hindu models/girls learning proper punjabi
MisterrSingh replied to shastarSingh's topic in WHAT'S HAPPENING?
I think that feeds into it, definitely. But then there's the other end of the spectrum whereby creativity is stymied by strict Islamic codes of conduct, which I wouldn't have a problem with if they were halfway intelligent, but when the Quran is your baseline to which everything is adjusted according to its decrees, you're going to end up with a seriously messed up moral value system. -

I've said it before, but somehow Pakistani artistry is leagues beyond the crass, one-dimensional nonsense that passes for entertainment in mainstream India. The amount of Pakistani music plagiarised by Bollywood music directors is evidence enough. -
Helps with soaking up sweat so it doesn't seep through into the shirt, and making an unsightly spectacle. Probably more useful in a hot climate where people start perspiring as soon as they step outside the front door. I don't think it's an issue in colder countries.

Bhangra, giddha, Punjabi culture vs sikhi
MisterrSingh replied to akaaliKhalsa1699's topic in POLITICS | LIFESTYLE
Can you distinguish between a wholesome family gathering around a raging fire in a rustic Punjabi village, and a drug and alcohol-induced gang-bang accompanied to the soulless braying of Sidhu Moosewala in a Canadian nightclub? If both scenarios are indistinguishable to you, I think you may have a problem. Be honest for once and don't backtrack. Admit you made a mistake in understanding what I stated, or just come out and say you want all forms of non-Gurmat activities banned. Be clear with your language. Don't give me a headache with your illiteracy. -
I'm sure a psychologically minded person could write a fascinating essay on this subject, lol.

Akal Takht Jathedar says every Sikh wants Khalistan
MisterrSingh replied to proactive's topic in POLITICS | LIFESTYLE
It depends on the definition of Sikh he's using. I've come across many, many people from Sikh families who despise the Sikh separatist movement. Our leaders should be aware of these issues, and not feign ignorance. -

You certainly don't sugar-coat things. ? In their defense, the younger generation in the large urban centres are a lot better in that regard. They actually seem to be developing a self-deprecating sense of humour, which is interesting. Our Punjabis are still a little behind in that sense. -

I don't know what it is about melodrama that pushes Indian buttons. -

Absolutely. We also need to somehow cultivate Punjabis who will then proceed to appreciate this better art. -
What did the sikh missionaries do?
MisterrSingh replied to Tamansingh123's topic in WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Okay, I get it. I thought the term had been borrowed from Christian missionaries, which didn't seem suitable in our case. It's an obvious subversive organisation sponsored by GOI, one of many. -
Flip me. That's grim. My mum told me that, when she was very young, someone in Punjab fed her family's dog something which had needles and glass in it. My grandfather brought the puppy over from what eventually became Pakistan after partition. It was very old in dog-years at the time of death but it died unnecessarily.

Bhangra, giddha, Punjabi culture vs sikhi
MisterrSingh replied to akaaliKhalsa1699's topic in POLITICS | LIFESTYLE
Spot-on. The problem is these cultural aspects of a people need an organised and underlying civilisational structure, state, nation, etc., for them to be acknowledged as something worthy of respect or value. If not, it just come across as quaintly provincial traits of an unsophisticated tribe. -
Oh yes, I remember. There's nothing really to be disputed about that, not that I'd want to. I'm just concerned about the precedences being set at the moment. Some things can't be rolled back when they've been exposed to air. The mistakes of a few shouldn't be meted out on the blameless majority.

The Saudis have oil (for the moment) that manages to muddy the waters as to their practices of theocratic austerity. What will we offer to keep the wolves from our door? -

Yes, some groups are way more effective at masking their true nature behind a veil of decorum and respectability. -

I wouldn't be so eager to dismiss it. You'd be surprised at the experiences of some people of all races and backgrounds who undergo transformative events that lead them to seek a calling in life. Not everyone is ruled by their desires. For some, duty to a cause is the only thing that matters in life. -
In all seriousness, I'm not recommending the use of a Ouija board. Seriously.

I use to think the obnoxious materialism was perhaps an exclusively Punjabi trait, but having dug a little deeper in recent months, I've realised it's very much an Indian trait regardless of regional geography. It just manifests in different forms according to the common cultural traits of the group in question. Unfortunately for us, it's all-too in your face, and difficult to avoid. -

True say. I also can't stand the excessive clowning around. I have come to value the sombre, authentic village depictions of it, which are comparatively tolerable to, say, the obnoxious diaspora interpretations of it all. -
What did the sikh missionaries do?
MisterrSingh replied to Tamansingh123's topic in WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Never understood why these people are referred to as missionaries. I've come to see them as Sikh secularists; supporting Sikh political and social aims but lacking in the spirituality of the belief system. The term 'missionary' has connotations in the English language that denote something entirely different. -
What was she referring to?

You're really determined to justify everything they're doing with historical precedent? It's certainly something to remember when you're lecturing Sikhs on this forum about how we should view and treat the Mohammadens considering their treatment of us not-so long ago during the reign of their bloodthirsty empire. Good to know.
