Ghorandhar,

Great post and excellent research. Unfortunately nowadays Sikhs are more likely to believe the chinese whispers of so-and so Baba said this and phalana said this. If anyone is serious about doing research then do to the original sources. People in some organisations have an agenda and their agenda is to cast doubt on the Panth Pranvit Rehat Maryada so that their own maryada can have some legitimacy.

People are more prepared to believe all the bukwas written against the Rehat Maryada mainly because they assume that just as the SGPC nowadays is in such a bad condition then it follows that the same types of nastiks that are in the SGPC now were the ones that drafted the Rehat Maryada. They forget how the SGPC came about, that it gained legitimacy by carrying the support of the majority of Sikhs as well as the sacrifices that Sikhs had to undergo to create the SGPC.

Common sense is lost in these types of discussions based around rumours and unsubstantiated evidence. Some claim that Bhai Randhir Singh on his deathbed repudiated his earlier position on Raag Mala. So are the same people who accept unsubstantiated evidence about his walking out going to now accept the Raag Mala? It seems rumours are good if they support your argument but can be cast aside if they weaken your argument.

Han jee Veer Proactive jee. There is a saying in punjabi for following what phallana phallana said, its Suneeya sunayeaa ghala.

Veer jee we have forgotten the shahids and the sacrfice that the Singhs and Singni made to free our gurdwaras. Because 2day the SGPC are a mess, we should not represent those who gave there lives as also being bad. I was reading Prof Sahib Singh jees life story yesterday and he also spent time in jail during the Gurdwara sudhar lahair and Akali movement. We forget that those who helped shaped the rehit maryada spent time in jail, protested on the streets and had to fight not only the goverment, but also the Arya Samaj, Christian missionarys and Muslim groups such as ahmaddiya who were trying to convert Sikhs. They were amazing and we should not forget there hard work and sacrifice. Whatever the panthic decision, they were willing to follow. We freely use the word panth, but when the panth makes a decision we choose not follow it, yet we still attack others for being 'anti panthic' or 'not panthic'. If thats not a paradox, then i will never no what is.
