Recovering

I reinstalled xp, but i relised that i didnt back up 1 thing before reinstalling, silly of me, but is there anyway of recovering this? (i didnt format the hard drive)

reinstalling doesnt delete anyting from ur disk, so all ur stuff is probably there. Just loginto windows and it shuold be there.

Formatting the diskis another matter.

On some PC makes, u can do either a destrcutive recovery or a non destructive recovery. basically, the non dest., still backs up some of ur data, but reinstalls xp. however the destrcutuve recovery will delete everythin, even data, and THEN put xp back on.

Yes, but i deleted what i thought i had backed up! Now the recycle bin is empty. My other files are before reinstalling are still there.

Ranzs, i didnt have a choice of destrutive or non desturctive.

Find yourself a recover files program. There's lots of shareware, trialware and freeware ones out there. The problem is that it is not guranteed you'll find the file you looking for or be able to recover it as the data might have been overwritten by the computer when it needed to use that memory address to store other data.

I have trial versions which I used to recover 1 or 2 files in the past....

There are many more out there it's just a case of looking for the best one.
