I wish it is not directed by Hindu director, if it is then i hope they ask for Manmohan Singh's assistance, who was bollywood's top cinematographer and now directs Panjabi movies, all of Harbhajan Mann's movies are directed by him. Hindu directors mess up the panjabi culture based movies as it was evident is 'Jo bole So Nihal' 'Namaste London' 'Veer Zara' etc.

I personally know at least 7-8 hindu guys who wear karas just to show-off that they are punjabi coz it sounds cool. Some are from Chandigarh and a few from Mumbai and Delhi and say they have Punjabi roots. To me it seems those Hindu individuals are despereate to be proud of something, but they don't have a true religion or a glorious history to be proud of so they just wear Karas to join the Sikh league and instead name it Punjabi. A typical Punjabi Hindu i know wears kara, goes to gurdwara sahib(as he tells us), tries to speak jatt-style pendu punjabi (tho he can't) and never mentions his Hindu stuff coz he's too embarrased to do so among mates but at home he worships his idols and never squanders an opportunity to pass a Sardar Joke or negative comment on Sikhs when among Muslims. Of all Hindus I know wear Karas just to show off that they are Punjabi and don't want to be categorised along with Indians or Gujratis. They are mere show-ponies.

I don't think any person would view Kara as the most important article of faith though it is as important as ay other kakkar but no kakkar has any kind of preference over another. It's not only Kara, Sikhs have fought for turbans and kirpans in the western courts and those cases never changed the public perception that the article concerned is the most important in the faith. If someone percieves in the way you stated then it has to be said that the concerned individual would have to be very ignorant and dumb.

For a moment i thought same as well, why she aint an amritdhari and wearing other Kakkars and yet creating all that noise for wearing a Kara? But in today's world everyone follows their religion to a certain degree. In Sarika's case she is probably not amritdhari or even might not be of religious views but that doesn't disqualify her from wearing her article of faith. For example had the case been in a 'Sikh' court Sarika probably would have lost the case because she doesn't even qualifies as a Sikh coz she aint an Amritdhari but in today's democratic and politically correct world you are what you declare: if she declares she's a Sikh then she is and it's entirely upto her to practise the religion to any amount of degree. Merely not wearing other articles of faith should not disqualify her from wearing Kara. Now this poses another serious question: Should mone an non-amritdharis then be allowed to carry Kirpans? Now Kirpan requires a certain level of responsibility to qualify for its posession, even in Sikhi Kirpan is bestowed upon Sikhs along with a strict rehat and loads of naam simran and bani. Kirpan has a very different purpose than a kara and can't be equated with it. Therefore Kirpan is only Kirpan (Kirpa-aan) if it is carried by a person who adheres to scrictest sikh rehat otherwise a non-practicing person carrying kirpan is literally akinl to a thug carrying knife and is a potential threat to society but not so a person wearing Kara. Hope that clarifies a little bit.

Heartfelt condolences to the family of innocent victims. But every action has a reaction, these attacks i guess were a response to massacre of Muslims in Gujrat as the bombs exploded in the constituency of BJP MLA's including that of chief minister Narendra Modi who's often been accused of being behind Gujrat Massacre of innocent Muslims and playing the Hindutva politics. How could those keep quiet for long time whose brothers set on fire after being locked in train bogeys ans sisters were raped. Though Islamists as ever chose the wrong meduim of avenging the injustice but Brahmins of India should only blame themselves for creating this terrible mess as they carry on to oppress minorities and massacre them and enjoy the fruits of growing India and and on other hand denying justice to torn apart communities by the state-terror.

Your mere willingness to change is a great victory in itself of your mind on the evils. You've clearly sent a messege to 5 evils that you are now awake and no more willing to be be befooled and trapped by them. First of all congrats for that change, as many people blinded by ignorance can never see the reality and feel what they do or think is allright. Secondly i think you should read and more importantly understand bani and keep learning- what a sikh is supposed to do. You will see your thinking and your perception of the world changing, sikhi being the nucleus of you life gradually and things like appereance and stuff taking a backseat. You'll be more in control of yourself which will result in overcoming evils to a greater extent. And as far as only appereance is concerned, staying in circle of Amrithdharis will help coz it won't deter you from being like them and there's more likelihood of emulating them rather than doing that in the company of gore or kale (no offence or pun intended, just trying to be very straightforward). It might be tough if you are very self conscious or self- obsessed, which i admit i was and spent awful lot of time in front of mirror and subsequently recieving friendly banter not only by friends but also by family members. So yeah it will be tough if you fall in same category as mine coz i consider myself as the worst of the cases and if not, then with help of waheguru and with blessings of bani- shabad guru it should be a cakewalk really.

Well, as far as sacred Kara and bottle opening is concerned the writer of the article is very much right. Kara due to our stupid Punjabi youth has been effectively used for opening bottles, like school kids opening bottles of soft drinks and college guys opening bottles of beer and trying to act cool. Kara (and mobile phone, nokia 3310 or 3315) has also been used as handy weapons to hit ppl in head in minor brawls, my friends used them to pretty good effect and did rip open a few heads. But as far as this article, as a whole is concerned i can see where it is coming from. Maybe the Brahmin writer couldn't comprehend another sikh victory in western courts on religious grounds whereas the hindu plea to save the cow 'Shambo' fell on deaf ear and the hindu 'mother' was slaughtered. So thumbs up to Sarika and entire panth as it might well set a precedent in U.K. Oh, and Atul Chatterjee can bang his head in the wall a few times if it helps him. Afterall, his intolerent and jealous Brahmin personality is failing to come to terms with the Sikh victory.

One thing worth noticing is the translation in that news report. Shiva has been translated as God Almighty and not as a hindu diety . To me thats a surprise. As for Dr Manmohan Singh only he knows what's shiva according to his understanding- God Almighty or a hindu diety.

I am not entirely sure here but i think it was in his katha where he was discussing sucha and jootha he mentioned about this and other issues pertainind to food. Why is it that only food cooked only by amritdharis should be eaten? This creates a bit of doubt. Siri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Patshah himself had Gangu Brahmin as his rasoiya (cook). Then why this obligation for sikhs? Bhul Chuk Muaaf

For us i think this had never been the topic of discussion before. Sikhs are bound to be compassionate to lord's creation .Niether we are specifically barred from keeping pets like muslims aint allowed to keep dogs and can eat specific type of meat and consider pig as 'haram' nor we give any special status to any animal like hindus consider cow as their mother or mislims are prescribed to drink camel pi$$ and stuff. As for the muslim reason of not allowing dogs into the house is coz they believe that angels don't enter those houses where dogs reside and also where there are pictures. Dogs are considered impure. Lol ... my musim mate was cussing a gora when he was goin for his namaaz in a hurry and a gora's dog came and started smelling him....and he had to come back home fuming and had to purify himslf by doing their 'wazu' thing and in the process missed out going to mosque as he was already late. Its not the law that we must remove the Kirpan. The Sikhs had obtained written permission to hand in the Memorandum to 10 Downing Street wearing their Kirpans. Some of the same people have also compromised Sikhs in the last couple of years when going to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Some of them just do not understand the value and importance of the Kirpan. They were at the UN again on 10 June - hopefully someone will report who and how many removed their Kipans. O ne was i think some World Religions Summint Kinda ting in America. But the point i want to make is on one hand Sikhs are striving to making kirpan acceptable and refusing to attend even if they are not allowed to enter while wearing them on whereas on other hand we have these kind of people who have no objection and voluntarily remove their kirpans as if it's not at all an issue. Trust me these guys are nearly nullifying the fight being put by singhs in other countries. If this dangerous trend continues days are nearer when amritdhari singhs those who refuse to removetheir kirpans will be called extremist amritdhari whereas those cats removing kirpans voluntarily will be labelles as liberal Amritdharis and we can't blame media then, its our own people who are giving birth to such controversies which at this stage our panth can ill-afford. There should be one united stand based on gurmat principles.

I feel it's a very tricky situation. Hasn't our religion given us full freedon of speech? If yes why can't we debate such contentious issues be it gurmat or gurbani. I doubt if Guru Sahibans would have themselves passed such hukamnamas asking sangat to shut their mouths. To me it's pity that even so called Jathedars have also failed to understand the principles of Sikhi. Yes, they can issue hukamnamas regarding those people using bad language for bani or indulging in nindya but banning even healthy debates to me seems nothing short of dictatorship afterall those questioning dasam bani have valid points as well. This is like adding insult to injury. Seeing a child growing up and in the middle of youth is pleasing for every parent. And when you have your 19 yr old young son not returning home and instead disaapearing is indeed like a trauma for those parents. And later finding out that he was murdered for being a sikh and it would yield promotions to the police officers is the worst abuse of power justifying that there was no fear at that time in illegally killing a sikh child in fact it brought them laurels and rewards. As for the above link you gave, this is nothing new in the modern world. People change their religions. There are thousands of christians in western world who are moving away from christianity. In fact, majority of people converting to islam are christians. And as for Jesus there are different views in christianity itself. Some say jesus is god, some say son of god.... seems even christians cant make up their minds on Jesus, not only on Jesus but on a lot of topics. To be honest i don't see these ancient religions taking this world anywhere. The staunch followes of Abrahmic religions have only plunged this world into darkness and destruction by their jealous atrocious ludicrous and egoistic ideologies which consider only them to be true and others to be false and worthy of rotting in the hell. And at the same time these ideologies have denigrated women. A lot of blame is put on Islam and islamic ideology which to a lot of extent is right but the people who blame islam forget that the ideology they propogate is even more outdated than the one they oppose. These videos are so hard to watch for the simple fact that they are a bundle of lies and concocted stories. Makes my blood boil.
