  1. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh bhaji 'har ka daas' i apologise for the previous long winded post i guess the question i was trying to ask was - should we be/is it ok to write about akaal purkh by describing him and his kala? I think it's ok to write about history and worldly things but i was wondering unless you have realised akaal purkh should we be writing our own 'bani' about him. As guru ji says: ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਚੀ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ Without the True Guru, other songs are false. The songs are false without the True Guru; all other songs are false. The speakers are false, and the listeners are false; those who speak and recite are false. They may continually chant, 'Har, Har' with their tongues, but they do not know what they are saying. Their consciousness is lured by Maya; they are just reciting mechanically. Says Nanak, without the True Guru, other songs are false. ||24|| i apologise if i'm wrong, i just don't know. sangat bakhshan yog hai bakhash laina. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh
  2. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh yeah i kinda know what you mean. i was like that about 5/6 years ago. But that was before i discovered metha. You really just have to hold on, if you're in early teens don't worry it's totally natural. And if you're amritdhari then keep strong in your rehit. even if you're not do naam simran and try to get yourself to kirtan darbars, rainsabai's awesome, uplifting and you can forget your troubles for a while and maybe meet other sikhs to lift you and help you. If you're not sikh then can i ask wat you are? Also your problems in everyday life try to confront them or work through them and try to be disciplined in life - and yeah that is really hard especially if your parents haven't kept you disciplined but just try and always remember god, give yourself to him and he will NEVER let you down. well babbeling as always like an <banned word filter activated> but i hope it helps a little and this from the 5th guru, guru arjan dev ji: ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ The Creator has brought utter peace to my home; the fever has left my family. The Perfect Guru has saved us. I sought the Sanctuary of the True Lord. The Transcendent Lord Himself has become my Protector. Tranquility, intuitive peace and poise welled up in an instant, and my mind was comforted forever. ||Pause|| Vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh
  3. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh, Although it seems that way, i wasn't trying to get the thread stopped or anything i just wanted to find out for my personal peace of mind, how is peotry okay. Yes it is inspriring to those who are younger, or don't understand or read gurbaani that well but could something like this(and countless other quotes) not be posted: True, True, True is God, our Lord and Master. By Guru's Grace, some speak of Him. True, True, True is the Creator of all. Out of millions, scarcely anyone knows Him. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful is Your Sublime Form. You are Exquisitely Beautiful, Infinite and Incomparable. Pure, Pure, Pure is the Word of Your Bani, heard in each and every heart, spoken to the ears. Holy, Holy, Holy and Sublimely Pure - chant the Naam, O Nanak, with heart-felt love. ||8||12|| Again, i'm sorry i know this looks like i'm saying no you're wrong, don't write poetry cause look what the guru ji's already did. BUT I'M NOT i don't really have a way with words i'm not that gifted, but in my own foolish way i'm just trying to debate and actually, hopefully, get someone to prove that it's okay to write your own poetry. Again this is for my peace of mind, i went to sikhpoems.com and read a random poem (tera darbar), but again it seemed to me like something the guru ji's already wrote in gurbaani and this was a person writing it in his/her own words which is where i notably have a slight problem. At the same time i feel bad because i can understand where people are coming from but to an igorant person like me it just seems like - there are english translations/meaning of gurbaani all over the web which sound similar and yet other poems are being written. I'm really sorry if i've offended anyone who feels strongly about writing poems i don't mean to throw a dampner on things, as i say i just want to clear some things up. I actually think it's okay to write poetry about our history and stuff like dhadhi's do, i just can't get my head around making a reference to akaal purkh or his kala in your own poetry (probably cause my understanding is pretty poor). Could i have your views on that please and again i apologise if i've offended anyone with my koarre bol sangat bakhshan yog hai bakhash laina. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
  4. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh and did you see the vids on the side it was all punjabi this and that and then he had a 'rehras sahib marayada sri hazur sahib' thrown in. that's the problem nowadays people think punjabi culture and sikhi culture is basically the same but they're completely different sikhs have a different culture different way of life and there are many unfortunate people like these (tooooooooooooooooooo many) who are mixed up. i apologise if i offended anyone but some things have to be said. sangat bukhshan yog hai Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
  5. and as for the eyewitness account some say it exists some say it doesn't i think it's it's irrelevant from what i said before. But basically if it exists and is real it's would put the matter 'almost' beyond question to those who do not believe in the events of 1699. If it doesn't exist then it's irrelevant and i'd ask someone...(above qoute). Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki fateh.
  6. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh i don't think they have a website because a lot can be traced and website would have to contain a lot of info they're just trying to do direct parchaar to sikhs and not expose themselves i know they try not to let people take pictures and stuff. but i dont know for sure. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh Mod note: Due to the sensitive nature of the parchaar they do, rather than discussing it on a public forum please ask questions by contacting Sikh Awareness Society via pm.
  7. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh i would write poetry but somehow, i personally, don't feel it's right to write such things and do vaheguru's upma because guru ji has already done it in gurbaani and so how can we find words to describe vaheguru when guru ji has used every word possible and they were as one with vaheguru. Guru gobind singh ji wrote akaal ustat a whole bani just to praise vaheguru and vaheguru is described and praised throughout bani so i would rather qoute gurbaani and let people read it like: ਪੰਨਾ 837, ਸਤਰ 9 ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹੀ ॥ I cannot express the Praises of my God; I cannot express His Praises. His Praises cannot be spoken; What Glories of Yours can be chanted? He is so All-powerful, that I cannot even describe Him; no one can chant His Praises. ||2|| and where guru ji says sing the lord's praises i reckon it means through gurbaani. I don't know if the poetry here is from guru ji or people write it themselves but that's what i think anyway. I'm most probably wrong and can someone justify or explain why it's ok to make your own poetry about Vaheguru cause i don't really know anything i just try and show what bani saying but i usually get that wrong as well. so i apologise if i've offended anyone or said anything wrong i am sorry sangat bukhshan yog hai bakhash laina Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
  8. its that sort of thinknig sweeping things udner the carpet because we cant be bothered to tackle the situation that is bringing the panth down we need to tackle this situation head on. Guru Sahib fought agaisnt tyranny yes ... but is this not tyranny? Some people like to live in their own make believe world that there is such a thing as a moderate Islam and that the fanatics don't understand their religion which is a religion of 'peace' look at any newspaper on any given day and you will see how peaceful their religion is. Apologies to those of a nervous disposition but the fanatics are the real Muslims who live according to the quran and the hadiths. http://sikhissues.blogspot.com/ this is the only thing i could find on the Sikh Awareness Society they're doing lots of work on this issue and they're the ones mainly giving speeches on only this sort of thing and making people aware. just thought i'd post it for you guys to have a look at. and this site highlights all the main issues (a link from the above) http://www.whyichosesikhism.com/?p=know and i was looking through 'something' about 'a certain group' and found ''brahm vidhyas'' avataar. I don't quite get 'you lot', whichever part i'm referring to. i don't even know, thats how confusing it is but basically 'they' believe in baba sri chand guru nanak dev ji's son, who i thought did not get the gurgudhi because they according to guru ji were not worthy, but not really according to these guys??????????????????? i know it's a bit confusing but take a look at this and the pages at the bottom of the site. again found this content from the blogspot http://www.<banned site filter activated>/htmls/sikh_udhasi.html sorry really badly sidetracked but i partly agree with what brahm vidya and proactive have said in reply to bhain ji but i do think proactives gone a little bit ott to make his/her point and i don't think we should be dissing all of islam or any religion especially as we are not experts on them and we do not know about the different factions - like in sikhism, unfortunately, there could be loads. And where u've said (above in bold) 'peace' etc well guru nanak dev ji says: ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ It is difficult to be called a Muslim; if one is truly a Muslim, then he may be called one. First, let him savor the religion of the Prophet as sweet; then, let his pride of his possessions be scraped away. Becoming a true Muslim, a disciple of the faith of Mohammed, let him put aside the delusion of death and life. As he submits to God's Will, and surrenders to the Creator, he is rid of selfishness and conceit. And when, O Nanak, he is merciful to all beings, only then shall he be called a Muslim. ||1|| Anyway just look through the site if you have time. forgive if i have offended anyone or said something against gurmat i don't know wat i'm on about half the time so sangat bakhshan yog hai maaf karna Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
  9. yeah i'm in two minds either goin mehta in the summer or to sodhi ji in tracey. I think sodhi ji is at mehta right now so thts wikid tht ur mates r their.
  10. vaheguroo ji ka khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh i was unaware of 'stages' as well and i read something a while back on sikhsoul.com about it http://singh.sikhsoul.com/archives/jan07.html#gofnaam its from the bottom to the top tell by the dates... i reckon you could probably find some katha on naam japna and the stages if there are any to be more concrete as the author has only taken extracts of bani but they do not sa anything about 'stages',or ask mahapurash. but really if you just read and undrstand bani thts all u need. and i guess the 'stages' are there from those pungateean where first you are blessed and find naam to eventually : ਪੰਨਾ 1212, ਸਤਰ 10 ਜੇਤੇ ਸਾਸ ਸਾਸ ਹਮ ਲੇਤੇ ਤੇਤੇ ਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥ जेते सास सास हम लेते तेते ही गुण गाइआ ॥ jaytay saas saas ham laytay taytay hee gun gaa-i-aa. With each and every breath I take, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. 5 thats my litle view forgive me if i said anything wrong sangat bukhshun yog hai vaheguroo ji ka khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh
  11. having read the bit at the top 'about the author' i'm really surprised. I can't think who he was reffering to when he said 'we celebrate...', i know a lot of amritdhari sikhs and i'm sure sikhs all over the world knnow about the 2 different purabs. I've never known any amrit dhari's to be confused over the 2 purabs is he refering to those who aren't amrit dhari or a few people tht he spoke to and don't know about the history or are kache singhs like me. But i guess that's just narrow minded me guess it goes down to lack of education in our history. it would be nice to get some views froms people on here on whether they knew or not. again i'm just an <banned word filter activated> really with too much hunkar i hope the sangat can forgive me if i said anything wrong and help me become humble like themselves. vaheguroo ji ka khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh
  12. [/font][/b] Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa Vaheuroo ji ki fateh forgive me if i'm wrong but i believe that we celebrated what is known as pehla prakash (which is when guru arjan dev ji had pothi prakash done for the first time). this is in bhadon 1604 celebrated on 1st september and it was 400yrs of pehla parkash. The writer says we it's not a celebration of guru granth sahib ji and he is correct by this he obviously means celebrating guru gadhi to guru granth sahib ji which was kathik 1708 celebrated on 20th october. As you can see bhain ji the two dates are completely different and to my knowledge there's no real confusion betwen the two. It seems the writer himself has not done his research and like me he's written something which makes you think and creates some confusion when there is none it's only there because of the aricle itself. From the dates themselves it's quite clear we celebrated 400yrs of pehla prakash and not gurta gadhi. i apologise if i wrote something stupid bhul chuk maaf karni sangat bakhshan yog hai, Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa Vaheuroo ji ki fateh
  13. saee(n) meea(n) meer wasn't a converted muslim but was a man of god who had absolute faith in guru ji and laid the foundation stone of harimander sahib i reckon you probably knew that but just in case (forgive my ignorance)
  14. congradulations, you've probably picked one by now but anyway here goes miljot manraj manmohan manjeet milaap meva
  15. Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki fateh. IT'S A BIT LONG I APPOLOGISE IN ADVANCE I HOPE IT'S NOT A LOAD OF RUBBISH for those of you who don't believe that guru ji took 5 heads and bought the panj piyare back to life why not ask a well recognised giani. I'm sure jassa would have the number for mehta (i think sodhi ji is there or are going there on the 18th so might still be in usa), in which case i would wait cos they will give you the answer straight up. Like we were doing santhia with them and a bhujungi singh asked them are sant jarnail singh ji bhindravale shaheed and sodhi ji gave a direct answer saying yes, they became shaheed in front of the flags of akal takht sahib. And i'm sure singhs on here know who sodhi ji is and know that they are on another level. Also giani pritam singh ji (damdami taksal) now in southall would also give you a good answer which i hope you would be able to trust. Giani takhur singh ji damdami taksal is another one and i'm sure you know others who are not from the taksal unfortunately i don't know any well enough to comment so i apologise and forgive me if anyone is offended. and whatever answer is given by the aforementioned i hope you will be able to say satbachan and accept it. From what very little budhi i have i would have to say; if 5 heads were not taken then only the amrit sanchar would've taken place and no such story would have occured and since there is a story there must be some truth. Also since the 'widely' believed version is that guru ji took 5 heads you would have to edge towards it as it was 'only' 300 odd years ago. and many of the battles the guru jis fought do not have accounts written about them but a lot is still known so there doesnt necessarily have to be a writen account of vaisakhi 1699. also 'apparently' guru ji said he would sacrifice his family when asked for his head. and after taking amrit he gave 5 heads - 4 sahibzaade and mata ji. Was that such a coincedence. Guru ji's mehl did not become shaheed at the hands of the mughals and that could've easily happened??? Anyway i hope you ask someone you believe to be of an adequate level of spirituality if you can find them and then, whatever the answer maybe, i hope you can accept it and tell everyone else that you asked so and so and the answer you were given was this and that is what you now believe. But i reckon it comes down to faith, though i do not doubt yours. As it says in jap ji sahib about creation; What was that time, and what was that moment? What was that day, and what was that date? What was that season, and what was that month, when the Universe was created? The Pandits, the religious scholars, cannot find that time, even if it is written in the Puraanas. That time is not known to the Qazis, who study the Koran. The day and the date are not known to the Yogis, nor is the month or the season. The Creator who created this creation-only He Himself knows. How can we speak of Him? How can we praise Him? How can we describe Him? How can we know Him? O Nanak, everyone speaks of Him, each one wiser than the rest. Great is the Master, Great is His Name. Whatever happens is according to His Will. O Nanak, one who claims to know everything shall not be decorated in the world hereafter. ||21|| I do not aim any of this passage as a dig at you but it is only an example to try and validate my point of view. Please, if i have offended anyone sangat bakhshan yog hai bakhash laina. Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa Vaheguroo ji ki fateh.
  16. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Actually this quote, really means the opposite of "you must wear turbans". Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! i see what you are saying but i think the tuk has been slightly mistranslated. it should be as follows: … "…complete form is with turban donned." (SGGSJ Ang 1084) but here is what you are looking for: ਜੋ ਪਗ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਸੀ ਰਖੇ ਸੋ ਤਨਖਾਹੀਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਰੋਜ਼ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਜਾਵੇ। "One who does not tie a fresh turban is liable for penalty. For this reason it is mandatory for every Sikh of the Guru to tie a turban everyday." (Rehitnama Bhai Chaupa Singh jee) bukhsh laina sangat bukhshun yog hai.
  17. i believe at this point the panj piyare said we have given 5 heads, what will our guru give. The guru replied i will sacrifice my family. By hen they had already sacrificed their father guru teg bahadur ji and after they took amrit they sacrificed 4 sahebjaade and mata gujri ji. This is why they are known as sarbans dani. dhan dhan guru gobind singh ji. vaheguroo bakhash laina. If i have offended anyone Bhul chuk maaf kaarni sangat bukhshun yog hai bukhsh laina.
  18. Hello Cartman, Are you saying the Guru performed a Miracle by decapitating the five beloved? If so was this reflective of The Gurus way? What do you think? Vaheguroo ji ka khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh veer ji you, i believe, are implying by the above that the gurus did not perform miracles. I am sure there are many sakhis that you know of where gurus have performed miracles. The gurus never performed miracles for their own needs or to please others. When the guru jis performed miracles it was vaheguroo's way and when they refused it was also vaheguroo's way. There are countless miracles performed by our first guru. Like when they were working in fields and then when they were working at the mandi and when they went to mecca and kurkshetra and countless other places. I'm not sure about the eye-witness passage where it says guru ji took 5 heads IN FRONT of EVERYONE. I was taught that they done this in a tent. but they may have done it infront of the sangat you would have to ask a giani who would give you the answer you've always been taught. I'm sure you could ask people like sodhi ji, giani thakur singh ji and many others. But nevertheless the debate was to do with performing miracles i hope that, from what little knowledge i have, i have in someway helped you answer your question. If i have offended anyone Bhul chuk maaf kaarni sangat bukhshun yog hai bukhsh laina.
  19. ਪੰਨਾ 1084, ਸਤਰ 9 ਨਾਪਾਕ ਪਾਕੁ ਕਰਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਹਦੀਸਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਸੂਰਤਿ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਿਰਾ ॥੧੨॥ नापाक पाकु करि हदूरि हदीसा साबत सूरति दसतार सिरा ॥१२॥ naapaak paak kar hadoor hadeesaa saabat soorat dastaar siraa. ||12|| Purify what is impure, and let the Lord's Presence be your religious tradition. Let your total awareness be the turban on your head. ||12|| ਮਃ 5
  20. Does the air around you have a colour - no can you see it - no, when you look 'out' the window you see whats on the other side
  21. thats how bad it is i mean first off all like everyones said he shouldn't be going there anyway but the thing is he honestly thinks its absolutely fine and so do his parents that they're making a case out of it. Why is he wearing a turban or even more so how and why has he kept his kes with habits and parents like that. If only he was able to attain satsangat he'd still have a chance...
  22. it's colourless. you see the colours reflected in the mirror perfectly. As they're not changed the mirror is colourless. I hope that answered your somewhat peculiar question.
