vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh

ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਹੂ ਬਰੜਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਰਾਮੁ ॥

Kabīr supnai hū barhrhā­ė kai jih mukh niksai rām.

Kabeer, if someone utters the Name of the Lord even in dreams,

ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਕੀ ਪਾਨਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਨ ਕੋ ਚਾਮੁ ॥੬੩॥

tā kė pag kī pānhī mėrė tan ko chām.

I would make my skin into shoes for his feet.

ਸੁਪਨੈ = ਬਰੜਾਇ = in sleep; ਮੁਖਿ = mouth; ਨਿਕਸੈ = to come out of (i.e. if God's Name is uttered); ਪਗ = foot; ਪਾਨਹੀ = shoes; ਚਾਮੁ = skin.

In this Salok Bhagat Kabeer Ji highlights how rare it is to find someone who keeps God is their mind everyday. Many of us think that doing simran or 'remembering Guru Ji' is something we do when at the Gurdwara, and for many more the concept of thinking about/remembering God whilst going about our daily work routines seems impossibly difficult. But there are countless souls who have proved that it's perfectly possible with Guru Saheb's blessing.

We can use Sikhi as a guide in every action and step of life - Gurbani is here to help us live this human life in the most productive and fruitful way possible. But we also have to make an effort ourselves to actively remember Guru Saheb, even though it might be extremely difficult for us at first. Gurmukh's who have already hopped on board Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Naam Jahaaz will tell us that in order to reach a stage where remembering Maharaj comes naturally, we need to persevere and be patient. Dreams will only last a few seconds or minutes, but in order for them to become a reality we need to remain hopeful. We have a direct connection to Maharaj, this is the time to realise it and focus our energy on feeling it.

One way which can help is seeing everything we have as a gift from Guru Saheb - even if it seems painful. With every heartbeat and morsel of food we can show our gratitude to Guru Saheb by Japping Naam. If we think outside the box of of our life which involves mainly 'us'/'me' we'll realise that everything is ultimately under our Father's control. When we truly start to believe this, worry and anxiety won't be necessary - Akaal Purakh is the eternal Writer, beyond mistakes. Everything is a big jigsaw puzzle, the only reason we feel confused and upset when things happen is because we are too blind to see the complete picture.

Bhagat Kabeer Ji tells us that he is a sacrifice to that person who remembers His King even in their sleep. Bhagat Ji tells us he has so much respect for that person, he would tear off his own skin in order to make shoes to cover their feet. This should make the worth of Akaal Purakh's remembrance crystal clear to us - we've been given an indescribable gem, all we need to do is *use* it.
