Gudwara Burnt Down [old Story]

Whislt on the subject of SP, I remember when I was a kid, out local Gudwara got burnt down/set on fire.

I was never sure what happened?

All i remember was that there was grafitti daubed on part of Gudwara with the words 'Holy Smoke'.

Does anyone know of these events?

It occured in the 80's in Birmingham, UK. It was the Guru Ravidas gudwara along Grove Lane in Handsworth.

Any insight into this dreadful event would be grealty appreciated.

(The event was made more prominant as I saw it happen from my nani's back garden, her garden faced the back of the Gudwara).

Ravi Das was never appointed Guru from any Sikh. Maybe thats why it burnt down? We dont say Guru Kabeer Ji so why do they say Guru Ravidas Ji???????

Its called reinventing history to create a seperatist agenda just like all the tha-khans do with these Gurdwara named after "Maharaja" Jassa Singh Ramgharia (Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgharia never claimed and never will be a Maharaja despite the tha-khans pretending he was one, there were far larger misal Jathedar than the Ramgharia misal).

Erm I think Holy Smokes was a gang that was based in London - Southall...a lot of em were into drug dealing and bad stuff

Gangs normally are associated with "bad" stuff. Im sure all of them were.

I was waiting for someone to go on about the Ravidas thing....we all know it shouldnt be named as such etc etc etc, thats old news and has been discussed lots on this site.....please re-read the comment, it was about any background as to the reason why it occured?

There are MANY 'Bhagat'/Caste named Gudware in Brum and across the UK and I doubt it's soley because of that reason that the Gudware was burnt down....so please lets not turn this into a political debate...

Anyone with any USEFUL insight into the events, I'd love to hear from you.

There was a book that came out about the Holy Smokes and thier rival gang (cant remember their name!) but i'll find out for u!
