Fresno is cheaper in everything as compared to other northern california cities but however keep in mind that fresno is mostly farming area and most of the time you will see either farmers or ppls in transportation line. There are like more than 10 gurdwaras in that city :D .. I have no idea whats the need of that many gurdwaras in fresno.

Sacramento is nice and i would encourage you to look at Elk Grove City (lies in sacramento county). I moved to elk grove in 2000 and it was like a small ghost town but very well organized, lots of trees, parks, new school etc.. Now that city is one of the top city in everything. Bradshaw Gurdwara sahib is not very far from here (about 10 miles). Rocklin, roseville, granite bay they are all good cities (about 12 to 15 miles north of sacramento).

Hope that helps

yes but at the same time its no.. If you are asking.. "Will you be stopped/arrested if you wear kirpan open (outside wear) in public"... then my answer will be YES (anywhere in united states). However the case/charge will be dropped and your sri sahib will be returned no matter which state you are in.

You can wear kirpan in california public school but it has to be glued all over. You can wear kirpan or any knife legally but blade has to be less than 5 inch.

However there are cities like "Stockton" where mayor adopted the resolution of the acceptance of sikh kirpan.

I wear my sri sahib on the outside (a lot of us do) and we live in TEXAS! and we never get stopped. Or arrested.

Maybe Texas state law permits it residents to carry knife (in their defination) but somehow i think thats most likely not possible. Is there any rule/law that you can share with us that protects us wearing kirpan?

Nope, not in this state! Here they take their weapons quite seriously, and you have to have a license to carry a concealed weapon.

There is some sort of statute that states that you can have in plain sight as long as its less than 5 inches, but our 10 inch ones dont fit that rule at all.

Funny thing is, we walk in plain sight of state troopers and county sheriffs, but we never get in trouble. It is, after all, our 1st amendment right.

I cannot say anything about samagams as i don't go to any and i don't think there are any sikhi based camps happening often in california.

They usually have a few camps throughout the year in the bay area, and there's also the annual Jakara conference.

Tons of akj samagams in the bay area! And there's also the annual Yuba City Nagar Kirtan.
