where is this gonna be held
It will take place in Surrey, B.C., Canada.

There are 2 choices, you may either come in person & make the speech...or you can make a video of yourself making the speech and send it in...this way...people from other areas/countries can also compete.

The speeches can be in English or Punjabi. The purpose of this competition is to get our youth into the habit of researching our religion.

Is there a list of topics for the speeches?

Yes, there is a list of topics. However, everyone will be given the topic on the day of the registration deadline...the reason for this is so that everyone gets the topics on the same day and everyone gets the same amount of time to prepare their speech...which will make it more fair.

We have recieved a lot of e-mails asking if they can not come in person, can they just send an audio recording instead of a video tape.

To help reduce the number of e-mail questions, we would just like to inform everyone on this post that we will only accept video recordings.

Reason being, that on an audio recording, we can not tell the age of the person giving the speech. Atleast on video tapes we can estimate if the person is competing in the right age group or not.

Is there a list of topics for the speeches?

OK!

Here is the official list of speech topics:

9 - 11 year olds Martyrdom of Guru Teg Buhadur Ji

12- 15 year olds Battle of Chamkaur Saheb

16 - 19 year olds Banda Singh Buhadur (Key accomplishments & Shaheedi)

20 years and up What is Hukam?

These are just the titles of the topics. When someone registers they will be given a detailed description of what should be covered in the speech and what the judging criteria is.

Is this going to be an actual event open to the public?

When the judges judge the people participating, can other people sit in and listen?

Where is the event taking place? When is it taking place?

I know many people who aren't prepared to speak, but want to hear others speak.

And maybe they'll speak at the second Gurmat Studies speech competition. thumbs_up.gif
