Not sure how many people are aware of this story below. It seem that Mecca was held infiltrated by certain muslims who believed the 'rehat' wasnt being followed properly, they took hostages and the saudi army and french had to attack and kill them. The surviving group were all beheaded.

Its interesting because although it is obviously not the same as the attack on darbar sahib, general brar (the guy doing the interview on the parkarma and who said something like 'we entered with prayers on our lips and humility in our hearts') one of the generals who attacked darbar sahib used the mecca incident as a kind of justification for attacking darbar sahib. saying that even in the past when neccesary the army have had to attack religious places.

Dont mean to start a debate on whether the attack was right or wrong (thats kind of obvious!) but interesting to see the differences in the 2 scenarios.

Also found some footage of the leader of the group that seized the mosque, (havent listened to it yet so apologies if its rubbish!) seems to show the attackers the army, the survivors etc. (could be some graphic images so be warned).

the mecca incident was a takeover by militants whereas baba bhindrawaala and fellow sikhs stayed at darbar sahib since 1982.

these militants took over a mosque, whereas baba bhindrawaala didn't take over a gurdwara as proven by the countless interviews he gave there.

also, the people in charge of darbar sahib, SGPC was with bhindrawaala whereas in the mecca incident, a fatwa was ordered for an attack to free the mosque with force, no such hukamnama came from akal takhat. there was no sikh demand for the attack on darbar sahib(longowal and tohra's roles may be shady though).....

the event of operation bluestar is unparalleled, in my view.

peace.
