How do you keep in timing with a tabla?

does anyone know how do you learn to keep in time with a tbla so you dont go off beat

some have said you need to practice with a tble ji

some have said to learn tabla

some have said buy a electronic tabla - which i have

some have said to keep practising sargams

i personally think i need to understand taals in order to get in time

someone help??

When i play tabla, it me who keeps up with the kirtaniya, so i think if you were singing then having knowledge of tabla would certainly be an advantage.

Best way is using the electronic Tabla Bro, not only can you practise different Taals, but your Laya becomes solid as the speed doesn't change and remains constant.

I think the best way to keep in timing, is to just learn tabla, that way you can figure out by yourself if you're in beat.

What is electronic tabla and how do i get one. I can play decent tabla and different taals ("Teen tall") but i only learnt tabla for about 6 months so i am not that good. I find it hard try to learn new talls from books etc because even though i can play the bols i cant play the right layi.

Sum is shown by the flashing of a red light on the tabla, so you know where it is. I think maybe Bina music shop does it Amardeep Bro, I got mine in India, if you need one, PM me, might be going soon.

I started learning tabla recently (my hands r gone really hard and horrible from Gatka and Tabla) . I think the best way 2 practice is 2 get a electronic tabla and play the same taals (got mine from panjab). Speed can then be built slowly with electronic tabla.
