Certainly, as GurSikhs of Wahe Guru and Siri Guru Granth Sahib we are dedicated in humility and devotion to the qualities and legacies of all of the 10 Masters who gave us the Guru Prashad of Sikh Dharma. It seems however, probably for a number of reasons, that the guiding and healing hand of Guru Ram Das ji has had a uniquely effective and compassionate role in bringing Sikh Dharma to the lives of western, non-Punjabi people (around the world). Only Guruji Himself knows this is true, but it has been our true and direct experience. Guru Ram Das, as you well know, was the 4th Guru, and He was particularly known for healing the sick and the disturbed. He founded the site of the Harimander Sahib as a center where the entire world might be healed. Perhaps it has been because western civilization has been in such powerful darkness and disorientation that Guru Ram Das has had such a direct role in the inspiration of western people toward Sikh Dharma. (And, as some who have generations of Sikh ancestry

behind them have become confused and blinded by the worldly materialism of western societies, they too can be reached and illuminated by these graceful blessings and teachings of Guru Ram Das). He himself had such humble beginnings, as he came to Guru Amar Das ji as an orphan, yet he rose to the

highest heights to occupy the very Throne of meditation and bliss (Raj Jog Tahkht Dheean, Guru Ram Das). His mastery presides over all Yoga (Union) with Wahe Guru. Here in the west we needed such a special blessing to transform at the radiant feet of Guru Ram Das. He blessed us immensely. Thus we have become inspired to offer our heads at the feet of our Spiritual Father, Guru Gobind Singh. Black crows have been transformed into white doves. Sparrows have been transformed into the hawk and the eagle. Humans have begun to master their bestiality in transformation to lions. The Sun of the Khalsa is rising in the West. And all this we owe to the kindness and interventions of Guru Ram

Das, through whom our destinies became transformed.
