The Sikhs do not believe in the existence of angels. According to Sikhism “Those who live a virtuous life are angels but those who commit sins are devils” (swD krm jy purK kmwvY ] nwm dyvqw jgq khwvY ]- Guru Gobind Singh )

In God’s infinite creation there are different planes of existence and a vast number (not capable of being counted but referred to in Gurbani as kete) of species and beings on this and other planes. It would be futile and unwise to name or describe some to the exclusion of others.

In Sikhism, angels and jinns are seen in the different good or bad qualities which human beings show.

Thats not really true. The angels are messengers andworkers for God, that he created. But you're right, it is sort of a pagan like situation with more than one "heavenly being," worshipping them is not allowed and they are not considered Gods but simply another type or "race" that worships God.

Hi Grandcannon.

What I meant is that the old pagan Gods were incorporated into Christainity by saying they were angels who serve God.

Sikhism does use metaphoric use of the word heavens, but the use is more akin to what scientists would calld dimensions i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc

you seem caught up with the idea that 'heavens' or in Sikhi the various Khands are a physical place far away rather than all around you.

It is not a state of mind, this mind is going to die with the body, the realms are all around us it is us that dont have the eyes to see them with.

Actually.. in the bible it does mention angels and the devel. But we sikhs don't beleive in that because we ourselves are responsable for our own actions. But i know christianity does believe in angels and the devil.

I beleive there is a more complex explanation for this.

my understanding was that sikhs do deny there existance but at the same time not not say they exist. much like Hindu deities, sikh do not deny there existence nor at the same time do they believe in them. but believe if they do exist they are servants of God.

we do acknowledge the existence of the hindu deities, they are oft mentioned.

We do not rely on them for anything and ask nothing of them.

In Japj Sahib:

'Ik sansari, ik bhandari, ik lae di ban'

This refers to Shiva, bhrahma and vishnu.
