i think the patka is a new thing. you dont have to tie great big dumalas on little kids, u can tie a nice secure small keski on younger kids. however, for the men who are like over 16 and wear patka, i think its not as simple as 'you have a dhaara, u look silly, wear a dastaar instead' i know someone who was in this position, they didnt want to wear a dastaar yet, becuase they thought it came with responsibility, as they would be representing the image of a singh. they thought they wernt 'really that much into ther sikhi' at tht point in ther lives, BUT still wanted to keep ther kesh, so they opted for the patka. im not saying its right, i just think theres more to these issues, rather than just pointing ur finger and saying 'they look stupid, they should wear a dastaar' gurfateh jee

i agree with 'miri piri' especially the bit wer se sed wen parents give out punishment its nearly always ther karodh contributin to the punishment. i was hit a few times wen i was younger, it just made me worse lol. u cant hit kids its just mean, and everyone says well if ther your own kids it dont mater... no way, if i had kids i'd never hit them. if they played up alot id have to think of a suitable way of punishing them. if a kid does summit rong and u just give them a few slaps, then wat? u havent explained to the kid, wat was rong, chances are they'll just to it agen. im sure ther are alternative ways of installing discipline without the need of violence.

Lol, no it would say anthing about this issue in the guru granth sahib jee. i think its a minor issue, and up 2 the people involved. generally we say the boy should be 2 or three years older, or at least older than the girl. because boys take a VERY long time to mature. and us girls mature way quicker i dont see a problem in the girl being a bit older than the singh. i would say the girl being 4/5 years older is quite a considerable age gap, but agen its up 2 u. i know of adults wer the bibi is 6years older than her husband, and ther fine. the main thing wen ur lukin for a partner is the jeevan, and the aim to help each other with sikhi. age/looks/job, are all minor things.
