  1. can see the enterprising use this as an excuse to accumulate on all the prakash diwases :biggrin2:
  2. I don't celebrate just have backdrop props ... Christmas stopped being about christianity many many hundred years ago . we eat normally , work as normal . SIkhi vich sare din are same , all equally blessed .
  3. If you know that someone you care about is about to fall down into a huge hole , would you shut up and let them do it just because it makes them temporarily happy due to their shortsightness (prior to falling) or would you be a true friend and warn them that the fall is ahead and how to avoid it ? lakh chaurasi joon is a living hell that lasts for millions of years before you get another chance at mukhti, would you want them to go through it just cos it may make them upset a small while until they realise ?
  4. but diff is my in-laws are catholic ...so their expectations are different from mine or yours ...just keep things calm , make them happy , do their sewa and send them home again far far across the ocean ....
  5. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I have a tree , it is artificial , it comes apart branch by branch, it is a real pain to put up and take down for a few days ,although it does look pretty while up, it lives unremembered in the loft all year ...all in all it symbolises Christmas perfectly ... we bought it to satisfy the oldies in my in-laws household to have some decorations up for the kiddies to appreciate whilst young , and to take piccies , neither the piccies or the tree get a look-in anyhow after the event , so it's not really a major thing at all , the kids never ask for it . Empty resam for non-existent birthday (roman census was in August ) chalo appa naame jappiya te shukar kariya sada Guru ji hai sadda sadda
  6. Veer ji for a soul vichorda is the living embodiment of hell ... that's why being stuck in lakh chaurasi for millions of years is no joke for Sikhs
  7. shouldn't it be a sewa done for free by sangat to ensure motivation is correct, we know that people who do it for the money are often very dhilleh in their execution of duties e.g. think granthis and akhand paats
  8. That was my point too when I suggested that saroops should be handwritten on demand for sangat by sangat as part of a total gursikh education package, if we are personally creating each ang from scratch each akkar will be a triple uccharan so creating the saroop would be an act of khoola paat in itself, where each scribe does a 'raul'. there can only be plusses for sangat and because each saroop will be supervised and given proper satkar including vetting of recipient(training of recipient in shudh uccharan and sewa can be going on whilst saroop is scribed), so no chance of beadbhi (or minimised chance). I think we should remember this is our Guru ji and during the two hundred years of Gurus 'deh' phase they were always in company of sikhs day and night, we should share this duty as a community not just rely on granthis to do everything. In a village situation this would be ideal as the load is spread through the sangat so no one person feels put upon and all look forward to doing the duty.
  9. I have no problem with facts , if they are facts i.e. the truth , substantiated with linked data... but of course wrongdoers should expect a Sikh to point out what is not right , it's part of their job description along with righting wrongs. If your faith cannot stand up in the bright light of truth , then the kammi is in your faith/cult not in the person who observes it. This is not the Emperor's clothes we can see the nang and we will say what we see, not ridicule but just simply state the fact like the little boy.
  10. Mate , i learnt about our history by reading books when I was 9 and it was then that I was ready for amrit mentally , reading and understanding or even hearing the sakhian of our kaum's heere has that effect. Which films and pictures were around in the 1800s and most of the 1900s , did we not have poora Gursikhs then , mahapurakhs? It is a false need, these films, our Guru ji told us that telling sakhian/itihaas would be enough to transform us , I have felt it myself and I believe it , it is what gave me unshakeable trust in Guru ji in the face of violence and hardships, not films. Plus do we really need shorthand reinterpretations of actual events by people ...or the truth of the matter?
  11. because the vast majority are just glad it's not their daughters caught up in this whole scenario...and are chicken to speak up
  12. it's like communism where some are more equal than others :biggrin2:
  13. As shakespeare 'the lady doth protest too much'
  14. I agree the ONLY way news is getting out is via social media because Indian press is bought up by Panth Dokhis...need click and share as quick as possible even spreading back to people in India as they are unaware of the interference and trust what they read and hear from Indian press. Veer ji I am confused about Baljit Singh is he or isn't he trustworthy , he seems to have Radha Soamis ear , and comes and goes out of jail seemingly unscathed when most our brothers come out injured or worse.?
  15. I think he misspelt his name , should be Shorn Takkar , anyway just opened his mouth and left not a single doubt just how much of a fool he really is
  16. Veer ji I'm a homeopath so I know just how rough milk is and what hormones are plugged into the cows to speed production and growth that's why when kiddies were little I never gave them regular on the shelf stuff I did reseaarch and went for organic, grassfed, non-antibiotic treated , non hormone treated milk. We have seen just how ill the kids get if they have regular milk, fevers , diarrhoea etc. I know the body is trying hard to burn off get rid off the poisons in their systems from the milk. When the CJD news came out it just confirm my suspicions that they were feeding bones and meat to veggie cows to cut down costs , I have even read about cement being put into cow feed to again cut costs. No compassion , no milk is probably the best assessment tool.
  17. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh Can I do amritvela even if I haven't slept , my tendency is to do my studies/listening to katha kirtan until late after doing day's tasks , Sometimes it means I reach amritvela without sleep , do I do normal amritvela routine then go sleep ? I know I can't get up after only a couple of hours sleep at that time.
  18. they have no kaam at all, they do not desire contact of any other...where as celibates still have 'urges' from what i have understood
  19. theoretically speaking there is now a third sexuality , asexuality which is becoming an increasing trend in the youth , it has become a problem in some countries like Japan where the aging demographics need supporting by the youngsters. Guru ji has said what is a legitimate marriage , what it appropriate behaviour outside of that , since we all came into this world to put down the five chors and gain mukhti from lakhchaurasi joon ...you pays your price and take the prize, we all have to give up kaam to get anywhere so this is not 'predjudicial' in spiritual terms but from a worldly aspect it may seems so . If there are dusht who are attacking/exploiting the kids they should be put down with extreme predjudice by Sikhs of the Guru, what is this nonsense ?
  20. This is beyond idiotic that means the husband was further away from Guru ji than Bride so where's the equality ? SOmeone seriously needs to sit this couple down before they do themselves an injury and explain piare nal what Anand Karaaj is and what a Sikh's married life is there for i.e. sangat and support to achieve life's true mission apart from bigging herself up for this crazy idea, she claimed that someone had carried out an Anand karaj between two females in Rural Punjab I am totally gobsmacked how it could have happened if it did and why she would take that as an OK to justify her own messed up views
  21. The thing I noted was the womenfolk of the family was like that poster of grandmother daughter granddaughter where the sikhi is degrading Nani was wearing chottey keshki (hijab style) mother coloured hair daughter trimmed hair ... it;s all very well bringing up your kids 'like sons' then why on Earth didn't you manage to teach them SIkhi and to keep a dastar???
  22. Couldn't Guru HarKrishan eye hospital step in and help these people instead of relying on such dodgy mobile doctors?
  23. Unfortunately veera my garden is too small to give enough food or exercise to such a sentient being , but maybe Waheguru kirpa karen later in life I'll have space .
