Sikh Novels

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsaaa, Vaheguru Ji Ki Fatehhh!!

Please recommend some Sikh novels, or any good novels in Punjabi to read :)

'Sikh novels'?

I didn't know books had religions....

But on a serious note, my Punjabi is terrible, so I can't personally recommend anyone, but my father is constantly telling me that Nanak Singh's novels are excellent.

As for novels/short stories in English with a Sikh theme, Khushwant Singh is your man. For all his faults, and he has many, he is an exceptional writer.

Sikh novels meaning novels with "a Sikh theme," as you have pointed out. Stating it as "Sikh novels" is simply referring to the novel's genre, as in "Science fiction novels."

Bhai Vir Singh jee wrote quite a few Sikh Novels. Bijay Singh, Sundari, Satwant Kaur etc. Everyone knows Bhai Vir Singh jee did so much for Sikh history and Gurbani, but people do realise how important he was for punjbai Literature, before Bhai Vir Singh jee novels and writing in prose did not exist. Everything was in poetry. I would also recommend his poems, they are really good.

Principle Gurdial Singh phull is really good and was one of the best writers in the 60/70/80s. Like Bhai Vir Singh jee, anyone who read his books and met him would instantly would be influenced to follow Sikhi. Principle jee also did alot of punjabi literature, they lived amazing and hard lives, when everyone was turning away from punjabi, they were fighting for the existence of punjabi.

There are alot of novels out there, best thing to do is go India and spend a few hours in a bookshop.

Jaswant Singh Kanwal, Giani Gurditt Singh, Prof. Mohan Singh, Gurdev Singh Mann... the list of Punjabi writers is pretty huge and doesn't begin and end with Bhai Vir Singh (although he is in my humble opinion one of the best)

We sell a dual set of 'Mera Pind' by Giani Gurdit Singh & 'Raat baki Hai' by Jaswant Singh Kanwal selling for only 5 UKP. This at cost price as we love for Punjabi language books to be sold here in the west. If you would like to buy them visit our shop via the website. If you are anywhere in the South, then pm me before you order and i'll arrange a collection to save postage.

Are there any sikh novels available in English? I know Sundri and Satwant Kaur are.. but any others? I did a google search and tried to find some of the authors mentioned here, but it was impossible to find any books in english. If hindi translations exist, those would be ok too.

Also, where could i get Bhai Vir Singh's Satwant Kaur?
