  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8039526.stm Huge blaze destroys Sikh temple More than 70 firefighters tackled a blaze that destroyed a Sikh temple in Greater Manchester. The blaze ripped through a multi-use building in the Strangeways area of Cheetham Hill at 2330 BST on Wednesday. The ground floor offices and the first floor, which was home to the temple, were gutted in the fire. Firefighters tackled the blaze throughout the night. An investigation is under way but the fire is not thought to be suspicious. A fire service spokeswoman said: "There was a partial collapse in the first floor ceiling and firefighters had to enter the building wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze." Bury Road is closed while crews dampen the blaze down. Any news??

  3. Would we as individuals use the basement as our rooms? Of course not, so why would you do Parkash of the King of Kings in such a place. Taken from "GurBani Da Adab" (Respecting Gurbani) "In Houses the Parkash or accomodation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib should not take place under stairs or in tight confined spaces. In this way there is terrible disrespect and a lot of sins are accumulated. For this reason any brothers or sisters who want to have Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji's divine presence in their homes must ensure they have beautiful, clean, ventilated room available." Bare this in mind.."The souls of shaheed Singhs stay on guard in the Lotus charan of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to keep teh respect and worship of the Guru of all Guru's, The Saint of all Saints. The Shaheed Singhs souls are quick to help those beloved people who maintain the respect, worship and beleif in Guru Sahib Ji"

  5. According to Gurmat both the bride and groom should be Amritdharee, follow rehat, recite nitnem. BHai Sahib Singh Ji's rehatnama p.160, " Guru Gobind Singh Jee says that the Sikh who marrys to a Sikh and does not take any money, he is a true sikh of mine and will reach my abode in Sachkand" So it does matter, very much that he is not a Sikh (regardless if he is a "punjabi" or Christian). Firstly it defies te Akal Thakat, secondly what is the point of a Gurmat ceremony if your not a sikh, do not beleive in the Guru, and do not live in the way Guru Ji has told us to. By Having the Anand Karaj you are beginging your "married" life with a lie and an insult to the Guru. As a general point grroms will grow their kesh tie a dastar appear in Maharaj's hazoori and then cut it off. Who are these people trying to fool? Guru Ji knows all, and if anything it is an insult to Guru Amar Das Ji.

  11. The average US salary in 2002 was $36,764 (source U.S. Department of Labor). If anything we should be graetful for such people who could earn 5 times as much with the skills they have and yet are using them for seva.
  12. A hypocrit is a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion. If one is not prepared to follow the hukam, and take Amrit and keep rehat then they cannot lead the reading of Gurbani or preform keertan in the sangat. What next... Can non amritdharies be in the panj pyare.
