please excuse my ignorance but whats the significance (if any) of duserra in Sikhi?

I always thought it was a hindu celebration, but in Punjab i remember in some gurdwara we went to they were burning these huge paper mashay statue thingies outside the gurdwara sahib... loads of Sikhs (Amritdhari) joined in.... and erm,.... i know Hazoor Sahib is a hot topic right now, but to my limited knowledge duserra is observed there too... and at Anandpur Sahib. can anyone confirm this?...

dushera is celebrated as shaster pujan divas in sikhs ... as per hukams of dasmesh pita ... sikhs should take all their shasters out on this day from their khazane and kamarkase ... clean them oil them ... keep them at high place ... and read shasternaam malla with other jangi bannis ... to learn more about this marayada catch any chardikalla singh ...
