  1. Dear SOSGGSJ, The gurbani tuk u mentioned is not prescribed for Sikhs by Pancham Patshah. This tuk is in reference to muslims. Please do not misinterpret Gurbani (sometimes I also do that by mistake).please read the full shabad to understand the context. Once a bhen ji also mentioned this tuk on sikhnet , but one Sikh pointed it out.thats why it just came to my mind. Regarding uncut hair, there is a reference in Gyan Ratnavali by Bhai Mani Singh that Guru Nanak asked Mardana for 3 things: 1. Donot disrespect ur hair( keep umm uncut) 2. Rise in amritvela. 3. Share ur earnings. So tradition was from first Nanak.Tenth Nanak just formalized this thing. Keeping kesh was NOT AT ALL an issue that time(1699) because people were already into it. Well...I never found any reference for the guru ji's motive for creating a "seprate identity" in any of his bani. Can anyone plz gimme some reference for the above thing. I hope this will help
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! WWW.BURNINGPUNJAB.COM was a great work.It is now banned by Indian Government. Can we all do something to make this site working again.Or can we get the material of the site by exploiting our links and publish that material under some different name? This will be gr8 seva guyz. Please come forward if u have any idea how to make this possible.
  3. There is a difference in translation.I am not very proficient in Gurbani so can't say anything.I took the translation from Macauliff's book, which I think is considered authentic except very few 'not so authentic' things. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  4. I am proud of you Rochak SINGH ji.You have done what most of our brothers dont dare to do.Your courage is a gr8 example for all those who are just :T: of doin it.You are looking so amazing ...a true son of Guru Gobind Singh ji. You have set an example. I will quote u whenever people will ask me abt the power of devotion to the Guru.I cant explain in words, how amazing u r lookin.May Guru ji bless you with amrit pretty soon. I am really really proud of you. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I asked this question from a learned Sikh who gave me a nice explanation for this query. In vachitra Natak Guru Gobind Singh ji stated that he is here for a special purpose. He told us: "I tell the world only what my God said to me, for I will not be silenced through fear of the mere mortals. I utter as is the Instruction of my God, for I consider no one greater than Him" Therefore Guru Gobind Singh's bani is full of a mission and God's praises. In his bani he told us why he came to this world and his mission. Therefore bani of tenth Nanak(Guru Gobind Singh) is different from first nine Nanaks. But the message is same and came out much stronger that WE ALL SHOULD WORSHIP ONLY ONE GOD. Now the question here was my total misunderstanding of the 'dohra'.Here 'GOBIND' DOES NOT mean Guru Gobind Singh. Here it means GOBIND the almighty.Thats why the line goes like "gobind DASS tohar" i.e. servernt of GOD(GOBIND). Rest in SGGS it is beleived that Guru ji has 2-3 lines in Shlok Mehl 9 where he used 'NANAK' ,as used by other Nanaks. Thnks for ur input and I m sorry for misinterpretation of Gurbani. I hope this will help
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Well I asked this question from few learned Sikhs and they gave me a very nice explanation of this thing. They told me that everybdy is at the same level. That means anybdy can become Demigod, goddess or can reach its spirtual peak.Guru Gobind Singh ji proved it by asking for Amrit frm Panj Pyare.Guru ji became the devoutee and panj pyare became the Guru.Guru ji proved this point that with good deeds and full devotion anybdy can become Guru or equal to Guru. He then told me that every messenger who came to earth (like Ram, Krishen, Shiv ,Durga etc ) defended the justice by the power of Sword.Like Ram got Sita with Sword.Pandavs won only with the grace of Sword etc etc.He then told me that every person who came from God (as messenger)had Kesh and Sashtar with umm(like ram with danush baan, krishen with chakkar, shiv with trishul, durga with sword). They had to use sashtars for gettin their right and justice. That is what Guru ji told us.As Guru ji said "Khalsa Akal Purakh ki Fauj" that means he gave Khalsa a "ROOP" which is similar to all those messengers.Khalsa is equal to all those messengers.Guru ji demostrated this thing by takin amrit from panj pyare and makin them guru. So we have to have Kesh and Saashtar.Khalsas life will not be easy as life of all those messengers was not easy. All those messengers fought for justice and khalsa should also fight for justice. thats why guru ji told us first bow before that 'shakti' that is sword.Guru Ji gave us such a great supreme status that we should be thankful to him. Guru Gobind Singh theory for every aspect of life is gr8. < img src='http://forums.waheguroo.com/html/emoticons/mellow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mellow.gif'>
  7. You are right here but a little correction is : Pritam =first Bhaugati = Almighty's prowess Thnx. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  8. Thanks for ur input. There are 2 views, some people say Bhaugauti is sword and other saying Bhaugauti is God.The translation I m refering to is from renowned author Macauliff.he translated it as: "Having first remembered the SWORD, meditate on Guru Nanak." I have seen few other instances in guru ji's bani where he mentioned Bhaugauti and sword in same context.Like he said in 'Bhaugauti ki vaar': "Lai Bhaugauti durg shah". Which means "durga took up the sword" where Bhaugauti=Sword( I also took this thing frm Macauliff book, which is considered as authority in Sikh History). Guru ji called Sword by Bhaugauti 4-5 times in his bani (as far as I read). There is one other instance in SGGS: "Bhaugauti mudra man mohiya maya" Which means "man wears God's mark(like Hindu tilak or Sikh religious marks or any other religious symbols) but his mind is in maya" Here Bhaugauti means God. Guru Gobind Singh ji used Bhaugauti as sword so many times like: "nam Bhaugauti loh gharaya" which means: Man has fashioned the sword with iron. So I was just curious what does he meant in ARDAAS. Bhul Chuk Maff. Thnx again for ur views.
  9. I was reading a text abt guru gobind singh ji banis.I was reading the translation.I came across a thing in ARDASS which I never thought about earlier. I listened ardass since my childhood but never noticed this thing. In the very first line we say: 'Prithm bhaugauti simar ke guru nanak layee dhiayee' (please excuze me for my transliteration) here 'bhaugauti' is kirpan....i.e. we have to worship kirpan before we 'dhiayee' on Guru Nanak Dev ji. I am confused here.Guru ji equated kirpan with Durga and bhaugauti.Guru ji can NEVER worship Durga as a deity ,as Guru ji is at MUCH MUCH higher level than Durga or bhaugauti. My question now is why did guru ji tell us to worship Kirpan before guru Nanak and other gurus.Where does kirpan stands if we look at eternal God and gurus. I dont know whether I make sense or not, but this just came to my mind. I am sorry if I offended anybdy but I dont know a better place to ask this kinda confusing things. Thnx in advance. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  10. I think u can get it on amazon.com or other book sites. You might wanna try ebay.com also.i got it frm a friend of mine from Punajb. I hope this will help
  11. Guyz its not bad at all.Its a wonderful effort.I encourage u all to read it once. But I have few queries abt the book.So I just wanted to know if somebdy can help me in understanding those things. One of the thing which looked absurd to me is the explanation of killing of goats in the tent by guru ji,while making Khalsa on vaisakhi. The same thing is written in "the Sikh History" by khushwant singh. Plz donot get the wrong message.Macauliffe did a wonderful job.So plz read it atleast once. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  12. I have few doubts abt his book's content. Is anybdy there who read it already and totally agree with it?I am talkin in reference to vol 5 and 6. thanks. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  13. Thnx for the input. So as i understand it now: "Only Guru ji knows himself what he means... " or "BrahmGyani Ki Gat BrahmGyani Jaane" Thats true. but as SOGGSJ ji added one more gurbani tuk: "Evad Oochaa Hovay Koe, Tis Oochay Ko Jaane Soe" I think this is said by Guru Nanak Dev ji, who said this in reference to God not brahmgyani.Again we can say that there is no difference between brahmgyani and God.So its all good. Thnx a lot . Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  14. Thnx for the reply Rochak veer ji and others. As far as I know, guru ji didn't write "patshahi dasvi", it was bhai mani singh who wrote this thing over dasam patshah bani while compiling it.I dont know the source of this info, but i read it somewhere.Rest I agree with u at all points. Thnx once again. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  15. I dont wanna offend anybdy. Please try to understand what I m askin. Why did guru gobind singh ji didn't use the word 'nanak' in his bani as did by all other gurus (like nanak das).Instead guru gobind singh ji used 'gobind das'.Why didn't he use nanak das as other gurus did? please help me understand this. Thanks. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  16. We are proud of u smart singh 24 !!!!! :e:
  17. It was beautiful!!! I hope I will continue with the guru's grace.
  18. I think the female killing before birth is due to the Hindu culture influence on sikhs. As Gurus told us not to do this, a SIKH should not do this at all and should not associate with people who do this. But the dominant hindu (I m using this word as this is their culture) society plays the greater role because an average sikh in punjab is far away from gurbani and cannot understand these things. They can't get this point that "THERE IS NO GENDER BIAS IN SIKHI".Thats why there was the problem of female doin seva at darbar sahib and so many other problems.I think EDUCATION plays a gr8 role.People should be educated abt our BEAUTIFUL , LOGICAl and SCIENTIFIC sikh religion. Bhul Chuk Maff.
  19. Incredible effort. All the best for the site.U can upload few files in download section and add a feedback form for gettin new ideas.DONT FORGET TO PUT material abt SINGHS who gave their life for SIKHI SIDAK in 1984. Keep it up!!!! God bless you.
  20. Well ppl call me gaini (only punjabi frnds, not other indians). Some guys(only pujabi) call me baba ji.Other indians call me pajji...which they say with respect and i am okay with that.I told umm (other indians) to call me by my name...but sometimes they do sometimes they dont. Sometimes (in the begining) I felt bad abt gaini and baba ji...but then I felt like...these guys(punjabi) can never respect me in my present saroop. They dont like my saroop and thats why they tease me so that I cut my hair and be like umm.But I can never do that cuz thats the shape Guru Gobind Singh gave us.I can offend my frnds but not guru Gobind singh ji and his two sons who gave their life for sikhi sidak. Now I donot react on those comments but accept them.I dont get mad now.I dont really know how to handle this thing but I am okay with it now.
  21. do not try to do it...DO IT. Its a great thing everybdy should participate.
  22. Does anybdy know where can I find sau sakhi in punjabi or english on web?Or from where can I get the hard copy if it is not available on net? Thnkx.
