  8. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹ Does anyone know of any Gurbani which describes the shape of the world? I know of the pankti in Sri Sukhmani Sahib which states the world has 4 corners "nimukh mahi chaar kunt fir aave"
  9. Can some explain what does dhur ki bani mean.. is the whole Guru Granth Sahib ji is called dhur ki bani or some specific path is dhur ki bani.. because so many preachers say that we have dhur ki bani so if shri Guru Granth Sahib ji is known as dhur ki bani thn I’ve also heard that when dhur ki bani came thn Guru Nanak Dev ji kept writing he didn’t stop so now if Guru Granth Sahib ji is dhur ki bani thn when Guru Gobind Sahib ji officially gave it to us for our benefit so Guru Ji asked Bhai mani singh ji and baba deep singh ji to write it and gathered all the shlokas and raags kabir jis Ravidas ji baniya and all other path that we have and wrote them all together and thn Guru Granth Sahib ji was compiled. Correct me where ever I’m wrong coz I’ve just heard and read all these things and I’m still learning and trying to get knowledge..
  10. I thought if we have love for our guru like a child would with a father then having to shower again wouldn’t have to be a requirement especially if you’ve cleaned yourself and changed clothes and everything? Isn’t just one ishnaan necessary to sit and do paath next to your guru?
  11. 12. Announcing the next major release of Shabad OS! Dhan guru nanak dev ji de 550 salan parkash purab diyan lakh lakh vadhaiyan! (Wishing you trillions of increased blessings for the prosperous, respected, guru nanak's 550th parkash anniversary) (prosperous, prosperous, prosperous servant's arrival / whose gracious gift saves all humanity from drowning) Features include greatly improved live captions stability, separated settings window for easier management, more natural and effective search result ordering, etc. One of the greatest things is that the hundreds and hundreds of corrections made by our team to improve gurbani's accuracy is finally available to everyone through this desktop app. The Shabad OS database is publicly corrected and has a historical account of all changes made. The latest changes include citations of physical sources, page numbers, and images to verify the accuracy of gurbani between the physical source and digital database. These database improvements will be downloaded to Shabad OS without requiring another major release for the desktop app. Be rest assured that the Shabad OS database is one of (if not the) most accurate representations of Sikh guru's, bhagat's, poet's writings ever! Volunteers have dedicated and will continue to dedicate hours of scrutinizing comparisons between physical sources and the digital database to ensure that we have scholarly levels of accuracy. Beyond this we are now hoping to get as many gurdware using Shabad OS with a full support team to set-up projectors/livestreams. Simply go to https://shabados.com and download for your platform!!!
  13. Every scripture has claimed itself to be from god , a divine revelation, revealed either through sages in deep meditation (as vedas claim to be) , or revealed through archangels (as in case of quran and other abrahamic scriptures) . Gurbani too claims to be divine word of god (dhur ki baani) revealed through the perfect gurus who were one with god. So ,it becomes evident the author of all these scriptures is ONE . And that entity goes by the name variously as Parbrahm/Allah/Yahweh/God/Waheguru Then why does one find harshness in SOME (not all or many) verses of quran, duality in vedas and "sacrifice your ego" in gurbani . Are the differences merely superficial. ? Can one then argue, the jihadists and most muslims worldwide never really knew a true, deeper mystical interpretation of quran. Or for that matter the casteists and orthodox within hinduism never recognized the one present in many form in the vedas. Or for that matter, Sikhs never really truly understood what gurbani was saying ?
  14. I don't wish to open a can of worms here, but few weeks back someone had posted a thread abt british loot of sikh artifacts and there was one folio of Maharani Jinda's sukhmani sahib pothi on that thread That baani was not "pad cheed" , means all words are connected unlike in modern pothis and thats not an issue . However as I was casually reading through the baani (it was Sukhmani sahib), I noticed it had differences with modern version of Sukhmani sahib . I attached my comparison below Did you guys noticed the difference already . In the first salok, it has "aad gurdev nameh" vs "aad gurae nameh" in modern forms. And in other word highlighted "garrb" , it has "baba" in old versions compared to "bhabha" in modern ones. I have always believed gurbani to be without any change. I wonder how many such errors exist . Or is there errors in Maharani Jinda's pothi . Do we have a concrete historical bir of Sri Guru Granth sahib to check against ?
  15. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I wanted to know if it's ever ok to just listen to Nitnem without physically doing it due to some reason? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  16. Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh Sangat ji, I have a few questions that I have come across and hope some guru da piaara can shine a light on I have been studying gurbani in Guru Granth Sahub Ji via a sehej path I have kept. I have been reading 1-4 shabads a day and fully understanding the shabad before moving on. I am currently on ang 33 and plan to spend a few years to complete the sehaj path. My questions are: when should I start studying other banis like Dasam Granth bani, Bhai Gurdas jis vaaran, and Bhai Nanad Lal jis bani? Is there a certain point of understanding I should be at from Guru Granth Sahib Ji before starting to read other banis or should I complete my sehaj path before moving on? If there is a certain point of understanding, how do I know I am ready? I remember reading somewhere a while ago that Dasam Granth bani contains bir raas and Guru Granth sahib ji has shaant raas and that a person cannot handle the bir raas in Dasam Granth if they are not ready. What is the order I should study other banis in, like should I first study Bhai Gurdas Jis vaaran before moving onto Dasam Granth bani and so forth. Guru Granth Sahib ji obviously being first. Thank you in advance Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh
  17. Been after this for years and finally found it on sikhbookclub.com. This is an excellent resource to help increase our understanding of the vocabulary employed within Gurbani. https://www.scribd.com/document/416362237/A-Guru-Nanak-Glossary-By-Christopher-Shackle-2nd-Edition-reissued-in-2011

  20. I asked same question to some gursikh and he said "Gurbaani was heard by our gurus and bhagats in a deep meditative state, and then they wrote it down" Is it true ?
  21. Kirtan Nirmolak Hira By the grace of almighty, Our Kirtani Jatha is blessed for recital of Gurbani kirtan. These blessings have been proved during our recitals in various samagams, kirtan darbars & Gurudwaras. With the blessing of God, our recitals have been greatly appreciated by audience (Sangat). We are very thankful to God for giving us this precious gift. Saadh Sangat ji asees dena ji. Sada Ragi jatha esi tarah kirtan di sewa karda rahe ji . https://www.amritbani.info
  22. Someone told me Guru sahibs used to meditate very deeply and they would hear gurbani verses in deep meditative state. But we also know Guru Arjan dev ji recited much of baani to Bhai Gurdas ji . So if it was coming as a continuous , uninterrupted stream from Waheguru, how would Bhai Gurdas ji have written so fast . Also Bhai ji would have required to ask Guru sahibs of lagha maatras in gurmukhi when scribing gurbani. Is there any document on how it all happened ?
