*supreme Sacrifice - Programme In Memory Of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Jee

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa Vaheguru ji ki fateh

There have been many hero's in history who have died for the defence of their own faith, but only ONE hero who gave his life to defend the faith of another.

That one hero is Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji Maharajh.

He supported those who had no other support. He protected the weak and the defenceless from tyranny and oppression. He gave honour and dignity to those that had their respect taken away from them. He stood as a torch of truth in the face of injustice and falsehood.

He did this by giving his own life

Dhan Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji the 9th Sikh Guru, gave his life so that the practitioners of another faith could have the right to practice as they wished without facing religious intolerance and genocide. He took their burden on his shoulders and challenged Aurangzeb to do all that he could.

Before his own eyes, his beloved sikhs were sawn in half, boiled alive in water and wrapped in wool and set alight. Yet not one cry of pain or sorrow escaped from their lips. The only sound they made was that of reciting the Guru's Bani. Neither they or the Guru were swayed by promises of riches and possessions. They chose death over a life without Sikhi and one where injustice prevailed.

Their story and sacrifice echoes throughout history as one of the greatest feats of love and compassion.

With the grace of Guru Granth Sahib Ji we have been blessed with the opportunity to gather together and remember the supreme sacrifice made by Guru Tegh Bahadar Sahib Ji Maharajh and these great gursikhs.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Jee

Shortly after the birth of Guru Teg Bahadur, Sri Guru Har Gobind Sahib asked many priests, including Baba Budha Ji and Baba Gurdas to come with him and bless the child. On seeing the child, Guru Har Gobind and Baba Budha bowed to the him and touched his feet. On being asked by one of his followers to explain his actions, Guru Har Gobind said that Guru Teg Bahadur was sent to this world with a great mission: he would sacrifice his own life for the welfare of others. Sri Guru Har Gobind Sahib always wore two swords; Miri (political sovereignty) and Piri (spiritual sovereignty). When Guru Har Gobind Sahib picked up his child, Guru Tegh Bahadur picked up the sword that represented Piri.

Dhan dhan Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji!

Please can you post more sakhi's from guru jis time brother.

Another sakhi i remember was when Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was young and he wouldnt play and would just sit there and do gurbani. His mother asked Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji why her son remained so serious and not interested in playing games with the other children. Guru Sahib said that he is preapring for the future. When mata ji asked if this was because her son would be a great warrior, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji said that, your son will be a warrior, but your grandson will be the greatest warrior the world has seen, your son here will be the one to make the greatest sacrifice the world has seen!

Singhs should be sorting out a coach from Smethwick for next saturday as well.

Details and a contact for booking a seat should be posted as soon as available!

:D

Also a singh asked me to request that as this is one of the first youth programmes booked by the new committee can we all support it as much as possible. If we can make this a great success then the more likely we are to be able to get further youth events there!
