i came across something,

we all know maharaj said if you think of something like children, money, husband, wife... you end up becoming a pig, snake, prostitue or dog.

only thinking of waheguru will be the one that gets you to sachkhand or another janam.

my question is, what if you die thinking of a well known gurmukh?

any reference from bani?

gustaphi maaf

can admin put this in gursikhi rehat section please.

What do you think of when you die?

Whatever is stored in your subconsciousness (stored memory of your life) that will appear before you when you die.

If you never think of your mother while you are living, you are not going to remember her when you die.

If you never did simran of Waheguru when you were young and throughout your life, when you die you will not start doing simran of waheguru.

The main thoughts which consume our minds - for some people "Waheguru", for some people "Kaam and women/men", for some people "Obsessive pyaar for their kids", and for some people "All their property and what they own" - this is what will occupy our minds when we die.

So it depends on what the majority of the time you think about and what your mind is "obsessed" or "caught up" in. If someone's subconsciouness is full of Gurmukh's Sangat - so perhaps they will think of Gurmukhs when they die.

Bhagat Trilochan Ji emphasised, "simarai" (simran, simrai = remembrance, remembering) and "chintaa" (thought - what occupies our mind).... when you die, what occupies your mind DEPENDS ON YOUR LIFE and YOUR STATE OF MIND.

hope that helps.

Sat Sri Akal:

Gurbani makes many references to a person remembering the Almighty before the last moment and being saved. Now, people are goin to be like, "Shoot, I'll just start Simran then...I can go and enjoy myself silly till then". It don't work that way. If you are dying slowly, worldly attachments like your family come up...you worry about where your children are and where your loved ones are and you aren't exactly with it at that moment. At incidents where death approaches suddenly, almost everything except the rememberance of the Almighty is present UNLESS you are constantly in rememberance of the Almighty. Things like car accidents and shootings occur so quickly that the mind cannot even begin to process the thought of remembering the Almighty much less even squeeze one Waheguroo out your mouth...not that you would even know to if you spent your entire life doing everything but that.

Therefore, only the discipline of remembering the Almighty continuously so that the remembering becomes like breathing will ensure that you remember the Almighty before death. Otherwise, best of luck to you.

Dying thinking of a Gurmukh is manmat. What use is it? It is like remembering a picture of Guru Nanak Sahib before death...Baba does not care that you remember him as a white bearded man...he cares that you remember what he said and act upon it. Similar to a Gurmukh...the only thing that a Gurmukh will tell you is to remember the Almighty at all times. As per what happens...who knows, but it would probably not result in some great reward.

Bhul Chuk Maaf.
