  1. we all know how people can get emotionally attached to other people this is not what i am posting. what i want to know what if you get attached to something else i.e. a particular thought and you obsess about that thought constantly........letting that thought ruin you in some way.....im not talking about myself personally..............i was just wondering people arent the only things we can get mentally attached to is it.........so how can we overcome this............what are the rest of your views.
  2. Everybody in the sikh community i think i willing to help BUT the thing is the families cut these poor women off from everyone........they speak little to no English and cannot ask anyone for help maybe the only outlet for these women is the Gurdwara so more awareness need to be made within the Gurdwaras i think....................
  3. does that mean you agree with me or not im confused lol about the exclamation marks lol
  4. To be honest with you punjabi is the easiest language to learn because you write just exactly as you speak i.e. no silent letters etc
  5. watching that video makes you feel all happy inside...............''muslims hide the truth because they know sikhi is the truth'' someone said that and it makes you think of how insecure they are in islamic countries they dont teach about other religions because of the fear they have same goes with india i guess.........sikhi is the only religion i think that allows you to question it BUT the person who questions sikhi is always corrected BECAUSE sikhi is the truth
  6. they are saying that '' the amridhari girl did not go back to sikhi becuase sikhi is a lie'' even tho the girl has gone back to her family! they then at the end put up rubbish statistics like 75% of sikh men feel threatened when their wives question them"...............then again all men feel threatened when their wives question them LOL.............but anyway this is the kind of rubbish the put up!
  7. Alot of videos like this and being made and being posted on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYVNO_1hmrs
  8. NOTE: not trying to be offensive just trying to understand. I thnk sahejdhari veer wants a relgious girl who follows sikhi properly but thinks he wont be able to get a religious girl because he himself isnt religious (im guessing here so im so sorry if im wrong) BUT then gets frustrated because he sees that the only type of girl he will get is the ''slag'' as he would call them. veer no woman is a slag they may not be your sisters but they are somebody elses init if you call a woman a slag what does that make you........my advice forgot about relationships for now and concentrate on developing your sikhi and Vaheguru will provide for you. 9. I dont think EVERY sikh girl messes about and I dont think EVERY sikh guy messes about, there are too many generalisations here! People go abroad to find someone for many reasons..............would people please think before posting and stops making huge sweeping comments that all sikh women do is sleep around and all sikhs use and abuse women! its bloody annoying! not every sikh guy and girl is like that im mean some do have standards you know. Bhul Chik Maaf.
  10. i talk to my mum in Punjabi but English with my dad weird i know
  11. what does this mean, i mean on the surface its self explanatory but i want an expalnation at a deeper level............if you do nothing does that mean God wont help you????
  12. I personally believe its not about colleges you could say the same for secondary (high) schools, universities and even work places where even adults are pressured to go out and have a drink at the end of the week..........its all about keeping good sangat and that means anyone from any religion who doesnt force their view onto you and doesnt lead you down the wrong path. sometimes kids/teenagers deliberately join these groups/gangs/whatever so they can in their own minds allow themselves to do things like drink, smoke etc.........a building cannot corrupt you it doesnt make any sense.............. 13. i found it somewhere along time ago like in 2004 lol and thought i should post it

  15. I read this somewhere: ''Cutting my hair and assuming a more acceptable western appearance was the easy way out - you could say assimilation at the cost of de-identification or even assimilation at the cost of humiliation because in my opinion, anyone with a demi-perm can never be taken seriously. Basically in Sikhism you can't cut your hair, you can't cut your beard in fact you can't cut anything. Which explains why Sikh gardens often look like jungles because we can't cut the lawn either. However it is a well known fact that scores of western Sikhs are visiting the barbers and abandoning their identity to look like the majority. But those who denounce the Sikh identity are conveniently overlooking the first step in being a Sikh i.e. to accept the Guru's instructions and wear the ordained Sikh uniform. At our school if you didn't wear the school uniform the headmaster gave you a detention. Who's to say what the big headmaster in the sky has in store for his pupils who refuse to wear their Sikh uniform. Maybe he too dishes out detention or worse still eternal damnation…in a demi-perm. The Sikh uniform was proclaimed by the tenth Guru; Guru Gobind Singh who in 1699 at a harvest festival called Vaisakhi initiated himself and his Sikhs into the universal 'personhood' called The Khalsa. The initiation served to unite Sikhs, to demolish walls of prejudice between man and man, woman and man, religion and religion and football team and football team - ok I made that one up, no one can unite different football supporters. The Khalsa shed all superstitions, birth and idol worship and enforced belief in only the One God. It also abolished the caste system by asking male Sikhs to adopt Singh as a suffix to their name and females to adopt Kaur. Kaur means princess and if you're a Sikh lady living in the east end of London you might well be a Pearly Princess referred to as a "Kaur-blimey"...who regularly plays the 'piana' with her sister 'En Kaur'. Singh means lion - which is perhaps appropriate because it's the lioness that does all the work around the den. The Khalsa collective serves to create nationalism and sovereignty but unlike the Borg collective in Star Trek, the Khalsa does not constrain our unique personalities, our individual paths in life and our membership of the Captain Kirk fan club. It seems that many forget that 'God fearing' people can also be 'fun making' people. God does have a sense of humour. Why else did he give us Teletubbies or the Eurovision Song Contest or George Bush. Sikhs can retain their identity and still crack jokes, have a boogie and with a little care for the turban, even go bungee-jumping!''
  16. i dont understand why sikh girls and boys are so afraid talk to someone if this is happening and i mean talk to anyone like the police, parents and/or relatives dont be ashamed to ask for help...........your parents/relatives wouldnt want you to get hurt i mean they are there to protect you.
  17. yea its very sad what happened but we shouldnt let them beat us...........i was using the district and central line today but no wierd looks today lol esp. on the 7/7 anniversary.
  18. in order to play xbox games on the 360 you need a hard drive and the latest updates for the xbox 360
  19. ALL sikhs should phone up BBC asian network and ask them to start a debate to discuss whether or not the Hijab is attractive/sexy or does it hold them back.............then we will see how THEY react........i tired of this sh!t..........sikhs dont wear turbans so that it makes em feel sexy (lol) but because our Gurus' commanded us to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. OYEE singhs arent the type to get depressed :umm: i meant young impressionable singhs who feel self conscious if you get me..........
  21. TOTALLY WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Its true that if you wear a turban because you want to it is much better than just by it being forced on you......i mean if you decided to wear it, it will make you more proud, confident and you will know why you are wearing it.Also, sikh women wear turbans how do you think it makes them feel.......BUT all im saying is comments like ''is it attractive'' or ''does it stop you from getting a girl'' are they really helpful! and I know this is a big issue so is the BBC Asian Network run by muslims and Hindus the best way to tackle this issue! Bhul Chuk Maaf
  23. I think BBC Asian Network is biased towards sikhs i dont think discussions like this are constructive in any way.............what about young sikhs and older sikhs who getting into sikhi how would they feel when they hear comments like ''is it attractive'' or ''will a woman ever marry a sikh in a turban'' i wouldnt be suprised if a couple of singhs got depressed over this issue..........
  24. I cant believe they have banned Manhunt 2. ITS CRAZY!!!!!!!!
  25. Amazing...........i think years ago i saw something like this at the British Museam and they had an exhibition on sikhism we went with my local punjabi school. Isnt there a way of asking the British Museam to do another exhibition on Sikhi............now we need to educate the masses more about sikhi than ever.......i mean look at the link provided most people from other religions get excited when they talk about the Holy grail BUT here we have Guru Ji's writing proving they existed etc......... but you never know with these things do you if they are fake or not.........so lets be cautious.
