Sikhism is the only religion who have scriptures that are written by the actual Prophet/Guru/Messiah call him whatever you desire.

Quran was by Disciples (via Gabriel)

Bible by Disciples

Gita by Disciples

So the above are prone to distortion and it's very visible they are distorted! But...

But aren't our scriptures also written by many other people as well as our Guru's? i.e. Poet Kabeer and sages?...

Yes and are these sages/saints not divinely inspired? Yes they were or the Bani would NEVER have been included! :TH:

But it was Guru Ji himself who Physically wrote the Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

1st By Guru Arjan Dev Ji

Then recited by heart by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, which included Salok M:9's. Bhai Mani Singh was one of the Singhs who wrote this as he recited in Damdama Sahib, Sabo Talwandi. Then Guru Ji Himself gave Santhiya of Guru Granth Sahib Ji to Sikhs.

i always thought of it this way..that like... the gurus arent really God..thers only one god..the gurus were jus saints...so if they wrote the SGGS...then it was God writing through them sort of..right?...so for ppl like Christians...Jesus' disciples wrote the Bible...so then they can jus say that what they wrote was from God cuz they were like saints too kind of.....so wouldn't all the scriptures from different religions all be from God...? grin.gif :D

I like it when you post Gurbani like that :TH: You always have good reminders, which means your mind, eyes and ears are all overflowing with Gurbani. pray.gif Nanak Naam Chardi Kala Tere Bhane Sarbatt Da Bhalla pray.gif

Yes all religion/scriptures are from God. We Sikhs are the only religion that beleives we are not the only way to God. All other religions want to "save" you or convert you so you can add more numbers to there religion. They all think that God only is within their way of life. God is truth. God is righteousness. Religion is just an order, the righteousness factor must come in to play for you to be a true Godly person. No religion makes you righteous, God makes you righteous. If you fall off track then you start to mend evil ways and lose out. The religions only help you to realize God. Any religion can have people that dont seriously think/meditate on God and they are the ones who lose their lives in a gamble. You are either religious or not there is no half way. (Its like turning on a radio, you can either hear it or not, its either barely on enough to hear it or the volume is off and you cant hear any of the radio) When you worry about someone elses religion then you forgot your own(in any religion) You can give advice from your religion but saying they have to be a Sikh etc is simply not true. A Sikh is a Sikh and there is no placing someone in the place of a Sikh unless they are a Sikh. Muslims say they are the only way, Christians say they are the only way, hindus think they are the only way etc.

I think of it as this: Jesus was their Guru. Mohamed was their Guru. Guru Nanak-Guru Gobind Singh-Guru Granth Sahib is our Guru and nobody can be without a Guru and understand God. I think Guru Nanak Dev Ji had the simplest most thorough and enlightening revelations and messages towards mankind that werent so shrouded in parables and metaphors even though we also have the intricate Shabads also. Sikhi is truelly a religion of peace, its only the insane man that throws out peace and bickers amongst us humans. Even some Sikhs have become like people from other religions, they arent openminded/caring/or good Sikhs. So we cant just say muslims bicker amongst or christians bicker amongst. Just be the one who doesnt bicker. Have the grace of the Guru and you can never lose even if you are struck dead in an instant. Either plug yourself into God or go get recycled while you sit in a junkyard without Naam.

Do you mean something like what Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrenwale said?; something like; Sikhs should be proper Sikhs, Muslims proper muslims and Hindus proper Hindus?- Becasue they are ways to God but different in how you meet God?

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
