Why 'tu' ?

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh jio's

i was listening to 'TU MERA PITA TU HAIN MERA MATA' (love it) and I was just wondering....when making references to GuruJi, why do we say 'TU?' If I don't say 'TU' to Dhaddi Ji why do we say to Guru Ji? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I was just wondering :umm:

Because tussee... is like a plural of tu. Tu refers to just one person where tussee can refer to more and we know there is only Maharaj and no other, so that is why it says tu - it sounds disrespectful but for those who composed the Bani, they had a very close personal relationship with Maharaj in their life.

Another thing a Singh told me was that TU carries more love than TUSSI. Its more informal and personal. Even among our close friends, we use TU only for our best and closest friends, and TUSSI for others with whom we have to observe certain formalities. Throughout Gurbani, Gurujee has summoned Akal Purkh as TU.
