  1. From what I've read on his Facebook page he was wearing a patka, people get kicked out of the early camping line all the time at Wimbledon, i find it sad that the moment a "brown" person is involved the race card is played immediately plus this fella isn't willing to give his real name, i'd love to hear the actual turn of events that led to him being evicted, Wimbledon isn't some two bit organisation, they are a huge company with a reputation to protect.
  2. Yes it is, bring back the Empire i say, that'll teach them.
  3. Oh indeed, but they are going to drag it out, i'd be surprised if they initiate it this year. Which passport, the little red one's are European so i guess they'll have to replace them as well but yeah, might as well prepare for the under-educated belly button that is "Great Britain" that voted leave to rear it's ugly head and teach those youngsters who never faced any racism what the 70's and 80's were like, good times ahead everybody.
  4. I don't understand why anybody is at all surprised by this, a lot of people who voted to leave did so on the basis of immigration and a fair few of these people see anyone who is non-white (as in no white and born in the UK) as an immigrant so you best be carrying you birth certificate around with you now fella's, you gonna be needing it.
  5. Ummm, yeah, no, i think you'll find we're still "European" for another few years yet, even when Article 50 is activated we're still in the "EU" for another 24 month's and when (and if) we finally exit the EU the UK as a land mass is still apart of the European Continent (geographically speaking of course) so can still be classed as "European".
  6. The Nihangs i know are UK based but two of them are from Hazur Sahib and even they have never eaten meat, maybe it's just a personal choice for them.
  7. Lol, too old to be an internet warrior i'm afraid, just an old fashioned Sikh who keep's himself to himself. I actually do know a few Nihangs and none of them eat meat(that i know of).
  8. Okay, I think i'll keep my old fashioned views to myself then, you know, the one where taking amrit means you don't eat meat.
  9. Great stuff, glad he's helping the youth but this (highlighted in bold), how on earth can you be an Amritdhari and eat meat sometime's, have i missed something in my near 40 year's on this planet.
  10. Bush is on facebook, this is his public link: https://www.facebook.com/gurcharan.singh.9237244
  11. This, nail well and truly hit on the head. Why oh why do we always assume a person with a Punjabi surname represents the Sikh community. I know a few white folk with traditional Christian surnames yet none of them are religious.
  12. This is probably a long shot but does anyone know if Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Rara Sahib ever did a katha about the meaning of Japji Sahib, my aunt swear's she had a tape of him going through the Japji Sahib and explaining what each part meant, i know Giani Sant Singh Ji Maskeen did it as well as a few other's but have never heard of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji doing it, can anyone shed any light on this.
  13. If that's a woman I'd avoid that part of town, never know what else you might find down there.
  14. Don't hold back now, i take it you don't like him very much then.....
  15. Maybe because it's easier to rhyme with Diwali, you know, like Kali Diwali......Anyway, Happy Bandi Chhor Divas to all.
  16. We Sikhs have a begging bowl mentality, this us another example of it, the most ironic thing of all was that the day before the protest the Met police were on the news asking for more minorities to join, way to go, join the police brown folk and you to will get the opportunity to randomly offend people of other religions because you couldn't be bothered to educate yourselves about what the law say's. At least they apologised, try and get Punjab police to say sorry, you'll end up in Central Jail for 25 years.....
  17. Have to agree, I can understand the anger and frustration of Sikh's outside of India but protesting outside the Indian Embassy will achieve next to nothing, they don't care about anything at the best of times. Sikh's here in the UK took issue with the BBC (and other media outlets) for not reporting on what was going on in the Punjab then wouldn't it have made sense to protest outside of the BBC headquarters and give Sky News a ring (seeing as there is no love lost between the two) and get your point across. After watching some of the video's from yesterday i do agree that the police were heavy handed but what these protesters have done is basically ripped up the reputation Sikhs have made for themselves in the UK, the actions of people today affect the future of those who grow up tomorrow. Anger won't solve any problem's in Punjab, what's going on over there is a huge political game, having a mis-guided protest here in the UK which ended in Sikh's getting arrested won't solve anything, all it has done is bring negative publicity upon our community.
  18. Vice have done an article: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/jagmeet-singh-interview-289 And it would appear the BBC have been forced into writing a somewhat more informative article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-34578463
  19. It's posted as a blog piece not a news piece, the BBC are obliged to explain whenever there is any kid of "disturbance" during a broadcast, if you read it it just explains what happened, some might say it's better than nothing, it's all over my social media feed with people saying "we've done it" but to me it just show's the begging bowl mentality that many Sikh's have and how they have been taken advantage of. Like i've already said, we shouldn't be targeting people like the BBC, we should be going after online news sites that have a far greater reach and for the love of god we need to stop begging people to help us, we are more than capable of doing that ourselves.
  20. Having coverage from sites like Vice is worth a lot more than news organisations like the BBC or ITN (according to her twitter feed they are putting up an article this afternoon). You have to remember the way we digest news has changed a lot over the years, viewing figures for the BBC have gone down in comparison to online only organisations, another thing to bear in mind is the upcoming visit by Modi to the UK, no mainstream news organisation like the BBC is going to want to report anything that makes him look bad as they probably have already pre-booked interviews.
  21. Absolutely and utterly ridiculous that these clowns are allowed to make any decisions at all let alone have any say in how the Sikh religion goes forward, it took them over 3 weeks and objections from pretty much every Sikh organisation worldwide to realise that they really haven't got a clue about anything.
  22. The thing is he works for what is essentially still a publicly funded organisation and it's not the first time he's opened his mouth like this, had he or his bedfellow Nihal made the same comments about the Muslim community they would have been out of a job a long time ago, even more disappointing is the fact the Friction is actually from a Sikh family and has no grasp of what his religion teaches (whether he practises it or not is irrelevant). It's fine saying let the idiots speak but the problem is this particular <banned word filter activated> has a public platform, he has over 30k followers on twitter so any statement he makes will reach a wide audience, he made a statement on Facebook yesterday explaining his comment and how he should be allowed to express his views on his own private Facebook account, i agree with that but it doesn't mean you loose all your common sense when making comments. I don't really understand why people are calling for him to be sacked but i do think he needs to apologise for comparing those who stopped the wedding to the Taliban.
  23. What this man said, also, i get really worried when people say issues like this should be sorted out within the community, they shouldn't, if someone is accused of a crime then it should be investigated by the proper authorities not a bunch of white bearded old cronies who's only interest is how fast the golak wil fill up. As for stuff like the "mouth to mouth simran" and the rest of it, i think we go some real issues up in our community if this sort of stuff is going on but the problem is we have no authority in place to sort it out.
  24. You've just summed up the problem in your first sentence, I'm sure if the Guru's had your attitude then they wouldn't have gone out of their way to help half the people they did, they would have just seen them as lost causes. Let me put this into context for you, I go out every Saturday evening to feed the homeless with a well known Sikh charity, most of them are, as you have put it, lost causes, they are addicted to drugs and alcohol and well never turn their lives around no matter how much they say they will, if i applied your logic to this situation they don't deserve me wasting my time over them because they will never change in the same way we shouldn't waste our time on people because they don't want to take Amrit. On the topic at hand, Islam is a number's game (I'm sure it's been discussed to death on these forums before), if a person from a Sikh family decides to convert to another religion, regardless of the whether they have taken Amrit or not, it's your responsibility to ask them why, you don't turn the other cheek because you think it's a waste of time, something has gone wrong in that person's life where they have lost faith and decided the grass is greener on the other side. I'm not a Liberal Sikh neither am i some hardcore nut-job, i'm just a grown up man and father who worries about his children's future, i try my best on a daily basis to teach them what Sikhism is, teach them about our Guru's and the lives they led and the sacrifices they made but my job is made a lot harder with attitudes like your's on the loose.
  25. Honesty is in the eye of the beholder so i'm only as honest as you assume i am, Shivteg Singh, all i know about him is what i read in the press, that he got caught out behind closed door with a married woman and they weren't playing Monopoly, what relevance it has to to my original post, who know's.
