Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Perhaps this will help you understand G.Singh. The picture in the original post shows Bhai Todar Mal Ji’s 300 year old haveli which like Bhai Sahib has been forgotten by Sikhs and left in a dilapidated state.

Regarding the title, “Fortune of Faith?” how many of us would give up all our materialistic things for our beloved father Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj?

"Let us look at this in a little detail, say that a gold coin has a diameter of around 3cm and would take up an area of (3 x 3 ) 9cm squared. The land required for the martyred children would be approximately 2.0m by 2.0m a total area of 40,000 cm squared if laid next to each other. Add to this the area required for Mata Ji (2.0m by 1.5m) if the coins were laid horizontally then to cover this area would require around 7800 gold coins. Now, if the coins had to be stacked vertically then possibly 10 coins would be needed to cover the 9cm squared area, so vertically 7800 x 10 coins would be required, or 78,000. That is an awful lot of gold coins today, one can only imagine how much they were worth three hundred years ago. It is safe to say it was probably his life’s savings. Maybe he had to beg and borrow to raise the total amount, who knows, but the fact remains this was truly a noble deed. Todar Mal forsake everything for his love of Guru Gobind Singh Ji."

APDF is this who you're referring to?

Todar Mal, a rich Sikh, heard of the imprisonment of the Guru's Sahibzadey and Mata Gujri, he hastened to the Sultan with the intention of paying a ransom for their release. But, by the time he arrived at Sirhind, the Sahibzadey's has already been martyred and Mata Gujri had also left the earthly abode. Todar Mal went to Wazir Khan's court to obtain permission for cremating the dead bodies of the martyrs and their grandmother. The Sultan told Todar Mal that he would agree to his request if he paid for the land with spreading as many gold mohurs (coins) as would cover the piece of land required for cremation. Todar Mal accepted Wazir Khan's terms and made the payment.
Another character was Bhai Moti Mehra, who was another follower of Guru Ji. When he found out that Mata Gujri and the Sahibzadey were left in the cold tower, he went to visit them. He took some warm milk for the Family, he sneaked past the guards and climbed up the tower by ladder. Bhai Moti Mehra was later caught, and he along with his family were sentenced to death by crushing.

Sangat from all over the world should invest money, buy the land at whatever cost -> remember its faith not fortune were on about... and run an independent Gurduara with an Sahibzadey academy there. N if the good old SGPC don't like it then so be it.

Anybody know the exact details of where this haveli is?

Karro Kirpa SatGuru Ji.

Todar Mals haveli to get facelift

Written by Gurdeep Singh Mann, Tribune News Service, Fatehgarh Sahib

The Jahaaz Haveli of Diwan Todar Mal will be saved form further erosion before this monsoon. This was decided during a meeting of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Punjab Virasat Charitable Trust.

The meeting was held at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib wherein the technical experts dealing with the reconstruction work of the haveli and SGPC members participated.

Navjotpal Singh Randhawa, the founder member of the Punjab Virasat Charitable Trust, today handed over the papers of permission sought from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for repairing the haveli.

Randhawa while talking to the TNS said he was satisfied by the interest shown by the SGPC members in the haveli. He said now efforts should be made to complete the restoration work within a stipulated time. He said advice of experts from the archaeological department has been sought in the restoration work.

SGPC president A.S. Makkar thanked the Trust members for giving this valuable haveli to the SGPC without charging money.

The haveli is to be restored at a cost of around Rs 2.5 crores in next one-and-half years or so. The haveli was in a dilapidated condition for the past many years and it was recently donated to the SGPC by the Punjab Virasat Charitable Trust. The haveli was situated near Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

The historical haveli is believed to be 300 years old and was owned by Todar Mal, a wealthy merchant of Sirhind, who performed the cremation of two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Zorawar Singh (6) and Fateh Singh (9) and their grandmother, Mata Gujari. The wealthy merchant had to cover the required ground for cremation with gold coins to get the three bodies released.

Tunnel found in Jahaz Haveli

Written by Tribune News Service, Fatehgarh Sahib

Sunday, 04 May 2008

A tunnel has been found in the Jahaz Haveli of Diwan Todar Mal here. The tunnel runs from ruins of the haveli to a well in fields nearby.

SGPC president Avtar Singh said the tunnel was found recently and after taking the haveli from the Punjab Virasat Charitable Trust, barbed wire had been put around it.

Pictures from a book were being matched with the haveli after which restoration would start, he added. SGPC members, scholars and persons associated with the restoration work would meet on May 23, said Avtar Singh.

A four-member committee formed to look after the restoration has been expanded to eight members.

The members include former SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar, Divya Gupta, director, INTEC, Delhi, Dr S.P. Singh, director, National Museum, Delhi, Raghujit Singh Virk, senior vice-president SGPC, Dr Balwinder Singh, School of Planning Board, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Navjotpal Singh Randhawa, Didar Singh Bhatti, MLA, Sirhind, and Anurag Singh. The committee would be coordinated by Dilmeg Singh, secretary, SGPC.

Randhawa recently donated the haveli to the SGPC with the help of SAD leaders, including MP and SAD president Sukhbir Badal. The haveli was purchased by the Punjab Virasat Charitable Trust in 2003.

Randhawa said the haveli was donated to the SGPC when some SGPC members approached him and assured to get it restored.

Thanks for that Bhai Sahib Ji. After reading the article you posted sounds like the SGPC are going to action and restore the building eventually when they pull their finger out.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
