while visting panjab last year, i noticed that some sikhs are very much in to tomb worship.

Little so called plaese of worship - which have been made to some sort of histroical myth.

One i came across was - baba deep singh's spirit had gone to some man from a village so they made place or 'jagar'. This all agianst sikhi so why do people do it.

WAKE UP - YOUR HEAD SHOUD NOT GO BEFORE ANYONE BUT SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIAB

To easy to blame them, its lack of education within our own people.

The same with superstition, thats what tomb worship is to a certain extent, what our peopel dont realise is that there is a philosophyin their own religion which can over come this practice and idol worship, and fears of superstition.

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

well in india , my mama ji died and im memory of him my family made liek a "jagga" for him ... and ppl actually like go do matah teak huna... and i didnt know wen i was yunger.. so i did ( hope vaheguru ji can 4give me) ... but then i found out that guru granth sahib ji was not there !! and i was so annoyed and hurt that my fmaily in india do this.. so in confronted them about it .. got told off propa etc .. and they forced me to go .. i did but didnt matah teak and then went to gurdwara sahib where maharaj was and it was so much better

But liek .. things liek that are stupid!! and guru ji tells us not to do it ... but hey ppl who r supersticious do which is pathetic considerin we shud even be supersticuous!!

and also ... i had so much peer pressure to go and do matha teak .. and i wasn't even educated about it .. but with maharajs kirpa i now know

so yes lack of education huna.. if ppl understand what is is etc then hopefulli ppl wont do it

DHAN DHAN SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI MAHARAJ!!!!

This is all the lack of education and support. This mostly happens in vllages etc... otherwise normal sikh doesnt bow in front of anything else rather than Guru GRanth Sahib Ji

Well from what i could see a large number of the sikhs live in villages. These tombs some which are are called sheed ar'n de jagar are everywhere even in cities. Why dont leaders or Gurdwara speak about it, about how its wrong. instead they just let it happen. In fact nor do Sants. Is this to keep people in a 'vami' state of mind so they can exploit it ??

    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
    • Whatever problems the Afghan Sikhs have or Punjabi Sikhs have, it's much better to support them than the Muslims.
    • So, are you saying Guru ji isn't God? Or are you saying the British encouraged this belief?
    • Part of the problem is the hostilities between India and Pakistan. If the border were open, Amritsar would easily become a huge trading city. Secondly, the National Highways Authority of India is constructing a new 6-lane expressway from Kashmir, through Amritsar/Jalandhar/Ludhiana to Dehli which will be part of the Ludhiana-Delhi-Kolkatta Industrial Corridor.  Maps of the New Silk Road show Kolkata as a key part of the "road". The Punjab to Kolkata expressway and rail connections will fulfill the ability to hook up to the New Silk Road.  In addition, while crossing to Pakistan via AH1 (Asian Highway 1) is difficult, India does connect to AH1 on the other side, towards the East. Finally, Punjab can trade with the world via Mundra port in Gujurat. Rail to Mundra, then sea onwards. Dubai is very close with a free port. If you send products to Iran, there are ground links onward to Europe.
    • Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. Without the Guru, they know not the essence of the Reality, know not the essence of the Reality. Anand Sahib.
