turned into a big show, people take out 50,000 loans from the bank to stage these. A typical wedding cost is this: $20,000 for wedding rental hall (food, dj) $5000 for gurdwara rental! $5000-1000 for suits $5000 for camera man, photographers $1000 for makeup artist $2000 for limo Add all that up and this is the typical middle class Indian wedding in Vancouver. It's obscene, and half the time the people get a divorce. I really think what happens is the middle class want to show off their wealth, but its all a show people.
  14. Hey veerji, We all make mistakes, paying for sex is a pretty bad one, because of all the diseases, but I know a number of men who do it. Don't feel bad, whatever happens, happens. Just pretend to be ethe person you want to be and everything will work out.
  15. Really sad to why this happend, kaam is something that can kill someone literally and spiritually. I feel bad for the bro as well, he made a wrong move and it cost him his life. But I feel bad for the girl, no girl deserves to be raped or attempted to be rape. That is life, this is all kalyug.
  16. Hi California Sardar veerji, I have always had luck with women, a couple of things that will help you that I would suggest. -Women dont' give a <banned word filter activated> about your issues, alot of them dont want a 'nice' guy, they say they do, if they could they would sleep with you on the first date. -Stop being a woman, why doesn't a girl love you, that type of stuff comes out indirectly to women. -If you have to get married in Punjab, you'll have a ton of chicks after you, some of them might marry you cause your their ticket out of poverty, but so be it. -Just because you have a paag, doesn't mean your not manly enough. Girls want a MAN, not a boy. I'm no one to talk but, just have faith in God, hopefully you'll realiuze this is all a journey. I would suggest typing 'pua' in google, reading articles along that line. It will definitely help you, its helped me be understand women more, and hopefuly help you in the ladies category.
  17. I have felt this way since 2010. I have felt completely lost and honestly lonely. I dont think I am depressed, but I have this hunger for something in life, and I feel like I have no purpose or direction. I'm not sure what it is, I try to go to sangat everyweek. I feel like my life has no meaning, and I have tried to fill it with something, but nothing has filled th void.
  18. WJKK WJKF, I was wondering what to do for the past number of months, I have felt emptyiness and lonliness. Not sure what to do about it?
  19. Waheguru Ji Ka Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, I have started doing dasvandh, and was wondering if you knew of any worthwhile Sikh charities in Canada that are doing good work in our community to donate money to. Kind Regards, Aman Dhaliwal

  22. My grandfather was sleeping one day under a tree in Punjab, and in his dream he saw Guru Gobind Singh Ji and told him to build a gurdwara. They did history of the pind and found that Guru Sahib was in the village 400 years ago, when he was coming back from the Machiwara Jungle. The gurdwara is in the pind - Keera Afghana
  23. Hi Guys, I noticed there were A LOT of Bhangra stalls, I think the whole mood of the nagar kirtan has really changed. It's just turning into this one big Food fest, with bhangra gigs. I dunno I am not anyone to judge, but I think its only one day where we have gurbani in the streets, people should be ashamed who do the bhangra stalls. ** Mod Note: You had opened a similar thread regarding Vancouver nagar kirtan which was promptly closed. We still feel that rather than opening a thread on SS, you should be contacting the organizers with your concerns. However, we are leaving this thread open for now **
  24. One thing that really irked me on my trip in Punjab was the disregard for the environment. People would throw out garbage with no regard for the environment. I think my village was extremely dirty, just going for walks when I did. I am not sure what can be done, except education and maybe the Sarpanches need to hire garbagemen. I found this was the case in all of the major cities of Punjab, especially Ludhiana, and other major cities. I felt Ahmedgarh Mandi was the worst. It was probably one of the grossest places I have ever been in my life.
