  1. Agree, and this sets up further proof of the authenticity of the Dasam Bani that there is nothing wrong with the use of Kali as a metaphor. (Not as a Goddess to be prayed to.) The point is that Kali represents fierce unbridled fighting prowess. Disagree on your 2nd point. I think the "Hindu"/Sikh divide had emerged quite early on. Sikhs had no enmity, but the upper class Hindus did. For example, as early as Guru Amar Das ji's Guruship the nasty Brahmins complained to the Mughals that Guru ji is breaking Varn Ashram Dharam (caste system) by having people worship, prepare food, and eat together. Guru ji sent Bhai Jetha ji (Guru Ram Das ji) to defend the Sikh view.
  2. Lol! Right. But as @Prabh108 explained above, Halal mark may also mean that a portion of the proceeds are going to Muslim "charities" (jihad), if only as a part of the licensing for the Halal mark organization. So, better to avoid if possible. The best is just to make stuff at home. Or eat from others in our Panth. Which is exactly why Sikhs (and everybody) should avoid eating meat. It funds jihad. The only meat you should ever eat is that which is Jhatka'd by Singhs in full rehit, if you yourself are a Singh in full Nihung rehit, preparing for Dharam Yudh.

    Sikh History

First of all, we don't need any validation from anybody. If they don't want to believe our history, that's their problem, not ours. Secondly, if you're weak and wavering and find a need for validation from non-Sikhs, there are European and Muslim sources regarding Sikh history. For one, the Emperor Jahangir himself mentions in his autobiography that he wants to put an end the "shop" being run by Guru Arjun Dev ji in which gullible Muslims are becoming Sikhs. Given that the penalty for leaving Islam is death, what do you think the penalty was supposed to be for encouraging huge numbers of people to leave Islam? There was also a European traveler (forgot his name) who witnessed and mentioned Guru Sahib's shaheedi.

Don't say "amritdhari". Say "fake amritdhari". If you break the rehit, you are patit.

    Amritpaan

Well, in one sense, yes. But would you say the same in relation to hair? "It depends on the punj piyarays. If they are OK with you cutting your hair after taking Amrit, then it is OK." Well, no, it's not OK. There's an actual theory and doctrine behind it, not just the whim of the Panj Piyare on the spot, like they are just flipping a coin.
  6. The Akal Takhat, in one sense, does not ban meat, only halal meat. You can argue against this, but for the sake of Panthic unity, this is generally considered the case. This does not mean you should eat meat, however. All the organizations that favor bhagti (sant babas, Taksal, AKJ, etc.) favor refraining from meat. So, if you were eating meat before, this is no different. If you weren't, then you'd probably want to desist. The reason is simply that vegetarians in the Sikh/Indian context view meat as Taamsik (creates negativity). It's not merely that meat is obtained by killing a jeev. It's also taamsik.
  7. You answered 12 paragraphs/sentences with 1 line? Anyway, I didn't actually mention "sexual intercourse," only "sexual touching," because that's the terminology you used. So, answer the questions above. Including whether you're married. Also tell us whether you approach your husband/wife like a praey istri (woman other than your wife).
  8. I agree with the first part of your statement. Basically, you should not do anything before you are married that you would not want your wife/husband doing if you were married. The second part (in parentheses) is quite strange. Marriage is consent to be sexual with one another. "only when both parties consent"? Are you seriously stating that you should approach or behave towards your wife like you would with some random woman that you were not married to? If you go to, whatever, a store, a library, a conference, a workplace, you would obviously not touch a woman in any way. You would only talk with her, and that too, only if required. You would never walk up behind her, caress her shoulder and say "Hey, how's it going?" Are you really honestly saying that you want to require Sikh (or even non-Sikh) men to get "consent" before hugging, touching, fondling, or caressing their wives? What a great marriage that'll be. What would that be like? "Hello human that I have agreed to live with. Do I have you consent to place my hand on the small of your back?" "Please sign and date here. I'll need a copy of your driver's license and NH #. And do go to the Notary Public's to have the agreement notarized." If you are a male, it's quite sorry you've bought into "male feminism". Are you married? And is that how you think marriage works? If you are a female, I have to question why you think any man would ever want to marry you, if even after committing to caring for you until you die, he still would have no more ability to be sexual with you than any other female in the entire country.
  9. OK, but I would have imagined that you have family in Canada and have visited, as a lot of people have.
  10. You don't need to drink pasteurized milk if it is boiled. Boiling is at a higher temperature than pasteurization. Everybody boils their milk. You just need to ensure that it's from a reputable milkman. If you don't know, just buy packaged milk from the store. No need to avoid yogurt. Everybody makes yogurt from boiled milk anyway. Or you can buy from the store (brand yogurt, not the unlabeled plain bag stuff). Direct from buffalo. As is right from the teats? Ironically, that is also exactly when it would be safest, because there are so few bacteria. Bacteria only grows when milk sits out for some time, increasing with the number minutes and hours it is out. Direct from a buffalo would actually possibly be safer (don't do it if you're a scaredy cat). In your opinion. But the OP wants all the ways to ensure not to get sick. Why leave anything to chance? Bathing is certainly fine. You're not ingesting it. If OP really wants to play it safe, just avoid meat, period. Unless maybe Dominos, Pizza Hut or other international chains. OP has to decide what he wants. If you want to avoid risk at all, don't eat at restaurants, veggie or meat. If you can tolerate a bit of risk, eat veggie at international chains. A bit more risk, veggie at local restaurants that look clean. Even more risk, meat at international restaurants.
  11. It's no wonder you get sick, because it seems you like eating street food. To the OP, or anyone else: Don't eat street food! Why would you? Don't buy cut fruit. Buy whole fruit, take it home, wash it, cut, then eat. Don't eat outside. Problem solved.
  12. Agree. Buy raw foods and make yourself. We as Sikhs do not need to trust what others see as acceptable to eat. What's wrong with eating/drinking dairy?
  13. He basically stated it, though not quite explicitly. He is saying the girls feel compelled to sexualize themselves. The reason is is bringing the matter up is for the benefit of society, both young women and men. He's walking along and observing that people are drowning (in the Bhav Saagar), and saying how can we help them? Otherwise, he could say, what do I care?
  14. Right, and it's a good point. Again, the compilation of the Chhand names in the books is great. I haven't seen that in one place anywhere else. I think the scan is a bit off, though, some n's look like r's. Regarding Raag being sung, and Chhand not: A lot of people do keertan of Dasam Bani (outside of the Shabad Hazare, which are in Raag). For example, selections from Bachittar Natak. Comments?
  15. Very useful book. Though it should be noted he casts a bit of doubt on the Dasam Granth Sahib, too. The audio of the Youtube video is extremely bad, can't really even be heard.
  16. Just don't fight with them and keep on doing Gurbani and ardaas quietly on your own.
  17. It's been posted on this site before. There's a historical granth in which the Singhs ask Guru ji to add their bani to Guru Granth Sahib. Guru ji declines saying that (Guru Granth Sahib) is Guru, this (Dasam Granth) is my play.
  18. Exactly. There are a much of these "spiritual" people who can't even keep it in their pants. They are not truly spiritual at all. Spiritual means "in relation to the spirit". These people are all about the pleasures of the body.
  19. Thanks for sharing. Everybody out there take heed.
  20. What is the statue of? (I realize it doesn't matter, but still) A lot of these out of the way Gurdwaras don't get much Sikh sangat, and it's possible they may get more Hindus from surrounding areas. I would hope the "Satkar Committee" doesn't show up to riot. Rather, we should work with this Baba to quietly remove the statue.
  21. What does she argue about? Money? Does she work? What field? What about you? Do you make more than her? Much more or just a bit more? Are you comfortable, or just getting by? Do you have children? How many? Are you able to buy nice stuff for them or not? Does your wife lack for anything? Is she plain or pretty?
  22. Read what I wrote (and what you yourself even quoted in this very post!). I say "if you didn't love the Jihadis". I didn't say you are one, merely that you are overly fond of them. The thing is, it wouldn't do to simply give you an atta-boy on what you wrote in the original post (which was spot on). I had to throw you some shade, as well. I guess you were beat fighting the "white power structure" the entire day and didn't but glance at what I actually wrote. Good to know. Well, the vast majority of this board, and probably our Panth, would like to pursue unity among any humans to fight the Jihadi menace. You know, the ones who martyred our Gurus, their sons, and their devoted Sikhs? I realize (some) white men must make nasty comments about us in their exclusive London clubs, but they are not planning to slaughter us or extract jizya tax from us for being Sikhs. Or force our women to wear a face-veil. Also, we will get absolutely no reprieve from the Muslims because our religion came after Mohammed, the "seal of the Prophets". Therefore we get no special dhimmi status. We are infidels to be slaughtered.
  23. It is said that when Guru ji was informed of the martyrdom of his sons, he said: Char mooay tau kia bhaya, jeevat kei hazaar Meaning What does it matter if 4 died, many thousands live. That is that his other sons (the Khalsa) live on. So Guru Sahib didn't weep and cry like men today are encouraged to "show their emotions".
