with regards to your name, your are anything but a peace maker............. you yourself are beating around the bush by not answering the question about the raag, it doesnt not matter how well the kirtan is performed, the guy is asking whether the shabad should be in the original raag given.........

In my eyes, it doesn't have to be in the original raag. As long as guru ji's message is not changed, it doesn't matter how you sing bani. I'm saying, if Jagjit Singh didn't sing the shabad in the original raag, is that like a sin to you? And next time you try to insult me, don't call me veerji.

i like raags very much.

i like classical kirtan alot.

but i wont say that if u dnt know raags then u shudnt do kirtan.

AJK style is a very common style.

the blessed souls like BHAI RANDHEER SINGH JI, who kept doing kirtan for three days continously.

thats was not in raags.

yesterday i was at JAWADDI TALKSAL LUDHIANA, if u are raag lover then you must know the place.

its only GURMAT SANGEET INSTITUTE IN INDIA OR MAY BE IN WORLD who teach pure classical music to students free of cost.

this acadamy is really doing the great seva.

doing kirtan in raags is a very good thing.

but its better u do it in simple tunes than doing it wrong in raags if u really dnt have any knowledge abt raags.

and wot u think that every raagi who know raags , always do kirtan in raags????

no one do so, all raagis use to do in several bandhishs.

BHAI TEJINDERPAL SINGH DOOLA JI who know classical music to the limit of it do kirtan in akj style.

bhai sahib also do sumtimes with raags in starting.

remember that BHAI TEJINDERPAL SINGH DOOLA JI learnt classical kirtan FROM BHAI BALBIR SINGH JI (SHIROMANI RAAGI AND EX HAZOORI RAAGI OF DARBAR SAHIB).

ITS NOT MANDATORY TO DO KIRTAN ONLY IN RAAGS, BUT OTS BETTER TO DO IN RAAGS.

BUT THE FEELING OR SHARDHA IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT RAAGS.

raag is a must because before any shabad the raag is mentioned... and its not there 4 fun, guru wants us to do kirtan by this raag not in some hindi filmi tune... am i right?

I'm saying, you can do it both ways. Why can't you get that concept through your head? And how do you know I don't do kirtan? Is it because I said kirtan doesn't always have to be sung in raag, so it isn't considered "real kirtan" to you?
