Recording Software

I was wondering if anyone knows of a recording software, like someone recording from a mic straight to the software using the sound card. are there any advanced recording softwares where vocals can be edited, cleared and edited with other effects...anybody?

What you are asking sounds like 2 different software.

For me, I use Messer

for recording directly to mp3. This small program also has volume levels that allow you to adjust the volume to prevent clipping, and has excellent quality in my use during samagam recording. (this program is free)

For editing/effects, I would recommend Sony Soundforge (costs $$$) or Audacity

Both can record and save as mp3 as well, however not directly to mp3. (in other words, you record, click stop, then go Save As... and then it takes a minute to save)
